Saw The Boondock Saints last Saturday. I liked it, although the whole "FUCK YEAH, VIGILANTES" attitude of the police was fucking stupid.

Also re-watched the three lord of the rings films over a couple of days, really good, but, holy shit, there were so many gay overtones, how could I have missed them?

I'm not trying to be a dick, either, there were just some super gay lines.

Also, Poultrygheist. Saw it a few weeks back and loved it. It's the new Troma movie and they did a fantastic job.

Burn After Reading. I recommend it, but I'm not sure why.

That was great. Funniest thing Brad Pitt has ever done.

You've never heard the phrase 'It's a little bit Sam 'n' Frodo'?

Saw an Israeli movie called Giborim Ktanim (Little Heroes). Was awful sweet, even though it was apparently a blatant ripoff of Stand By Me. Also, the kids managed to get stuck in a military firing range overnight with explosions all around. Fun.

I just watched a Korean Comic film called Volcano High. It's kinda like Kung-Fu Hustle only a bit funnier and set in a school. Also, Telekinesis.

My friend Jordan has that. I'll have to ask him about it.

Saw Elizabeth: The Golden Age. Pretty good, though it wasn't on par with the first film in several ways.

Leto 01-21-2009 07:13 PM

The latest Futurama thingy, Benders Game? I didn't much care for it. Loved the previous few. This one was eh.

Anonyman! 01-22-2009 01:49 PM

Same same same. Favorite episode is still the one with the dog. ;_;

That and the one where he switches hands with the robot devil.

Wings of Fire 01-22-2009 01:58 PM

Seen two movies recently, Howl's Moving Castle and V for Vendetta.

Orgasmed over the first one, second was urgh, just urgh.

Hobo 01-22-2009 01:59 PM

What the fuck is wrong with Vendetta?

God.

Wings of Fire 01-22-2009 02:01 PM

It totally raped the book, like beyong comprehension.

I could write an dissertation on what the fuck was wrong with Vendetta.

...Although maybe I'm being overly harsh, the domino scene was done very well and not all the characters were completely destroyed, like possibly Finch and...well...yeah.

If you've read V for Vendetta the film will make you cry, if you haven't read it then what the fuck are you doing watching some silly action movie?

Bullet Magnet 01-22-2009 02:55 PM

What films have been better than their books? Honestly.

Wings of Fire 01-22-2009 02:58 PM

Lord of the Rings.

Bullet Magnet 01-22-2009 03:02 PM

I could argue the point, or go straight for the technicality jugular.

Wings of Fire 01-22-2009 03:13 PM

Hah, LOTR conversion was Adaption Distillation, they left everything out of the book that was superfluous to the message or story and just concentrated on the message, fuck Tom Bombadill.

V for Vendetta was Adaption Decay, they removed several elements of the story that were integral to the overall message and completely screwed the main characters, did anyone notice How easy it was for competent intelligent men to find V's hideout in the movie when they were actually looking? That shit doesn't happen like that in the book.

Anonyman! 01-22-2009 03:18 PM

LotR books win out. I mean, the movies bored the shit out of me, and I tend to have a large attention span.

Wings of Fire 01-22-2009 03:21 PM

Really? Wow, it was almost exactly the opposite for me, which I found scary because I usually deride movies and tv in favour of books.

I'm not saying the books were bad, I'm just saying I didn't find them the best things in the world they were hyped up to be for me by my family, he made a pretty brilliant world.

To be honest, I enjoyed The Hobbit more.

Bullet Magnet 01-22-2009 03:52 PM

The Hobbit's tone is entirely different. Especially the first edition.

Mac Sirloin 01-22-2009 04:05 PM

In short: V For Vendetta was a terrible adaption but a nice watch otherwise.

Same thing with Constantine. Or anything else Moore ever wrote that got turned into a movie.

Wings of Fire 01-22-2009 04:06 PM

What are the odds on Watchmen becoming fangasmed by all the neophytes and making all Moore fans everywhere cry then?

Goddamn beyond likely.

I'll like it, though, I know I will. I like just about all of the adaptions except League of Extraordinary gentlemen. God that was awful.

Edit: OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING

Lord of the Rings.

Those films began bad and ended on the note of being one of the worst pieces of shit I have ever seen. Anyone who thinks that those movies are good needs to sit down, watch them again, and get some serious perspective. They are just plain awful. Especially Return of the King.

Why so critical?

They are riddled with underdeveloped plot lines, overdeveloped plot lines, nonsensical plot lines, and enough slow motion shots to knock about two hours off the films if they were just returned to normal speed.

Anonyman! 01-23-2009 12:54 PM

I wonder how long 300 would be without slow motion. I reckon about 35 minutes.

Alcar 01-23-2009 10:08 PM

Watched Underworld 3 last night. Wasn't particularly good, but it was okay none-the-less, if at all for the back-story it provides.

Alcar...

Finally got around to watching Fight Club.

Brad Pitt gains some street cred with me, and leaves me wondering why I haven't seen Edward Norton more. Although I still don't understand how he lived through shooting himself in the head while his alter-ego died. I'm thinking maybe he only shot off the part of his brain that contained the ego, but still that's brain damage and bleeding. Also, the woman in it started off sort of ugly but for some weird reason she got more and more attractive throughout the movie.

Sorry I can't remember the names, but for some reason my mind is just blank and I don't want to look it up on imdb.
