No.

It took me a few goes to get what this song is about.

OddjobAbe 07-04-2010 10:16 AM

I've posted this before, but I'm going to post it again, because I fucking love it. I was never a massive fan of The Who, but I love Tommy.

fine. waa. i guess i'm kind of shit at making points. but i'm gonna continue to make a shitty point. that's all. also, let me just get in this little obsolete point that's kind of shitty, again.

fuck sake. am i the only one that got incredibly irritated by that?

sorry

Forgive me if I'm out of order but this new music has no soul
It may be good for making money, but sadly that is not my goal
Integrity and honesty are words that you don't understand
But you're the best, it says so in the Penny Dreadful in your hand

I'm gathering new generation
That's gonna stand up to it
To this karaoke dictatorship
Where posers and models with guitars
Boogie to the shit for beats
I make a better rock revolution
Alone with my dick!

HOLY FUCK
Minor Threat

Rancid
Bob Marley
Streetlight Manifesto
(early) Catch 22
Megadeth
Iron Maiden
Amon Amarth
Ensiferum
Wintersun
Dream Theater
Mayhem
Emperor
Dillinger Escape Plan
Mastodon
Baroness
Queens of the Stone Age
Rush
Smashing Pumpkins
Emperor
Nirvana
Pink Floyd

...and that's just scratching the surface. Let me know if you have any recommendations! :D

OANST 07-08-2010 06:12 AM

I recently saw Jeff Mangum from Neutral Milk Hotel with all of the other Elephant 6 people. This was exciting, as he hasn't played his own music in front of an audience since about '99.

Ridg3 07-08-2010 06:35 AM

Out of that entire list...there is six good bands.

OANST 07-08-2010 06:35 AM

Really? Damn, I'm jealous. What songs did he play?

OANST 07-08-2010 06:49 AM

He only played Engine, but he sang on a bunch of the other band's songs, as well. You could probably find a video if you search for the Holiday Surprise Tour.

Judging as how you have Slash as your profile picture, I'm assuming you haven't heard of most of the other bands on the list. This is just an assumption, though.

OANST 07-08-2010 07:37 AM

Here's a video of the show I was at. It has Jeff Mangum singing with Olivia Tremor Control (which Mangum was a founding member of).

Edit: That isn't actually the same show. They did the same song together when I saw them a few nights later. This song probably sounds terrible to anyone who doesn't know Olivia Tremor Control or Neutral Milk Hotel, so sorry about that.

I approve of most of these, especially Floyd and Dream Theater

I'm just glad to see Magnum is still around and actually doing something, rather than just performing with the Circus (what the fuck was that about?)

T-nex 07-08-2010 12:27 PM

I recently found a danish band that I actually like, which is like super rare, as I usually hate music made by danish people.

Meh... Some of you may hate it, but I find it really atmospheric.

The rest of the songs are really good too imo. My neighbour really ruins this song by playing it loufly, and singing along(Terribly and falsely) though. :(

Ridg3 07-08-2010 12:31 PM

These cunts are fucking good...and they're Danish.

Oooh that's a good version of Peaches.

OddjobAbe 07-09-2010 08:21 AM

It fucking is. I'm off to see Dweezil play with his Zappa Plays Zappa band in Cambridge in under a fortnight, and Peaches is one they're definitely supposed to play, so it will be interesting to see how well they play it, since I've never heard their rendition.

T-nex 07-09-2010 10:20 AM

Why do I live under such a fucking rock???

anyway

OANST 07-09-2010 10:23 AM

Did WoF show that to you or did I?

T-nex 07-09-2010 10:24 AM

No one.... after listening to The Rumor Said Fire, I read that their inspiration was Fleet Foxes, so I went to check it out and now Im even more in love ...

OANST 07-09-2010 10:25 AM

The entire album is fantastic, and they have a new one coming out in a few months.

T-nex 07-09-2010 10:27 AM

yea ... yea.. x_X I know.. I really fucking wish i wasn't so broke. I'd go out and buy their album right now. hell, I might even do it anyway. This music is so stimulative.

Anyway this is why I wish I didn't live under a rock. I'm aware that there are so many bands out there, that are great that I'll probably never hear or listen to, or I'll only find out about em late in life.

OANST 07-09-2010 10:39 AM

Or you could just ask me.

T-nex 07-09-2010 10:49 AM

But you're scary! *sticks out tongue*

Mr. Bungle 07-09-2010 10:44 PM

I'm off to the Ottawa Blues fest tomorrow to see several bands, including The Flaming Lips, Metric and Born Ruffians. Now, I've never actually listened to the latter, and have only heard their name dropped on a couple forums. Anyone here a fan of them?

Also, not to seem like an annoying user (MeechShrykull1029 comes to mind), but, how do you make it so videos show up in your post?

Josh 07-10-2010 01:56 AM

Click 'embed' on YouTube, copy code and ctl+v.

Also, Ladytron.

T-nex 07-10-2010 06:28 AM

I showed Fleet Foxes to my mom, and now she loves them too =)

Ridg3 07-10-2010 10:21 AM

Not much love for this band, but the guitarist just blows me away...before I ever seen them live I always thought they had two guitarists to play live.

OddjobAbe 07-10-2010 10:42 AM

I can't find one Bob Dylan song on Youtube. They're all boring covers on there. I've been getting quite into Dylan recently. I've bought a quite a few of his albums this month. My favorite at the minute's "Another Side of Bob Dylan". It's one of the nicest, most down-to-earth albums I've ever listened to. It's just a man, his guitar and his harmonica. It's great stuff. He's not somebody I'd go absolutely mental over, but I do enjoy a lot of his music.
