Trust me. |
Discovering that thing about footprints and noisy floors for yourself is really fun.
As to the saves: Psycho Mantis reads save files off of your memory card in an attempt to spook you out. Castlevania is one of the games he'll comment on. It's not really worth spoilering, but it can be pretty neat if you aren't expecting it. |
I really wish there were more games that messed with the fourth wall like that. I can't think of many.
There's ImScared, Black & White used to call your name in the middle of the night, plus some mediocre visual novel that could tell if you'd played another (better) VN. |
ImScared was fantastic for outside of game immersion. I still open up that picture of White Face every now and again just to relive that feeling. I've run the .exe a few times lately just in case something happens after the noose.
|
Before ImScared there was Asteroids-style freeware shooter I played, which was supposedly generated by a sentient compuer virus. At one point it crashed to desktop, until the screen froze a few seconds later and started filling with text. I think it was the viral ultimatum, because enemy blobs started pouring out of the sides of the screen a few seconds after that.

Never really bothered with much of the DLC, this one does sound tempting however. Might give it a go later on in the year when a games shortage occurs. :

I am currently playing Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One, Fallout 3, Quantum Conundrum, and Castle Crashers at the exact same time. It is as nerve-racking as hell. When I feel like relaxing, I throw Viva Pinata and The Simpsons Tapped Out into the mix.

Darkstalkers 3 boi!!! Preparing for the release on PSN. |
Heart of The Swarm.
It's a load of shit. |
Currently playing 'Darksiders 2'. A game that disappointed me massively on it's original run, but i'm mopping up any achievements I need before trading it in.
Just did 'Gears of War 3' for the offline achievements, that TOO will be traded in. I've been thinking of getting 'Assassins Creed 3', BUT I'd prefer to get it when all it's DLC is out. Anybody got any good games to recommend? Ideally anything with a good story. |

I only have a 360 at le momento!
Was going to give Fall Out: New Vegas a MISS 'cos i'm OCD when it comes to achievements and I know the 'hardcore' achievement would kick me in the gooch. I also didn't find Deus Ex all that sexy. |
Playing Fallout NV on Hardcore isn't too much hardcore at all. Fast travelling is still permitted, you need to eat/drink/sleep occasionally, healing isn't instantaneous but happens over time, ammo actually has weight, sleeping does not mean full health anymore (it doesn't fix broken limbs). That's all that comes to mind right now. After trying Hardcore, I don't really want to go back to standard anymore. Achievements or not, go for it.
I've cut down my gaming time due to loads of work these days, but I occasionally find time to go through Dead Space one more time. |

The only difference to SC is the need to plan journeys out in advance, and probably retreat back home to restock more often. It's slower and more strategic. You feel mistakes more, which really only works if you don't go back and reload saves.
I really need to finish downloading it/playing FO3 so that I can try HC again. I have a partial save on my PS3 which has been sitting dormant for months. |

I was playing Rayman 3, for which I'd created an entertaining hack to get can powers at any time. I was about halfway through The Longest Shortcut when the game froze, so I killed the .exe.
Came back the next day and all save games were gone, along with all my screenshots, which is pretty fucking weird. Corrupted saves is one thing, deleting themselves is another. |
That's what hackers get for cheating.
|
1) The hack caused no stability issues anywhere else, and I have no reason to believe it was that this time, and 2) If you'd seen the number of times I've completed this game legitimately, you'd agree I'd earned the right to muck around.

GTA San Andreas. Forgot how fantastic this game was. Definitely my favourite GTA (out of the ones I've played).

Has anybody played 'X-Com' on it's hardest difficulty? That's another game my OCD will probably hate me for, since it looks like getting the chevo's on it will rape me with hate.
I like games that have collectibles, but don't force you to traipse around a map or go online to find them. I loathed the Pigeon chevo in GTA4! Like, I like the idea of getting to a certain bit and having everything show up on your map. Far Cry 3 did that, as did Sleeping Dogs. |
I finished Assassin's Creed 3 and I'm annoyed at how unsatisfying the ending was.

It's EA and their marketing strategy.
'MAKE 'EM WANT MORE! TEASE 'EM! MAKE THEM WANT MORE SO THEY BUY MORE! MOAR!' |
