That last logic puzzle bugged me for hours until I realised that my first answer was correct and I put it in wrong.

And that Warface thing is atrocious.

The seventh puzzle bugged me for a long time until I realised it's bugged on my PC and two answers are not showing in the scrolled list. (To show them you have to use arrow keys to navigate beyond the visible options). The rest was easy.

Yet another reason for me to move somewhere where tortoises are available as pets.

What are available as pets in Oz? It seems that all the local ones are protected and all the foreign ones are forbidden devils.

Standard pets like cats, dogs, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, birds and fish of various types are okay.

Anything more exotic (turtles, snakes, frogs) must be local and many of them need (easily obtained) licenses. Anything exotic from overseas is verboten.

Bullet Magnet 10-16-2013 08:57 AM

Even ones that have already entered into the local wild and fucked it up? Camels, foxes, rabbits. Toads. I'd say damage done.

STM 10-16-2013 11:32 AM

Nothing wrong with wanting to limit any more ecological damage though. I think it's pretty cool that the Australian government tries so hard to save their native species. I wish we'd do that with our bees, the British honeybee is nearly extinct because we import god knows how many other species.

Most of them aren't exactly pet animals.

I don't think you need a license for a rabbit.

The British honeybee already went extinct around the time of WWI. The current population is all imported anyway.

I thought it was the mites that were fucking the bees?

Oh, and our shitty summer this year. In the whole of 2013 I saw only one bee. And it was dead.

DarkHoodness 10-16-2013 07:42 PM

I was initially worried because I didn't see many insects pollinating tree blossom back in spring (aside from plenty of bumble bees, they seem to be doing okay for now), but there's been a bumper crop of fruit this year regardless of that and the hot, dry summer.

I've seen a few honey bees flying around this year but they're becoming a much rarer sight these days. Coupled with what people are saying, that makes me a bit concerned.

Bullet Magnet 10-16-2013 08:11 PM

I'm concerned for you. Just what about this summer was hot and dry? A fortnight?

DarkHoodness 10-16-2013 08:33 PM

E: You prompted me to check weather data, and I hoped that it'd be so boring that I'd finally get some damned sleep. It didn't work. 2013's summer was drier in the south than in the last couple of summers (I live in Essex). You can set this map to: Rainfall > 2013 > Summer if you're bothered.

E2: Also I probably should share some crap to stay 'on topic'.
Spike 'n' Barley play Outlast. 'cause I find them funny.

Bullet Magnet 10-16-2013 10:13 PM

Drier than last summer isn't hard. But the met office doesn't measure shittiness.

A typical polish band. Notice the great guitarist and master pianist.

STM 10-17-2013 09:49 AM

@BM - This summer was great for the bees, it's just the winter that was naff, and the entirety of last year. It's not just Varroa mites fucking with 'em too, there're numerous problems like climate change, pesticides, mites, common diseases etc. Bees have it tough!
