Happy New Year! |
You know there's a thread for just game music in the non-oddworld gaming section.
I know.
Even though this is basically just copying Burial and Aphex Twin's style at least it's not that bad.
Hypnotic.
Sometimes I forget how nearly flawless this album is. |
Ooh.

Finally listened to this. Might be my new favourite Sufjan album. Too good. I love how he still manages to create a band-y sound with many arrangements solely through electronics. |
So you got it for Christmas? It's amazing, right? Vesuvius is gorgeous, but this is my favourite.
Now That I'm Older is amazingly expressive, too. The first time I heard it especially washed over me with a wall of melancholy that I haven't felt since I first heard Pet Sounds last year. In one song he achieved a similar emotional peak to the entirety of one of the best albums ever made. Impossible Soul is something else completely, but I think I already posted that somewhere in this thread. Something about going through all 25 minutes of it makes that ending so much more powerful. The "Boy we can do much more together" section is ridiculously catchy and energetic you'll spend lots of time singing it in your head. That's the one thing that really stuck after my first few listens. I still can't quite grasp what it's about, but I think that's because I get distracted by the amazing music and stop listening to the lyrics. |
Yeah, I got it for Christmas. The art that comes in the album's booklet is so bizarre. Sufjan's a weird guy.
I was worried that this would sound too different from his other stuff, but it really just sounds like his regular schtick, just played through electronics. It also feels a lot more personal than Illinois or Michigan. Still getting into it, though, so I have a lot to discover; there are so many layers of sound and melodies buried in each song, so I'm looking forward to uncovering all the secrets of the Age of Adz. I actually haven't listened to Impossible Soul yet. Heard the first couple seconds and realized that I didn't have time to listen to an entire 25 minute song, so I decided to savor it for later. Will check it out soon. |

Starting to understand why everyone has been hyping this album so hard. It's fucking amazing. |

Hey OANST, do you like Beulah? They're an Elephant 6 band and I think they're awesome.
Hey, Bungle, do you like Godspeed You! Black Emperor? They're a postapocalyptic rock band and I think they're awesome.
Yeah. God Speed is great. I'm sure Bungle likes them too.
Please tell me how the uh 'Postapocalyptic rock' genre is defined.
Their first album came out after the apocalypse, right?

Only thing that comes an apocalypse is a...
