Yeah fuck Rage, bring on DOOM 4!

I'm playing the first Sly Cooper atm and I'm sorry I didn't buy these games when they were on the PS2 because they're a lot of fun. Some of the mini-games are kind of annoying though, mostly the stuff with Murray, but some of them are fun so I appreciate the variety even though it's the stealth based levels where you play as Sly that rock. Plus Sly is just a fun guy and I wish there were more mascots with cool attitudes.

To me Rage was a test for what is going to come, that's how I think of it, that's how it is. DOOM 4 plox!

I just loved all the doom and quake games and with every game comes a good exciting possibility.

Mac Sirloin 01-16-2012 08:52 AM

I've been playing a buttload of games.

Uncharted 2 is just as good as they say it is, love the soundtrack particularly. It's extremely pretty. The writing isn't terrible.
It'sreally super-duper linear, though. The combat is very dynamic and fun, but actually going from place to place leaves me haunted by the thought that this is how everybody else did it!

Castlevania:Lord of Shadows. This is that newer Castlevania. It REEKS of Kojima with all of the cutscenes and the essays narrated by Patrick Stewart prior to every level. However, this also means that every combo and enemy gets a pretty interesting little info blurb. It's a massive collectathon too, occasionally you'll come across a corpsed conquistador and rummage through his clothes looking for gems to upgrade HP and magic. It's kind of a grindfest too, complemented by lots of respawning enemies worth a fair amount of XP. Also there was totally a cutscene with a Demon monster lady thing with tits all over the screen while my mom was vacuuming in the next room that I skipped and apparently missed a big stinky wad of plot in doing so.

Resistance:Fall of Mango is the fruitiest game I've ever played. It's quite difficult but there are mango smoothies lying around everywhere for you to pick up and regenerate health with. Also, VTOL aircraft in 1951? Go to your room, video games.

For some reason I got really hooked on Pokemon Emerald. Been playing it on an emulator on my PSP at work once in awhile. I don't really, y'know, give a huge shit about it, but it's some fun.

Mr. Bungle 01-16-2012 02:16 PM

Pokemon Emerald is fucking awesome. Probably my favourite in the series, must've put around 300 hours into that game as a kid.

I picked up Borderlands for $20 at Futureshop the other day. Really fun game, the weapon system is addictive and the gameplay is a lot of fun. Recommended to anyone who likes shooters with an RPG twist.

Dynamithix 01-17-2012 10:33 AM

The demos for Darkness 2 and Kingdoms of Amalur are downloadable now.

I just got through the Darkness 2 demo, I doubted it at first, but it really played well and the graphics were pretty cool. Sort of cartoonish though. The aiming down the sights was a bit slow, but I suppose that's how it's supposed to be anyways. I really want the game now, hah.

Trying out KoA: Reckoning right now ->.

Crashpunk 01-17-2012 11:12 AM

Pokemon Gold remains my favorite Pokemon game. I also spent around so many hours on it when I was a kid.

Anyway, I've been playing Zelda: Skyward Sword, Zelda: Link to the Past on a emulator and I got a 3D Classics: Kid Icarus for my 3DS for free from the Nintendo Club.
I've actually got it before its released on the store which is cool :) It's still insanely hard like the original though. I would love to see some more NES/SNES Games remade with a 3D depth.

Mr. Bungle 01-17-2012 11:20 AM

Gold version is a very, very close second. The fact that you could go back to Kanto after the main story was mind blowing.

Crashpunk 01-17-2012 11:34 AM

Yeah it was, I remember thinking 'Wait? I'm not done yet?' :D

What really makes me nolstagic is the music. Hearing the wild battle theme on Heart Gold remastered for the first time gave me the biggest nostalgia orgasm so to speak :tard: Oh and the new pokemon in the second gen were really cool. (Totodile is a baddass) They stopped making really good pokemon after the forth gen in my opinion.

I could talk about Pokemon Gold all day. Seriously.

Havoc 01-17-2012 11:40 AM

Playing trough Fallout: New Vegas to get the last few achievements I had to get and play trough the DLC.

sheridanm962 01-17-2012 12:34 PM

Installing S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat, I saw a video of it running perfectly on the same Intel GFX processor that I have so it'll run better because I have more ram amount and Windows 7 (for the Vram), My modified driver has better performance as well.

MeechMunchie 01-17-2012 12:38 PM

Played the demo of Q.U.B.E..

It was okay. I'll buy it if it goes on sale.

Awesome game, I'd buy it if I were you! I love indie games. :p

Manco 01-17-2012 01:12 PM

Started Metro 2033. Quite slow to start, but once the game stops holding your hand it can get quite tense and atmospheric.

I ran into a massive brick wall, though – the game has areas where you need to a gas mask to survive, and you need to find/buy clean filters to keep it working. I seem to have found myself stuck with no filters in the middle of nowhere and no air left, so I’m stuck.

JennyGenesis 01-17-2012 02:29 PM

Are you doing something wrong?

Or is that just bad game design that has you stuck where you are?

NyOe!s 01-18-2012 12:02 AM

I started playing (Stalker Call Of Pripyat) it's story is really good and the mutants are beautifully detailed o.O

Mudokon_Master 01-18-2012 12:09 AM

I've started play Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) and it's a good deal of fun. Probably better than WoW and free! I've been messing around for a couple of days and managed to get to level 15. Really nice graphics and storyline. Gameplay's just like WoW and you get to meet all the characters from the books. I love it so far.

NyOe!s 01-18-2012 12:26 AM

I tried LOTRO it's good but I don't feel like it's my game!

Is it that easy as they say? (On steam forums they say there's really no challenge in that game at all)

It feels like I’ve been dumb and didn’t bring enough vital supplies to stay alive, but at the same time it feels like the game gave me no indication before arriving in the danger zone that I would need so many supplies, and I haven’t found any more while exploring so there’s no “safety net”.

e: I’m dumb, the loading screen informed me that your gas mask can break sometimes and will then need to be replaced. Found a dude near my checkpoint with a fresh mask, been fine since.

Dynamithix 01-18-2012 07:04 AM

I'm really loving Dark Souls now that I've gotten more used to it. It's hard as hell, but really rewarding when you kill a huge enemy and gain tons of souls. The lock-on system could be better though.

My current set up is:

- Black Knight Sword +2
- Fire Knight Shield +3
- Thief's Mask +2
- Black Leather Armour +2
- Elite Knight Gauntlets +2
- Elite Knight Boots +2

I also have The Evil Eye ring and The Ring of Favor and Protection. Pretty good imo.

BoneyHead95 01-18-2012 07:06 AM

Right now I playing The Orange Box and enjoying every moment of it. :D

Yes, but I assumed that was because it was the first couple of levels.

Anything is better than WoW.

Phylum 01-18-2012 03:17 PM

I beat the Conquistador/Heart of Mars in Jamestown.

Fuck. It was on the easiest difficulty, but I still feel amazing.

Crashpunk 01-19-2012 12:59 PM

Again. Skyward Sword.

I've just beat the Temple of Time/Desert Temple. Pretty hard I must say.

Mr. Bungle 01-19-2012 01:05 PM

I've had that game at my Dad's for a while now but still haven't tried it. Been to busy with Skyrim. When I'm done with that, I might play through it. Twilight Princess left me with a bad taste in my mouth, though, so I'm skeptical.

Crashpunk 01-19-2012 01:09 PM

I won't be that skeptical. Its better then TP in everyway. (Don't get me wrong, I adore Twilight Princess) The only thing I can see being a problem at the start is the controls. They have to be gotten used to. Overall you will not be disapointed because so far it is an epic game.

sheridanm962 01-19-2012 02:27 PM

Just started playing Track Mania: Forever, brilliant car game.

Nate 01-19-2012 02:57 PM

Played the demo of Rayman Origins. Had no idea what was going on or what I was meant to do. Kept dying. One shot kills? Fuck that!

So then I deleted it and pushed Ico in to the drive. I still have no idea what's going on, but I'm loving it. I really see what people mean about the relationship between Ico and Yorda; it's really very sweet. And they've manipulated me sufficiently that when I'm leading Yorda around, I put in an effort to walk slowly, so as not to force her to run barefoot.

Phylum 01-19-2012 04:38 PM

You didn't know what to do in Rayman Origins? It's a side scroller. You go to the right.

Nate 01-19-2012 05:03 PM

Why am I going to the right? What are all these shiny things? Why does everything want to kill me? Why am I getting punished for exploring?

Phylum 01-19-2012 05:08 PM

I guess it's not your kind of game then.

Nate 01-19-2012 05:09 PM

I guess not.

I really was trying to like it, though. Lots of people whose opinions I respect tell me that it's awesome. It's possible that a demo with better context and backstory included could have converted me, but the instakill would have still annoyed me.

Mudokon_Master 01-19-2012 05:11 PM

I started with Roguelikes again. My favourite by far is Powder. The beauty of the game is the simplistic nature. It's all randomly generated and no 2 games are the same
(The more I explain it, the more it sounds like Minecraft. Don't worry they're completely different.)
You start off on level 1. You have to scrounge around for equipment and food, killing any creatures in your way. Once you feel ready, you look for the descending ladder to level 2. The aim of the game is to descend to level 25 of the dungeon and defeat the boss battle. The twist is, once you die, there's no loading. You have to start over again. Surprisingly, it doesn't get boring. I've died over 10 times (it's incredibly hard, in-fact, you're not actually expected to get to level 25) and it doesn't get boring because each time you start again, there's new monsters, new encounters, items maps etc.
Lots of fun.

Have you played Rayman games before? The yellow shiny things are Looms and you're supposed to collect them (if they didn't tell that in demo... well, I guess they should have then)

About everything wanting to kill the player: it was well designed in original Rayman - you can tell from the look of enemy if he's hostile or friendly - dunno how about R: Origins (haven't played [console-exclusive :nonono:])

R:O's got instakill? Woah, that's bad. There was no instakill in any rayman game (except getting killed by water etc)

I'm not that into roguelikes, but have you played Dungeons of Dredmor? From your description it's something like your Powder, but new, funnier, most probably harder (with only 10levels), and with a lot more gameplay elements

I've heard of it many times, but never bothered to check it out, but since you mentioned it ...

Looms

It's spelled "lums", you ignorant non-French fool.

Varrok 01-20-2012 12:56 AM

I honestly checked google for spelling before I wrote that : O I guess I clicked the wrong link

or FBI closed most sites containing true spelling

No I haven't. Yes, I figured that I had to collect them. I just didn't know why.

About everything wanting to kill the player: it was well designed in original Rayman - you can tell from the look of enemy if he's hostile or friendly - dunno how about R: Origins (haven't played [console-exclusive :nonono:])

Yes, I was able to identify most (but not all) things that wanted to kill me. I just didn't get why. This part is mainly a criticism of the demo, rather than the game itself, but there was a distinct lack of context in everything.

:

()
R:O's got instakill? Woah, that's bad. There was no instakill in any rayman game (except getting killed by water etc)

Yes, unless I found a special floaty heart thing, enemies were instakill. And the save points were just far enough back to be annoying for someone as ham-fisted as me.

Dynamithix 01-20-2012 04:41 AM

To be honest, Rayman: Origins is only a really great game if you don't try to make sense out of it. The story is almost non-existent.

Manco 01-20-2012 06:03 AM

Yeah, I think you’re getting needlessly hung up on stuff that isn’t actually important. It’s like Mario: you collect coins just because, enemies are bad dudes because they’re in your way, and everything is deadly.
