Watched Eagle Eye. Seemed like just another remake of every 'omg computers be takin' over da world!' movie ever made, with a slight hint to America and it's 'freedom'.

Still an enjoyable movie though.

I liked it, but I couldn't suspend my disbelief long enough to actually take Aria as a threat. It's just not feasible.

mitsur 05-02-2009 08:53 PM

Just saw The Day The Earth Stood Still.

It was bad. Keanu Reeves was good for once until he met the Chinese guy in McDonalds.

Wings of Fire 05-04-2009 10:07 AM

Saw The Cat Returns, Coraline and finallyThe Dark Knight and Akira over the weekend when I was staying with a friend :3. All four movies were excellent, and I learnt that 3D movies still give me a very bad headache.

Also I was wondering if anyone who's read the book of Coraline or simply knows more than I do can shed some light at the cryptic phrase that appeared at the end of the credits 'For those in the know: Jerk Wad'. Me and my two friends were the last ones leaving the cinema and we all pissed ourselves laughing at that.

OANST 05-04-2009 10:13 AM

Last night I watched "Synecdoche, New York". It was.....fantastic? It's difficult to describe how I feel about it. I can't love the movie (I'm not sure that anyone can). But I am awed by it, and possibly deeply affected by it.

It reminds me of David Lynch's modern films if David Lynch had a purpose, instead of just throwing random shit against a wall.

Mac Sirloin 05-04-2009 11:50 AM

I saw an American Tale yesterday.

WE'RE A DUO

AlexFili 05-04-2009 12:43 PM

I watched Family Guy and really enjoyed it. It was the episode with the "Where's my money" sketch :D Very amusing. "That's what happens!"

That must be one of the most depressing children's films I ever saw (next to Snoopy, of course).

I finished showing my nephew Iron Giant. Never gets old.
"It's dead!"
"Dead?"

MA 05-05-2009 09:24 AM

watched Silent Hill the other day, and thought it was gonna be crap, but i was proved wrong (in my opinion). for anyone who's seen it;

did that 'demon' with the triangular helmet have a giant kitchen knife as a weapon? cus it looked like it.

Anonyman! 05-05-2009 01:45 PM

You're shitting me.

I know what you mean, I thought it was gonna be crap. I was proved wrong. It sucked absolute golden balls.

And in reply to your spoiler, yes it was a giant kitchen knife. Used for buttering toast.

Dom Delouise died like a day after I saw it.

Well fuck.

Dixanadu 05-07-2009 02:16 PM

I'm quite surprised computer animated films for kids, and Disney films (STFO) have rather compelling storylines. And can be quite a chuckle. However, most films nowadays have a rather pathetic deus ex machina in their plot.

Walt Disney was a genious. Even if he was a paedophile. *is stoned to death*.

Sod's law. Did the military blow him up with a missile?

And Dixanadu, it's a good job he wasn't around during Thatcher's reign. The seven dwarves would be fucked.

Dixanadu 05-08-2009 01:32 PM

Maybe. Then be released anyway with an attention grabbing title above it saying, "BANNED FOR 30 YEARS!"

Dixanadu 05-08-2009 11:38 PM

How educational. Now kids will place these signs on recently built sand castles to ward away the bullies. And Homer Simpson.

I just watched Eddie Izzard last night in 'Dress To Kill'. Hilarious stuff, he's the only stand up comic that can make me laugh nowadays...

Strike Witch 05-09-2009 02:16 PM

Star Trek!

Woot.

AlexFili 05-09-2009 02:22 PM

I watched the final two thirds of "16 Blocks"... AGAIN! I never get to see the start of that movie for some reason.

I have heard NOTHING but good things.

Even the Globe and Mail, which is the most pretentious, snobby newspaper in Canada says it's good.

Strike Witch 05-09-2009 02:41 PM

Yeah, well.

Alcar 05-10-2009 05:04 PM

Star Trek. At the IMax :D

Was gorgeous.

Alcar...

Anonyman! 05-11-2009 01:24 PM

Saw the new X-men. It was alright, but do not expect it to be anything like real X-men. Ryan Reynolds as Dead Pool for about ten minutes was awesome.

Reynolds kicked ass.

Ending was cool; beheaded laser eye-beams was neat.

Are you fucking shitting me? He looked more like a mouthless Baraka than Deadpool towards the end. I can't believe they're actually making a Deadpool movie. Reynolds will fucking ruin it.

The only good thing about the movie was the opening credits war montage.

I watched Cold Mountain last night. Sucked.

MA 05-15-2009 09:04 AM

the only scene i liked in Cold Mountain was the battle scene.

rest was boring.

Opening credits were good in Watchmen. Like, REALLY good.

Reynolds is good as deadpool. Nobody liked the weapon XI thing, but if you think outside of the comic book box, it was semi-decent.

Eraserhead.

That little piece of me that's felt like it's been missing has been found. :crying:

I love that movie. The end scenes regarding the baby terrified me the first time I watched it. Damned mushrooms.

Anonyman! 05-15-2009 07:36 PM

Lynch is like eating a really tasty pudding with a feces-like texture. I'm not sure if that's positive or negative.

I felt sorry for the baby, so when its head grew to an enormous size, I was cheering it on, though I too, was terrified.

Bullet Magnet 05-16-2009 01:08 AM

I was so pissed that they stitched closed Deadpool-in-name-only's mouth. What's the point of Deadpool if he can't speak?

Don't get me wrong; Weapon XI Dudepeel was fucking atrocious and easily the worst thing about the movie. I just went in with a "casual moviegoer" attitude and enjoyed the movie. It didn't compare to Iron Man or TDK, but it was still a nice little romp.

Disgruntled Intern 05-16-2009 07:19 AM

See, I went in with exactly the opposite attitude. If a fucking movie is supposed to be about the back story of Wolverine, I assumed they were going to stick to the comics and get it fucking right. Why take artistic license with something that's already been successfully written?

I did love Sabretooth, though. He was perfect. Except when he ran on all fours. That looked silly.

Oh, and Stryker was good. I'm glad to see the 30 Days of Night guy getting work, because I think he's got some serious acting chops. Not to say that Brian Cox wasn't great in X-3.

So that's who that was. He looked damn familiar.

OddjobAbe 05-16-2009 09:53 AM

I just saw two episodes of "Ashes to Ashes". What a load of shit compared to "Life on Mars".

MA 05-16-2009 01:56 PM

agreed, but was it the first or second series?

the second series of Ashes to Ashes wasnt as bad, but was still pipsqueak compared to Life on Mars.

OddjobAbe 05-16-2009 02:26 PM

One from the first and one from the second. They were both as shit, in my opinion.

Havoc 05-17-2009 11:39 AM

Saw the final episode of Prison Break just now.

Damn stupid fucked up ending. I could see a lot of things coming but Micheal's death... damn that sucked.

Good show, epic show. All good things come to an end I guess. :(

Hobo 05-18-2009 05:52 PM

Have started watching The Wire. GOD DAMN.
