No and yes. In the sense that "no, but that's the point." And even as an artist-in-training, I don't think that kind of presmise really flies any more.

So its just another walking simulator with simple puzzles repeated 1000 times and a 2deep4u ending.
At least with Myst they occasionally changed the puzzles so you don't get bored. Hell, even in the previous game the guy made (Braid) they changed the mechanics every few levels or so.

Each area of the game has a different type of puzzle. They all look the same from a distance, but the actual gameplay is significantly different.

Sometimes they're a bit repetitive within a region, though.

Just finished up Fallout 4's new DLC Automatron. Yes I'm still playing Fallout 4. I've got over 100 mods installed to make the game so much better. Hooray for Nexus!

Anyway, I enjoyed it. The robot building is very fun and has a surprising amount of options and The quest along side it was also fun and was actually pretty difficult at times, They throw a lot of different types of enemies at you. Power Amour and a good amount of ammo is required. :)

Not wanting to get into another Fallout 4 discussion, I've started to see the faults of the game much more now. The DLC quest was just another "Kill [INSERT ENEMY NAME HERE]" quest and it really is my biggest complaint about the game. At least the main boss of the DLC was quite interesting of a character.

I'm waiting for the next two. Apparently Far Habor is apparently massive, so hopefully we'll get some quests that are more RPG-est.

While I wait. I think i'm going to reinstall New Vegas again.

I'll just repost this and move on

Me and my fiancé are currently playing through Final Fantasy XIII. The only way I play games these days is with her; I'll play when we both have some spare time and she'll sew or knit while following the story.

Despite all of the criticism I heard about XIII upon its release, it's actually quite a good game. I quite admire the linear style, and the battle system—while remedial—is fast-paced and intuitive. T's more about identifying what job lineup you should employ, however, rather than scrolling through menus, seeking specific abilities, so I can see where the criticism originates.

The story, alas, is incredibly convoluted. You can follow it—clunky as it may be—after about 10 hours, and reading through the game's datalog unearths a lot of the finer details, but there's just too much going on, and the terminology is horrendous. I can't say I'm not enjoying it. The forced exposition is annoying, but tolerable, and the characters are entertaining, some of them empathetic at worst, though I don't hate any of them, which is definitely a good sign.

We'll probably play through the whole trilogy, though I hope the Expanded Universe for XIII is handled better than FFVII.

I have played and completed Demon's Souls. It's less polished than DS. As far as I remember there were no flasks, just 1 use grass healing collectable items.

It's definitely worth playing though. And it's a bit harder than DS.

Makes me wish I was a Playstation player instead of an Xbox one growing up. ):

Varrok 03-26-2016 11:17 PM

Your poor bastard ): I feel sorry for you. I was a PC gamer with occassional access to PSX, PS2 and PS3

Mr. Bungle 03-28-2016 05:56 PM

Demon's Souls is amazing, I got into that hard early last year.

Two separate playthroughs, but on both I got fucked up by Allant. Hard.

Just getting to him is enough of a bitch, let alone fighting him.

Some day.

Speaking of Souls, though, I've been playing Dark Souls online for the first time, since it was just released for Xbone and everybody's playing it. It's definitely easier, although playing with lag is quite disturbing so I usually just end up soloing.

Using a dex build this time and the uchigatana is amazing, really fun to slice guys up like a samurai.

Nepsotic 03-28-2016 09:00 PM

Yeah I used the Uchigatana on my first run through with Vyrien, it's not as OP in DKS2 unfortunately.

EVP_Glukkon 03-28-2016 09:07 PM

I've been playing Jet Moto again!

God, I had Jet Moto 2 when I was a little baby boy kid. I don't think I ever really knew what I was doing in that game.

Mr. Bungle 03-30-2016 06:49 AM

I've bee playing Demon's Souls again and I think I've figured out the one thing that makes me prefer Dark Souls, even if marginally.

Way to fucking many upgrade mats.

Everything else rules but goddamn.

Lightning Uchigatana! I used that during my Pvp escapades. I'm getting too excited for Dark Souls III ):

I don't even touch my 360 now. I have a load of games I need to get rid of now, because they're all on PC (yay dragons dogma)! EB Games/Gamestop will rightly rip you off, so I've just been holding onto them.

I wish I never bought into Xbox, such a waste of moolah.

Varrok 03-30-2016 09:41 AM

But it's got Gears Of War.

...

Man, the GoW series get boring so quickly. Unlike the other GoW series, for the Playstation Consoles

Mr. Bungle 03-30-2016 04:06 PM

Horde mode was always great though.

I got Jet Moto 2 on my PS Vita as well, and I have no clue what I am doing either. Seems all the heavy bikes got thrown out for the light ones, I'm bouncing all over the place.

I'll stick to Jet Moto for some time before I jump to Jet Moto 2.

Gears of war... What a crock. I thought I was playing something on the scale of Lord of The Rings: The Return of the King, when I saw how epic the defense of the captial city was shaping out to be in Gears 2, and all we got was a couple levels within the city and 2-3 AI Gears to fight along side that die faster than a Halo Marine on Heroic setting.

/End rant.

I know this is in the Non-Oddworld Gaming section, but i have just replayed Stranger's Wrath for the first time in about 3 Years, and I forgot that it is actually a pretty good game. This time i made sure i found all the hidden Mudokon Pop Barrels, all the Loot and all the Green Crystal things hidden in the game. Had a good few laughs out of it swell from some of the dialogue.. Even though the Grubs are extremely annoying, I had a bit of a giggle when they told Stranger to 'Take the boat down the river and take out that Sekto Prick', And the graphics still live up to today's gaming

Nepsotic 04-04-2016 04:42 AM

That last part is a bit of a stretch.

MeechMunchie 04-10-2016 04:21 PM

I played more or less 87 consecutive hours of Factorio.

I won, which was relieving.

That game is crack. Pure, unadulterated crack.

Crashpunk 04-14-2016 12:17 PM

Been playing a lot of different games recently.

Playing Metal Gear Solid again. Doing a blind runthough on my channel (Which nobody seems to want to watch. But fuck it I'm doing it anyway). Love the game. I'm becoming more and more of a Metal Gear fan by the day.

Just beat Sniper Wolf and holy crap was that a fucking intense boss fight. I had no clue what to do at first, but I learnt that when she's not aiming and running to another spot. That's when you fire. I dislike how you have to keep taking those pills to make your aiming better, plus you only a have few so once you run out, it's even harder.

I also just failed the torture section. So RIP Meryl. :S

Played a lot of Pokemon as well on the side. Just managed to complete the National Dex again after my first game with all the Pokemon on it was lost. Now I'm just waiting for Sun/Moon news and hunt for Shinys every now and then.

And just this evening started replaying Fallout: New Vegas. Tried to mod the shit out of it but had huge difficulties making everything work. So I just settled for just a few "essential" ones. Most to improve the games visuals.

I'm aiming to do all the DLC which I never did and finally play a character which joins the Legion. I always avoided it because they're fucking scum. But I need some achievements goddamn it!

New Vegas is still my favorite game in the series. Despite my defense of Fallout 4.

Nepsotic 04-14-2016 01:02 PM

Why is Crashpunk doing a blind run?

Even he doesn't want to watch this video.
B)

Vlam 04-14-2016 01:35 PM

He should really make podcasts about Oddworld (with guests like Nepsotic).

"Let's talk about the ARG...".

Crashpunk 04-15-2016 08:45 AM

Well I have been wanting to make more discussion styled videos rather than just boring Let's Plays.

Not doing a podcast though. :tard:

Mac Sirloin 04-17-2016 03:37 PM

Dark Souls 3. about 8 hours a day since monday. Thinking about starting over because I missed the mound makers covenant. Also, it's amazing.

Nepsotic 04-17-2016 09:09 PM

I know, right? I beat it yesterday With Vy and it's my favourite Souls game ever. Also, don't start again, just wait until NG+.

Mr. Bungle 04-20-2016 10:50 AM

The boss fights in Dark Souls 3 look absolutely brutal. Not sure if I wanna play it before I finally get around to Bloodborne.

Shade667 04-22-2016 04:38 AM

Ratchet and clank is amazing.

The new one. The old ones are great too.

Holy Sock 04-23-2016 02:10 PM

I'm playing Stephen's Sausage Roll. It's a difficult puzzle game about cooking sausages but with a tone less like Octodad and more like Monument Valley. It's weird, I'm not sure I even enjoy playing it but it's addictively challenging. It feels like an impressive amount of effort went into designing these puzzles so it feels like a worthy challenge, anyway.

Crashpunk 04-27-2016 12:56 PM

Ratchet & Clank.

By far my favorite PS4 games to date. And one of the best Re-imagining/Remakes I've ever played. (It's up there with NnT). The gameplay is 100% perfect and feels just like a classic Ratchet game. And my god it is gorgeous.

They change a few things from the original, but the changes are very much welcomed and help with the plot. The new characters are also good and they don't feel like just randomly added in. Again, they help with the plot.

One of my favorite little things they added was how much the characters speak during gameplay. Ratchet and Clank will often comment on what's going on and even enemies talk a lot. They even sometimes say "Look out! he's using a [Weapon Name]!" it just gives the game a whole lot of character and I really like it.

I also love how completely safe aware it is. The whole game (I think) is narrated by Qwark and they break the forth wall within the frigging intro cutscene. The plumber flat out says "See you in the next Reboot!" It's hilarious.

The whole game is funny actually. The cutscenes (Which are cut straight from the movie) are brilliant and they look really great too. (Shame about the whole copyright thing on YouTube. My videos were blocked due to movie footage.)
