I don't care. I enjoy playing Mass Effect. Not as much as some other games, but it gives me what I like about rpg's without all the things I don't like. Don't get me wrong. There are things that I don't like about the games. But I still have fun playing them, and there are so few full retail titles that I can say that about that I tend to overlook the flaws.

I heard that the new Street Fight game (Street Fighter vs Tekken I think) has like tons of content already on the disc yet they are forcing you to pay for it. There are videos up on Youtube where people have hacked the game and shown that the content is on the disc. That's pretty low from Capcom.

I like Mass Effect too, but when you play through the third one, you'll notice how badly they have managed to fuck up stuff. Seriously, it's some of the most retarded shit ever. I'm sure it's good as a game and it's Mass Effect quality, but some of the fucking flaws are so obvious and huge that they were just plain lazy at some points and fucked up.

I should rephrase: I am caboose clobbered because I've been waiting 4-5 years for the complete Mass Effect series to be released so that I can play through the whole enchilada in one go. I probably still will, when they inevitably release all 3 games in one retail set with most of the DLC, but they have taken a dip in quality and Bioware as a whole isn't a company who I think deserves my money.

The only 'big' game companies I can think of who don't do this are Nintendo and Bungie. I agree that it's bullshit, having paid 10$ for a 100KB unlock file on Space Marine just this weekend (Oh, and it added one map. ONE FUCKING MAP.) But it's become the industry standard and people still gobble it up. I've also seen no evidence that Capcom will do it with Dragon's Dogma.

Anyway, I'm going to go pick up Mass Effect/2 I guess. Whatever's cheaper.

Funnily enough, my favorite was the first one. I'm one of those crazy people that actually liked driving all over those planets looking for minerals. Also, it had a sense of mystery to it that I really liked. I enjoyed discovering the next clue as to who the Protheans were, and why these things were happening. That's mostly what I miss from 2, and 3. The final two are more just putting together a team to deal with a situation that we pretty much already know about.

But you do drive over planets to search for minerals in ME2. They even enhanced the searching process

But weren't there also planets where you could use the Mako to explore them and find anomalies and such?

They added one planet in dlc that this was possible for.

And wasn't that level just like, a mission where you got attacked by buzzards or something and had to get Congo Bongo to throw coconuts at them before you got knocked into the river?

So, I wasn't sure what to expect from Sanzaru games -the company that made Secret Agent Clank- but Sly 4 looks excellent! Changing costumes to give Sly new abilities sounds so much better than having to play as Murray or Bentley.

...but I'm really on the edge if I should support the game just because of the man behind the game. Phil Fish is an enormous asshole and he thinks his games are better than everyone else's and he just recently said that all Japanese games suck yet he himself has described Fez as a mix between Ico, Zelda and Mario. I fucking despise him. Then again, Jonathan Blow agreed with his statement about modern Japanese games...

Braid wasn't even thst good. Between those two and the angry birds guy, seems a lot of indie devs are vintage.

I'll probably get it, but at the same time, I just don't want to support an asshole like him. And yes, Ico isn't that modern anymore, but Zelda and Mario are constantly getting sequels and new parts to the series so they are still modern.

The Japanese game industry is pretty shit at the moment though, but in fairness I'd say the American games industry is worse.

In my, example given, opinion, Gears of War and Mass Effect games are a pile of diarrhea crap, and I'm not being considered as assholebecause of that one fact. Dishonored is looking really nice, I'm just a bit unsure what it's supposed to be...? But anyways, it looks like something new and refreshing, a bit like Half Life in steampunk in my opinion.
