Oddworld Industrial Logos

This isnt so much game related, but I remember seeing an image with all the oddworld industrial logos on it, such as rupture farms, feeco depot, slig barracks ect.

I wonder if anyone has or has seen high resoluotion images, or just medium size images of these logos?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Question: Where do those Egg Nests from Munch's Oddysee come from?

Like, what're their origins and whatnot. Did shamans build them? I've done some searching, but came up with nothing.

Bullet Magnet 06-01-2009 09:39 AM

Egg nests? You mean the game play mechanic that most certainly does not exist canonically? Seems like the sort of thing shamans would do.

Wil 06-01-2009 11:46 AM

The egg nests are actually small buckets (of a kind) where Mudokons store various fruits and berries and such. The most common thing they collect is a kind of thick grass that they use to weave the outside edge of the basket every time they need to use it. This makes the baskets more efficient because a) the load they carry from harvesting to the village stores includes most of the weight of the basket, and b) it’s a lot lighter to carry back to the harvest.

For some reason Resurrection Eggs favour these baskets as points of Egg Manifestation. This is possibly due to the high amounts of Spooce Mudokons earn (by doing Quarmic deeds, as opposed to harvesting SpooceShrubs, which are too large for the baskets) by sustainably harvesting plants for the village.

I'm not enamoured by the concept of spooce. It's basically magic. Which isn't a problem when it's left unsaid and mysterious (like the Shrykull transformation, spirit rings or possession) but it seems to have been metricised

mr.odd 06-01-2009 01:18 PM

What is that red and orange thing on armored sligs backs?

Bullet Magnet 06-01-2009 01:25 PM

It's an inanimate halogen rod. Makes it easier to tell who's armoured on the screen.

Nate 06-01-2009 05:54 PM

It looks like a pilot light to me. Maybe for their frikking laser guns.

mr.odd 06-01-2009 07:46 PM

i thought they might have been tasers of some sort.

AlexFili 06-01-2009 11:26 PM

The answer to the question of Sligs in nature is; Maybe.
There are fanfics about Sligs in the wild, but at the moment we haven't seen one in an actual Oddworld Product. In the entire Oddworld world, you can bet there will be at least one Slig that has either run away or been kicked out of their job and isn't in the industry currently. Valet Slig might be out of a job right now. It would be statistically impossible for all Sligs to be in the industry, it would just not be possible to keep track of every single Slig.

There might be Sligs that work close to the outdoors, like the Sligs in the woodcutter demo videos. Does that count as Sligs in nature? That's a fantastic picture of armoured Sligs btw. Sligs with tasers would be so much fun, I wrote that into a fanfic once ;).

So? Mudokons have different levels of magic power, so it stands to reason that there’s some way of measuring it. I have no problem with Spooce, nor with SpooceShrubs (except for their implementation as a gameplay mechanic). Just ignore the 1 SpooceShrub = 1 Spooce equation and consider that SpooceShrubs contain the natural hallucinogenic Spooce, which Mudokons believe to give them a greater mental and psychic connection to the spirit world.

I believe the red item is supposed to be an antenna. It’s brightly lit simply so players can see them. It’s one of the less well thought out visual indicators of status.

Bullet Magnet 06-02-2009 07:41 AM

I did see in earlier concepts armoured sligs with up to four glowing antennae.

Where did you get the first two pictures? Are they official Oddworld?

it looks to me theyve been edited a bit, on the feeco one it looks like its been beveled and made to shine a bit. Are you looking for high-res logos? im thinking of tracing these.

Fuzzle Guy 06-02-2009 02:03 PM

I'm not after any of these logo's personally. I just saw them and thought they looked good. I've never seen them before in that hand-drawn computer edited fashion and wondered whether they're official Oddworld or just fan made images.

Question:

Ive always wondered why in AE's, abe's "Wait", is the same as AO.

I know in abes oddysee Lorne did not do abes voices but instead someone else did
But why leave just the single phrase?

thanks

Jordan 06-05-2009 09:10 AM

No, Lorne has always played Abe, even in AE. I guess they didn't feel "Wait" needed to be changed, so they left it as it was.

joshkrz 06-05-2009 09:15 AM

:

You know, the first Abe was slightly different. I thought I was the voice of ‘Hello’ in the first game but actually it was Josh Gabriel and that was cleared up later. We both did all these recordings. He did Abe’s voice by biting his tongue and saying ‘Hello’. I wanted him a bit more goofy and a bit more legible. So, it’s funny that on the first game it was actually Josh on the button and in the second one it was me.

look at part two

perhaps he did the others though :\

MOD EDIT: Corrected URL to point to part 2.

Nate 06-05-2009 10:26 PM

He was only talking about the word 'Hello', not all of Abe's soundbites.

joshkrz 06-06-2009 01:21 AM

ok thanks for clearing that up nate

UnknownSlig 06-09-2009 02:24 PM

Not sure if this is the place to ask but can I get the links to all the old image request threads?

Secondly can I get the info on The Shrink that apparently was on Oddworld Encyclopedia at one point in time?

Wil 06-09-2009 02:38 PM

The links to past versions of the Image Request topic are in the second post of this thread. There has never been an article on the Shrink on the Oddworld Encyclopædia, but there is this.

UnknownSlig 06-09-2009 05:13 PM

Is there a two player option for AE on the playstation as well?

joshkrz 06-10-2009 02:01 AM

Yes, but its a take in turn style game. When Player one dies, player two starts from player ones last checkpoint and vice versa.

abe is now! 06-10-2009 05:50 AM

Hey guys I've got a question... What are really Slurgs? Seriously, who created them? Why do they live in Necrum and in the Bonewerkz? Why are they near some Fleeches in Necrum and in the Bonewerkz they're alone?
