I picked up a 3DS XL Mario Kart bundle today and Animal Crossing: New Leaf with it. I like the 3DS.

Wings of Fire 07-13-2013 02:50 PM

I finished Dangan Ronpa for the PSP. It started out as a rather clumsy mashup of Phoenix Wright and 999 and ended as an incredibly awesome mashup with so much style, flair and character.

It's going to be officially released on the Vita next year in English, probably at a discount price. It's really good so play it then.

MeechMunchie 07-14-2013 09:23 AM

I played the full version of Kairo. I think I posted about the early version in one of my art game post no-one except Phylum apparently reads. It's pretty, and finding all the secrets takes a sharp eye.

I hate permadeath along with any negative things when you die in an MMO. I think in games like Call of Duty the stakes are already high as if you die in the middle of a killing streak you lose the potential for your higher streaks, so that already urges people to be cautious.

In games like Walking Dead, even if the threat of death is low, you still have a lot at stake due to all the different characters and wanting to save everyone.

Games I have been playing recently:
Nintendo Land - Great minigame collection, the multiplayer games in particular are fun like the Mario Chase game and Luigi's Mansion. The Zelda and Metroid minigames have that good action feel which is great for me.

Dishonored - Holy hell's bells. The hype was true for this game, the stealth is innovative, there are many ways to kill enemies and the range of magic spells is pretty good to say the least. Definitely need to play more of this.

The Walking Dead Episode 1 - A fun series to play. Watching an LP gives you an idea but until you actually choose the choices yourself, you're missing out on the experience somewhat, plus I got this in a humble bundle so win-win for me.

Animal Crossing Wild World - Great game, nice neighbours, shame they move out from time to time. I like those little social simulators, for some reason they're strangely compelling and I really enjoy the random events like the Flea Market and stuff like that.

Master of Magic - Think civilization but with orcs and hobbits. Smashing stuff and great for when you're downloading stuff in the background and you want an offline experience.

Edit: Also... Just finished Arkham Asylum. Yippie! It's fun to play Challenge mode using Sinestro Corps Batman.

I've also started DOTA2. It's fun but pretty tough. The small text size is a bit annoying too.

Phylum 07-22-2013 05:46 AM

Played a QuakeWorld duel with one of my QL buddies.

I naturally had my ass kicked and remembered why I don't play QW, but it was fun. I hit some crazy direct rockets on ZTNDM3 and was starting to push him around with LG in the end. Keen to get into it some more.

Havoc 07-25-2013 04:27 PM

Me and Dripik are playing Saints Row 3 in Co-Op and having a shitload of fun.

Manco 07-25-2013 04:51 PM

I’ve been playing Saints Row 2 alone.

I’m starting to think of it as a terrible fashion simulator.

Try changing your resolution?

also if you've got a 3DS, go buy Animal Crossing: New Leaf. it's pretty much Wild World but a lot better.

Don't get me wrong though, Wild World is a classic :)

MeechMunchie 07-26-2013 05:00 PM

Primordia. Damn good. I don't play many point 'n' clicks, but this is definitely my favourite. Immersive world, logical puzzles, and more endings than I was expecting.

True, although we could do without the lag - I guess it's the distance that does it. It doesn't really help that things happen in a slightly different way on my end compared to yours. Otherwise it is fun.

Speaking of Saint's Row, there's a Humble Deep Silver Bundle going on now, which includes, among other things, SR2 and SR3 (SR3 Full Package if you pay above average).

I've returned to LOTR: War in the North. Tad glitchy and team AI is rather inefficient, but there's something satisfying in running around as a dwarf and knocking everything to the ground with an axe/warhammer/shield.

New Double Fine game called Dropchord for iOS and Android. It's a music/rhythm game. It's okay.

I quite like it. Although the controls are a bit clunky on a tablet and it plays like arse on my phone, which is wierd as my phone is newer and more powerful.

My main issue with it is that there is no randomness in the levels, so it's exactly the same game every time. Even if they just changed the orientation of the patterns it would be better.

Havoc 08-07-2013 05:42 AM

I've been contemplating on getting The Last of Us. I've heard so many awesome things about it.

Strike Witch 08-07-2013 06:57 AM

It's Uncharted with Zombies.

Dynamithix 08-07-2013 07:26 AM

I bought Bayonetta and have played about 2 hours of it. Very fun so far, I really like the combat.

Play it on Full Mix and there's some variation. I find the later moves very difficult to perform on my iPhone4 which is maybe why I'm not as crazy about it as I would be otherwise.

I've been watching a Let's Play series and the story is definitely interesting. I was drawn more to the multiplayer but I don't have a Playstation 3.

Recently I've been checking out Need For Speed Most Wanted on Wii U. The graphics and gameplay are great, I'm just not used to fast-paced car games so I keep crashing into walls etc. I've also been playing Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale on PC. It's a very fun little JRPG/Shopkeeping Sim. It has that great Japanese vibe and the story is well told and has a lot of humour.

Wings of Fire 08-10-2013 08:27 PM

I am playing Grisaia no Kajitsu. A visual novel about terrorism and slutshaming.

http://i.imgur.com/680nj2H.jpg

I'm totally in love with the main character's narration style and deadpan delivery.

Crashpunk 08-11-2013 01:28 AM

12 hours into Saint's Row The Third. That game is balls crazy. And I adore it.

Also Dota 2. Almost at 100 wins and over 200 hours. Just recently tried Anti Mage and he is really awesome.

Strike Witch 08-11-2013 06:08 AM

Finished up Persona 4 Golden.

It's no Persona 3 but it's a really enjoyable, immersive game.

MA 08-11-2013 09:41 AM

been playing Spartacus Legends on 360. Roman era gladiator fighting game. it's pretty clever the way they've done it because you have to play to the crowd. the crowd mean everything. even if you beat your opponent, if the crowd favour him you won't be able to deliver the killer blow, and he lives to fight another day.

but it works both ways, so if you're on the receiving end of a spanking you'll be saved if the crowd still loves you. if one of your gladiators is killed they're gone forever, unless you're willing to spend silver to revive them, but i don't like doing that. plus it's fucking free. you can buy 'gold' in-game but it isn't necessary, i suppose that's how they make their money, but the game itself is completely free.

Vyrien 08-11-2013 11:58 AM

In a similar vein, Spartan Total Warrior. Fucking excellent game.

Manco 08-17-2013 09:54 AM

I bought Gone Home. It’s good and interesting and different and heartwarming and you should play it.

I really want to type more but I won’t because you should play the game before reading about it. I will say it’s quite short, so don’t buy it with the expectation of an epic yarn.

OANST 08-17-2013 10:15 AM

So, it's a Kirby game?

Varrok 08-17-2013 10:16 AM

I googled it to confirm, but it's not a Kirby game

Manco 08-17-2013 10:48 AM

I fucking knew someone would pick me up for that.

Wings of Fire 08-17-2013 10:49 AM

It sounds like my kind of thing. Why not.

MeechMunchie 08-17-2013 02:14 PM

Yeah, I've been following it about in the news. Maybe if it goes on sale.

For everyone else, it's basically a deserted family home littered with personal effects leading up to the reasons behind its current desertion.

Dynamithix 08-18-2013 01:12 AM

I've been playing a ton of League of Legends lately. It's alright with a friend. I'm trying to progress in the ranked matches and I'm now in the silver division I think.

I also started playing Dead Space 3 in co-op yesterday. So far it's very mediocre.

Slog Bait 08-18-2013 10:16 AM

I would be playing Crusader Kings II right now but NO APPARENTLY MY VIDEO CARD IS JUST SO SHITTY, IT CAN'T RUN THE DAMN GAME AT ALL.

I'm really sick of this piece of shit laptop and its near inability to run hardly any decent games. Now I'm trying to play Nightmare Creatures on PSX. The controls are very strange and I'm not entirely sure what to do.

Varrok 08-18-2013 11:03 AM

But there's a shitload of good old games which can run on every garbage! I'm sure you haven't played every one

Crashpunk 08-19-2013 01:17 PM

Just beat the story mode on Saint's Row the Third. Just when you think the game goes all serious at the end. It sends you to Mars and you have to shoot bad guys with laser guns. I love that game.

Also playing through Spyro 2 for my channel. That game is a fragment of my childhood, it never gets old. And Dishonoured again. Turns out me killing all the guards thoughout the game landed me with the worse ending. So I'm doing it again without killing a single guy. It's a lot harder but surprisingly, more fun.

Havoc 08-19-2013 04:22 PM

I have not felt this level of pure fury and hatred for a videogame since playing on my Super Nintendo. But goddammit, FTL just manages to take it to a whole new level.

Mr. Bungle 08-19-2013 11:03 PM

World of Warcraft is taking over my life. Again.

HELP

Strike Witch 08-25-2013 06:30 AM

Finished up Gravity Rush for Vita.

Really fun, atmospheric game with fun gameplay mechanics and a really weird story.

Unfortunately it didn't explain all of the lingering mysteries so now I'm just kind of wanting a sequel that may never come...

STM 08-28-2013 12:27 PM

Papers, Please.

A game with a simple premise: a border guard who processes immigrants and either lets them in, detains them or turns them away. With increasingly draconian laws coming in however, a simple job turns into a bureaucratic mess. Add the fact you're paid a paltry sum of money each day and you have a family to feed and bills to pay and it all becomes a bit much.

I accidentally let a terrorist in and have been taking pseudo-bribes from a guard who gets a bonus every time I detain someone (i.e. every time he gets to kill an immigrant). I don't want to give any more away but it's really worth a spin, especially for $10.

Wings of Fire 08-28-2013 01:10 PM

I thought you were being darkly humorous for the first paragraph.

STM 08-28-2013 02:02 PM

You overestimate my intelligence. Still, give it a go! I've played for nearly 2 hours straight now.

I don't even game really.

Crashpunk 08-28-2013 02:26 PM

Might of already mentioned I'm playing though Spyro 2 on my channel.

Doing it 100% for the first time in about 7 years. I can't remember half the levels. :(

DarkHoodness 08-28-2013 03:02 PM

Glory to Arstotzka!

"Papers, Please" is dark and oppressive on a deeper level and left a small impact on me. There aren't many games which force to you be evil to innocents to save your own skin via the means of draconian rules and paperwork... Gameplay wise, I like how it tests your attention to detail.

Yhatzee is right by saying that it could be a genre in its own right, "Bureaucracy 'em up" as he calls it, and that there's a lot of potential for expansion of the gameplay mechanics. I wonder if there'll be a sequel or if it'll be ported to touch-screen platforms.
