You know what else is green? The stars on Syria's flag. Coincidence? I think not.

NASA's space launch system is going to launch in 2018. It's a shame nobody gives a damn, except for me. Here is a link to the story:
http://www.nasa.gov/press-release/na...tes-into-space

I seriously think we need to fund more space exploration.

STM 02-03-2016 01:12 AM

Last I heard NASA literally does everything it does because only Vexen finds it interesting.

I for one, hope these cubesats confirm our suspicions that deep space is indeed a dark, cold, lifeless void. Then my life won't seem so bad by comparison. If it's just full of tardigrades I'll be a bit upset.

Phylum 02-03-2016 01:21 AM

I for one welcome our new tardigrade overlords.

Actually I'm hugely interested in astronomy and intergalactic travel.

I honestly think it's the most important thing we as a intelligent species should be focusing on.

STM 02-03-2016 05:55 AM

tbh the most important thing we should be doing as a race is working out why it takes 70 minutes to travel 12 miles using London public transport.

Manco 02-03-2016 08:38 AM

That’s because London’s a shithole.

I’ll take that triple-digit research grant now please.

STM 02-03-2016 10:39 AM

Just give me your bank account details and I'll deposit it in.

I wholeheartedly agree. There is so much untapped potential in space exploration. We would have more resources than we know what to do with if we actually invested time into space exploration. Unfortunately, our technology is too primitive as of now. The only thing that could possibly change space travel in the near future, is the development of a nuclear thermal rocket. If you're not familiar, essentially, a nuclear reactor replaces the chemical energy, used to ignite and expel gasses, (which is made from a combination of the two reactive chemicals found in traditional rocket engines, the propellant and the oxidizer) and utilizes nuclear energy instead. So, there is no need to carry oxidizer and the rocket only uses the propellant, as a result making the total mass of the rocket lighter. The exhaust velocity is also increased, leading to an increased specific impulse of the engine. It's supposed to be extremely efficient compared to our current technology. Only downside is, it cannot be used as a lifting stage for the rocket because its thrust is too little to be effectively used within an atmosphere.

Not just feet, but heels too, for all of your ballbusting needs.

If I had to take a guess, cripplingly lonely.

Australian "politician" put to jazz. This is fucking brilliant, no autotune or manipulation of her speech at all.

OddjobAbe 02-15-2016 02:03 AM

That's beautiful. Reminds me of Jazz Discharge Party Hats

I'd hate to break it to you, but watch her lips. They're adding the pauses and some repeated words in.

Also, are you old enough to remember Pauline Pantsdowne?

(Yes, that actually is Pauline Hanson's voice edited into the song)

Phylum 02-15-2016 10:38 PM

Yeah I was 2 when it came out. Surprised I'd never seen it before, it's amazing.

They're totally different things though. One is political satire, one is art :p
