Strike Witch watches Gundam.

Mark W. in Boogie Nights was the best thing ever.

Yeah, Mark's ok, but was Boogie Nights that weird movie about porno industry or something? I remember it was on TV a while ago.

Disgruntled Intern 04-06-2011 09:01 AM

Yeah, that's the one. Watch it on DVD, because unless you see it uncensored it's just not worth it.

Dynamithix 04-06-2011 10:03 AM

Meh, I'm not that interested.

Sekto Springs 04-06-2011 10:07 AM

I saw Basket Case for the first time a few months ago via Netflix. Gotta love Netflix.

Disgruntled Intern 04-06-2011 10:24 AM

Now that they've finally added a search feature to their instant streaming via xbox live, yeah.

Saw Sucker Punch.

I liked it.

Me too, the soundtrack was rad, and it had girls in skirts shooting shit. I spend 40 hours a week thinking, sometimes I want to turn up at the IMAX at midnight, drunk as fuck on white russians, accidentally buy 9 tickets costing £200 and watch a film about shooting shit to the Beatles.

Been on an 80's early 90's kick lately, watching some gems from my childhood:

The Gate

They Live

The Stuff

House, House II, House IV

C.H.U.D

And one of my all time favorites, Basket Case:

after reading I watched The Gate and House. Both were pretty lame and dull, but fun enough to keep my half attention. I guess you need child memories to enjoy them today, but I love They Live. I love Carpenter. I also love The Thing (fucking best!), Big Trouble in Little China (so hilarious!), Escape From New York, The Fog and Dark Star

OANST 04-06-2011 01:59 PM

I just saw that Glen Beck has been let go from Fox News. I didn't know where else to put that. So, I put it here. Suck it, Glen.

Wings of Fire 04-06-2011 02:05 PM

Which party would you say has improved from this?

Mac Sirloin 04-06-2011 04:21 PM

It's weird, Sucker Punch ndid have a great soundtrack, ,but I could not for the life of me find a single scene that fit the music it had. They all sucked.

The train part came close.

Oh, wait, and the mayor. The Mayor was the fucking best,

Only because Uma Thurman is a fucking fox.

Best part of the film really.

Emesdee 04-06-2011 09:03 PM

For me the best part was when Bill died and people in the theater went nuts and stormed out thanks to how anti-climatic it was. Those reactions were so worth the five bucks.

Disgruntled Intern 04-07-2011 07:09 AM

I wish I only had to pay five bucks for a movie ticket.

Dynamithix 04-07-2011 07:55 AM

5 bucks is dirt cheap for a movie ticket.

I have to pay 'bout 11€ for a movie ticket. (That's almost 15$)

Mac Sirloin 04-07-2011 08:12 AM

We have 4.20 tuesdays around here. Tickets are four dollars and twenty cents. Also, the local non-chain theatre has tickets on friday nights for just five dollars.

Dynamithix 04-07-2011 10:10 AM

Lucky. We have Super Thursdays sometimes and popcorn is a lot cheaper and tickets are only 5€.

OANST 04-07-2011 10:20 AM

We have "Fuck Your Ass Fridays" over here where popcorn is 23 dollars, and they don't actually let you watch a movie at all.

Dynamithix 04-07-2011 10:24 AM

OH BOY, SOUNDS FUN.

OANST 04-07-2011 10:37 AM

I may have preferred it to my last outing to the movies. I had the pleasure of seeing Red Riding Hood. And before I get a bunch of "Ho ho, what did you think you were getting" cuntiness, I'll have you know that I knew exactly what I was getting. I saw it because I am a nice guy. And you can all die.

Wings of Fire 04-07-2011 10:52 AM

This is why you don't let the girl choose the movie.

Dynamithix 04-07-2011 10:55 AM

Was it good or really good? :tard:

In the town I grew up in we had what everyone referred to as 'the dollar movies'. It was an older theater that would play movies that had just been released on DVD, and once a month would screen some seemingly random movie from decades past. Tickets were a dollar, popcorn was two dollars. They didn't close until a few years ago, apparently.

Really good.

The parts with Gary Oldman were bearable. I didn't feel like gouging out my eyes when he was on screen.

MeechMunchie 04-07-2011 11:51 AM

Give me three guesses:
  1. It was shit and her boyfriend was the werewolf.
  2. It was mediocre and the village elder guy was the werewolf.
  3. It was silly and Red was the werewolf.
I saw Source Code. Another nice picture from Zowie Bowie, but not Moon standard. I was expecting a few more loops while he worked out who the bomber was. Like The Matrix Reloaded and/or Revolutions, don't expect to understand the ending perfectly first time. It'll probably be worth getting out on DVD to watch again. Back on the topic of pricing, my tickets vary between £10 - 15, but on Wednesdays I get 2-for-1 because I'm on Orange phone network.

It was shit and someone who they never presented as a suspect was the werewolf.

Wings of Fire 04-07-2011 12:16 PM

That's high class suspence.

MeechMunchie 04-07-2011 12:54 PM

So basically the werewolf was just an invading monster.

So basically it may as well have just been a wolf.

So they may as well have just made a movie of the original bedtime story.

OANST 04-07-2011 01:23 PM

You're missing the point, though. Everyone had magnificent jaw lines.

Disgruntled Intern 04-07-2011 01:37 PM

You should have skipped going to the movies and just rented Freeway instead.

OANST 04-07-2011 01:47 PM

That looks amazing.

Mr. Bungle 04-07-2011 01:55 PM

I got worried when I saw you said "Really good" in response to Dynamithix' question, because I read someone say something about Little Red Riding Hood. I thought you were saying you liked it, and got really scared.

This post doesn't really make sense, does it?

OANST 04-07-2011 02:03 PM

Red Riding Hood is not a Twilight clone.
Red Riding Hood is a unique retelling of a classic tale.

Daxter King 04-07-2011 02:06 PM

I mostly go to the dollar movies nowadays, its easier to sneak in food, and its only a fucking dollar.

OANST 04-07-2011 02:42 PM

But doesn't the anticipation just fucking kill you?

Disgruntled Intern 04-07-2011 04:01 PM

OANST, you've never seen Freeway? That's another one of those childhood classics.

Red Riding Hood is not a Twilight clone.

That was my fear for watching it. So instead I watched Hobo with a Shotgun, it was glorious.

Having never seen Twilight, I still feel quite confident in saying that it absolutely is a Twilight clone. Hell, they even had Team Edward/Team Jacob thing going on in it.

BUT DEY BOTE WURKET TOGEDDER DO SAAVE DA GURL DURR

Mac Sirloin 04-09-2011 10:52 AM

I don't want to see it because the girl who plays Red always looks vapid as hell in everything she makes, and it just bugs me. Also I heard it was boring.

Dynamithix 04-09-2011 11:57 AM

Just started watching The House of 1000 Corpses for the second time. I love this movie and Captain Spaulding is awesome!
