Here's a cool mod.

BTW, I found a solution to my embeded Youtube vidoe problem. It turns out I just had to switch my message editor interface to standard

T-nex 01-26-2012 12:21 PM

Ok guys..... I have made quite an achievement.

I.... Spawned... the world's most ridiculously annoying minecraft world ever.

I dare you. Try this seed out: TTTSSS

Varrok 01-26-2012 12:33 PM

Challenge accepted, will try when my power supply comes back or on a notebook tommorow!

STM 01-26-2012 12:35 PM

Why is it ridiculously annoying? Or is that the surprise? I'm intrigued Nexy.

Crashpunk 01-26-2012 01:28 PM

If it had at least tree it would be a perfect.

I'm not going to say why because that will ruin the fun :D

Ridg3 01-26-2012 01:45 PM

Wow, T-Nex. That truly is a horrible world.

I'm off exploring now.

Splat 01-26-2012 04:38 PM

I've had worse worlds. Sadly, all pre-1.8 however.

DarkHoodness 01-26-2012 05:33 PM

Annoying map indeed. :P Nothing but tree-less islands for miles and miles... If you can navigate a massive pitfall, there is an abandoned mine somewhere under the spawn point island with Melon seeds in, a dungeon and several chests close to each other, but good luck getting to it without torches, tools or weapons - It's cut in half via a ravine.

Splat 01-26-2012 06:16 PM

Actually, Edd, if you're on far render distance you can see an archipelago of tiny islands from your spawn island. Swim towards it and through it and head straight along the compass direction you're going in (not sure if its north, south, east or west, but straight through the small islands anyway, and in a straight line along whatever axis you're travelling on) and before the day is darkening you'll come to a larger island with a single tree on it. The island is big enough to spawn aggressive mobs, there's a smallish cave in the middle of the island with exposed coal and there are some caves underground, including the smallest ravine I've ever encountered.
So far I have 16 fish (at last - been living off of zombie flesh and apples), a clock, one bar of gold, some lapis and redstone and a healthy supply of wood, iron and coal (despite accidentally throwing a stack of coal into the ocean and spending half a day diving after it).
No diamonds yet, but frankly I'd give 20 diamonds for three wool. And a few more diamonds for a piece of sugar cane (obsessive over maps, me). I might make a compass tomorrow and go after Edd's goodies (or at least leave a cache of food and boats at the spawn).

Thank you Nexy for ruining my attempt at re-adjusting my sleeping pattern to that of a human.

Does anyone know of a good texture pack that is similar to the default but just enhances it a bit? Theres so many texture packs out there, I have no clue where to look.

Varrok 01-28-2012 04:37 AM

What do you think about this one:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/...3a-vanilla-hd/
?

Crashpunk 01-28-2012 05:25 AM

Oh my god that is awesome. I love how the ores look like they stick out of the rock.*Downloads*

Havoc 01-28-2012 06:51 AM

That's a little too vanilla for my taste. It still has the same textures, just another one on top of it. Looks weird if you ask me. *Keeps looking*

That's what you asked for ;)

How about:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/...updated-24jan/
? I've used it for a long time

Manco 01-28-2012 12:09 PM

Painterly Pack is quite popular. http://painterlypack.net/customizer.php

Phylum 01-28-2012 12:28 PM

I've been meaning to try this one out. It may be too similar again, though.

Jesus motherfucking Christ no. That texture pack is a loathsome piece of shit.

Havoc, I use Eldpack, which isn't terribly similar to the default but it's not too different either. If you like pixel art packs, this is just about the best 16*16 one. Unfortunately, it's not fully updated to 1.0 yet.

Phylum 01-28-2012 03:39 PM

While we're discussing texture packs, I quite like Tiny Pixels. It makes the game look really different.

It's probably not everyone's thing and I couldn't play with it for long, but try it out.

NyOe!s 01-28-2012 05:07 PM

I play with this texture http://www.planetminecraft.com/textu...kds-cubiclife/ I think it's magnificent except for the animals. Is there two different chickens in minecraft or has this texture just made there be white and brown ones?

Phylum 01-28-2012 06:14 PM

I can't stand texture packs above 32x. They all just look so odd. The only time they're good is when used with the GLSL shaders, but I couldn't use that for regular playing.

There's a mod that allows for multiple mob skins. Mobs spawn with random skins, giving a bit more variety. The way the mod works means that skins can be included in texturepacks, but not effect the vanilla game.

NyOe!s 01-28-2012 08:04 PM

Ok thanks, and I really love playing with different textures they make the game just look so fresh!

I really like the look of that, actually. Same textures but smoother, which is exactly what I'm looking for. Gonna try that one as soon as I get home.

Here's a cool texture pack. This one's my favorite. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/...pdate-1292012/

It's really badly done. They've basically just traced the original textures, and a lot of them are weirdly shaped and shaded because they have, for example, followed the original outlines too closely rather than utilising the increased freedom that a higher resolution allows.

Use it if you like the look of it, of course. Of course. But it is very, very poor pixel art.

I think so.

I miss the old minecraft days before beta 1.4. There just wasn't too many crafting options or new biomes and it seemed alot harder rather then now the first night isn't scary at all like it used to be.

Havoc 02-02-2012 01:37 PM

Beds should never have been introduced into the game...

Yeah,I remember the first time I played Minecraft,I was afraid of creepers and spiders. And I was also afraid to leave my sand and dirt shelter XD
Also I remember that my first house got blown up 3 times by creepers in one day in a difference of 10 seconds, and I still had a piece of it to repair.
Lol I instincively placed the chests at the furthest point from the door in my house not knowing of the creeping menaces XD.

EDIT:
Lol I cant believe it,I just read on the wiki about the ocelots and when you turn them into cats, creepers are afraid of them lol XD

Crashpunk 02-02-2012 11:28 PM

Minecraft to me is better then it was. Alpha was great but looking back it was so basic and got boring really quickly (To me it was anyway.)

If you don't want to play the recent Minecraft, why don't you backtrack to another version? http://mcpatcher.cwsurf.de/
They are other programs I think but it worked for me recently.

AlexFili 02-02-2012 11:48 PM

The Ocelot idea is really cool. I managed to find a download of the old school "ooof" noise :D

Edit: Just got myself an ocelot. I entered the seed 'linkinpark' and spawned in a jungle!

Cats are so overpowered now. Tame one and you're basically invincible.

Scraby 02-03-2012 01:07 AM

I spawned in the jungle by just making a random world lol.
Yeah I agree, with a cat creepers are nothing but gunpowder farm sacks, and with sprint power and enchantments, creepers arent what they were, unless you encounter a supercharged creeper....

NyOe!s 02-03-2012 05:33 PM

Off from the jungle for a second I had just used Mo Creatures for the first time I think it's really cool. Having jellyfish to scorpions to werewolves and ogres and using a harder mob mod now it is like before in the scary way.

Scraby 02-09-2012 01:23 PM

Yeah,I tried that out minutes ago lol they make bashing sounds when they try to enter, the safest way is to have iron doors, but in this Snapshot even iron doors are broken down :X
On easy they just make noise trying to break the doors XD

EDIT: Never mind!
