Got the original Counter-Stike in the sale, need I tell you all about it?

JennyGenesis 01-02-2012 02:10 AM

That game used to frustrate the hell out of me!

Mudokon_Master 01-02-2012 02:16 AM

I got Bioshock for my 360 today. It was on sale for $12 AUS and I couldn't pass it down. I'm really liking the story so far!

When is this one?

If you use Confusion on them, they start talking like actors. Another is "So, do me and this watering can have a history?"

sheridanm962 01-02-2012 05:27 AM

I just got Strangers Wrath!

OANST 01-02-2012 01:22 PM

Did it hurt?

sheridanm962 01-02-2012 01:24 PM

Oh you. What do you mean did it hurt?

OANST 01-02-2012 01:26 PM

Is there anything you can take for it?

Can't wait to play that game this year! ;D

If you mean gameplay-wise, no. I'm planning on putting it on the other computer. ;)

Do you mean you can't wait to play the original Counter-Strike this year or you can't wait to play the new one, CS:GO? :fuzconf:

Disgruntled Intern 01-03-2012 10:20 AM

Been playing a lot of different games lately. Tried Rayman Origins, thought it was fun, but some of it got frustrating. Enjoyed the co-op with Dorian, though. Playing Disney Universe with Dorian now. It's horribly easy, but playing through some old Disney movie levels is pretty fun, and the costumes are cute.

And Skyrim, always Skyrim.

I also harassed Dynamithix via xbox live. He did not seem amused.

Dynamithix 01-03-2012 10:48 AM

I was just a bit sleepy, it was 3AM or something. Next time I'll accidentally send you a party invite, I'll stay to talk.

Anyways, the local Gamestop had some alright deals and I bought Rage for 9,80€. For that price I gladly bought it. The graphics are nice but the colours are quite dull. I was a bit confused 'cause I didn't know it was on three discs. Three discs for a game that is roughly 20 hours long if even that?

Ha, no worries. I was in the middle of a bottle of tequila, and although I was going out of my way to be nonsensical, that probably made it...Worse.

I guess at that price it's a fair deal, but I really hated that game. The color scheme, the actual gun fights, how linear it was, and the fact that the backgrounds all felt pre-rendered..Ugh. I seriously felt like I was playing Resident Evil 2, like I was walking on a painting or something. I dunno.

MeechMunchie 01-03-2012 11:15 AM

VVVVVV.

It was a lot easier than I was expecting, I'll say that. Or maybe I'm actually good at something. The flipping quickly became instinctive and I eventually stopped looking for the 'Jump' button.

Got all twenty Trinkets (and found that weird elephant) without too much trouble, bar the Tower ones and the Warpzone one with the Pac-man things in it. That one was torture.

I was pleasantly surprised by the exploration elements, as I was expecting a more straight-up linear challenge a la Meat Boy, but Viridian falling through space with his perpetual cheery smile was a joy.

My favourite levels were definitely the trip-laser ones, bouncing gleefully around obstacles, looking really skilled despite pretty much just holding down directonal arrows.

The retro design, soundtrack and characters all added to the cutsey feel and made it comfortable to play.

Overall, 7.3/10.

Also, COMBINE!!!

CS:GO. I would love to play the original but I've been told it's got tons of hacks. And I don't have a PC that could play games. ):

That's why CS:GO comes into play. But what should I get it for? PS3 OR XBOX 360? :fuzconf:

If only I had a good working PC. I guess I could try Onlive. :D

sheridanm962 01-03-2012 01:05 PM

If it's for a console I'd go with xbox 360, all the FPS games I play that weren't on PC I played on Xbox 360 (Moar like XBAWKS 360 miright).

Mr. Bungle 01-03-2012 01:57 PM

I could't imagine playing any form of CS on console. I'd be horrible at it. Need my keyboard and mouse for FPS games.

Not because it's really easy to get kills because of the mouse. ;)

hehehe

sheridanm962 01-03-2012 03:49 PM

If only there was a way to enable Keyboard and mouse support, then I'd spend my days killing every Xbawks player I can. apparently for Team Fortress 2 the networks are bi-platform meaning xbox players can play with PC players and vise versa, although I don't know if that's true or not.

Mr. Bungle 01-03-2012 05:05 PM

I just think shooters are generally better on PC, especially ones created by Valve. Might sound a bit obsessive, but that's how I play them. I own the orange box on PC and PS3, and hardly ever play the latter. I don't think I've ever finished Half-Life 2 for PS3 before, but have dozens of times on PC.

OANST 01-03-2012 05:15 PM

Orange Box on PS3 is said to be awful.

sheridanm962 01-03-2012 05:35 PM

The only ones I hate on the Xbox 360 are portal and Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2 is somewhat bearable but I still wouldn't recommend it.

Wings of Fire 01-03-2012 09:28 PM

Why do you hate Portal on the 360?

Mr. Bungle 01-03-2012 10:28 PM

Portal is the only game on my PS3 copy of Orange Box that I actually completed. You don't need a mouse to aim portals.

Jordan 01-03-2012 10:40 PM

I was completely fine with both Portal and HL2 on the Xbox 360. In fact, I prefer using a controller because keyboard and mouse can get really fiddly for me.

I liked the game-play better on the PC, took more time for my on the 360.

Phylum 01-03-2012 11:11 PM

I could never finish HL2 on the PS3. Something about the aim just felt weird, so I ended up wasting all of my ammo and having to complete Ravenholm with only a crowbar. It could just have been me, though.

Anyway, mouse and keyboard v. controller is a stupid discussion. It varies too heavily on the person and the genre. Hell, it even depends on the individual games and the way they handle the input.

It's just like Console vs. PC. :D

Mr. Bungle 01-04-2012 12:04 AM

I like both. No real preference, I just think certain game companies can only make good PC games (Valve (to an extent) and Blizzard, to be specific).

Companies like Nintendo or Microsoft on the other hand tend to drift towards console games, as well as a slew of third-party companies, and ones such as Bethesda who will put there game anywhere as long as it gets sold.

So yeah. I'm pretty neutral, just think certain games just work better on console/PC.

Daxter King 01-04-2012 12:22 AM

Been playing quite a bit. Saints Row 3 the most, the more I play the more I love and hate it. I love everything it does right, story missions, writing, and the like. I hate everything it does wrong, like every other fucking activity being a god damned escort mission. Escort missions are one of the most complained about levels in video games, right next to water levels. It baffles me how a game which does everything else so right in realizing it is a video game could make such a big fuck up. I still love the game, but not as much, but more at the same time.

Finally started Rayman as well, fucking great game. Admittedly I am not that great at 2D platformers, but the controls at times still do feel a bit sloppy. I finished the first world, think I am just going to do that and get the side stuff for last.

Going through Gears 3 on insane with a friend as well, its pretty fucking brutal. Some parts get pretty cheap, but overall I still love me some Gears.

Im also reminded I need to finish Deus Ex Human Revolution.

I want to GET Dues Ex Human Revolution, sadly I'll have to wait.

Saints Row: The Third is another one that I want, glad to hear your input about it, it really helps.

Ridg3 01-05-2012 02:14 PM

Don't get Deus Ex. It's a bad game and it isn't even worth buying it to try it. So it isn't.

JennyGenesis 01-05-2012 02:35 PM

Deus Ex?

Or Human Revolution?

MeechMunchie 01-05-2012 02:46 PM

I am convinced Ridg3 must be making some kind of joke.

Pretty good really, seeing as it pissed you off enough to comment on it.

My problem with it is that I just couldn't, for the life of me, get into the game and understand why it was as good as a game as people made it out to be. I tried so very hard as well. I even played the first Deus Ex to try and get into it, but nope, wasn't for happening.

I know saying that the game isn't worth buying just because I couldn't get into it can't be justified but fuck it. I said it.

@MeechMunchie: I really didn't like it.

Disgruntled Intern 01-05-2012 03:19 PM

I don't hate it as much as Ridg3, but I wasn't really a fan of it, either.

Rented saints row 3. Too soon to tell if I like it or not. The opening mission was...meh.

I admit it has a pretty slow start, the first missions are a mix of tutorials and boring ones for the most part, but it really picks up later on.

Just because you couldn't get into it, doesn't mean it's a bad game. It has a great plot, interesting characters (Adam Jensen's voice could have been better though) and the gameplay is good overall.

Sorry, I personally loved the game so I might get a bit defensive about it. :p
