Quick question from me:

Would it be possible to utilise those silly hidden messages made out of collision paths for our own use? It would be pretty handy to have ones that we can just use.

I have a question: Will it be possible to edit the texts on the LED messages? Say for example, instead of it saying: "To sneak past the sleeping slig...", it could say: "This level was made by Jango! Enjoy!". It would be awesome.

I really can't wait for the next editor version. I've always wanted to properly edit the Oddworld levels. :)

You can edit the scrolling text, but to do that you have to hex edit the .exe of the game. Basically search the exe for some words that are in the scrolling lcd and then replace them with whatever you want it to say. Editing the text requires editing the exe, which although being quite easy, it might raise legal issues when releasing the level (Unless you release the changes as a patch file and not in an .exe form)

About the hidden messages – yes, they can be used for whatever you'd like. :)

That will be possible in AO at some point (it actually already is possible to replace cam images).

I've added some default images to objects so its easy to see what's going on, bumps up the CPU usage quite a bit though.

Also, in the next version, will it be possible to control where moving bombs move?

It will be. The moving bomb stuff should be possible too, it just uses a special type of collision path. Its not yet possible to change the properties of them yet though so maybe not..

Oh shut up, if it were not for Paul and Liji, we wouldn't have such an editor. If you cant wait, go learn how to program and disassemble and do it yourself. Everyone but you deserves this editor.

I can wait but if Paul or LIJI finish his oddworld level editor in the last holiday this christmas or the last day of next summer holiday, then i don't have so much time to use it, and maybe Paul and LIJI have time for improving their editors in the meantime.

I am not that person = i can't develop a executable program/application because i don't have that skill.

I'm sorry for it but please get a life man. I understood that it could be fun to mess up with the Oddworld levels on a user friendly way but I think there is much more interessting and important stuff in the world than modifying an old game.

Paul updates when there's something relevant to let you guys know. Since he's not updating he's probably fixing bugs that really shouldn't bother you. I talk to Paul on AIM and I know he's working A LOT on the editor, almost every day, so don't worry about it, "It'll be ready when it's done".

The faster it gets finished, the more bugs will it have + have a bigger chance to crashing the game while editing things like moving the elevator objects from the last screen to the first screen and then test the moved elevator in the first screen = The game will crash. And waiting = more userfriendly editor.

Sorry I haven't posted much lately, I've been pretty ill again and busy with real life since its near xmas and all :P

That lift crash is because in the released editor you can't change which "screen" a object will get loaded in. Also a lift has other object it needs to work, the one called "lift mover" or "lift controller", so without those the chances are that it will just crash like that (plus the fact its not loading in the right screen).

I'll post an updated version in a day or so to keep you guys happy :P But be aware it will be pretty buggy and unfinished, although better than nothing I guess.

This version contains all required DLL's because it was getting a little confusing last time :) (And it now depends on one more)

Unfortunately I'm having issues too...

I add an object to a screen (UXB for example), and it works as long as I go onto the screen and as I'm on the screen, but when I leave the screen the game crashes. Also, if I add mines, they will not work either.

yeh happened to me :/ i really made a hard rupture farms lvl,just to make the beggining a bit rough,with floating mines,slogs,more sligs,lifts,orbs....
