Did it help you to get the theme tune unstuck from your head?

As a matter of fact, yes. For some reason, actually hearing the theme does help. I have a bad feeling that it's going to fester and jump up at me when I least want it to and kick me in the knackers.

Disgruntled Intern 03-22-2009 02:57 PM

Just watched Baghead. It fucking blew. Low production values usually don't bother me at all, but this movie made my eyes and teeth hurt.

I mean, fuck.

What kills me even more is that it's being praised on IMDB as a great indie movie. Indie? Really? Renting something from fucking blockbuster kind of knocks it out of the indie category, I thought. Had I rented it from netflix or some other online source that carries obscure titles, sure. But not blockbuster.

/bitchfest

Anonyman! 03-22-2009 06:57 PM

IMDB is bullshit 90% of the time.

mitsur 03-22-2009 07:27 PM

Schindler's List.

Kingsley and Nelson are the best actors ever.

Wings of Fire 03-22-2009 07:29 PM

I just watched Beauty and the Beast for the first time in ten years and cried at the end. I'm such a softy :D and I can't remember the last time I felt so good watching a movie.

OANST 03-23-2009 08:20 AM

I'll say nothing. That's best.

Hobo 03-23-2009 04:16 PM

Watchmen. I liked it.

Mac Sirloin 03-23-2009 07:07 PM

Saw Coraline. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Not for the kiddies, surprisingly.

Pilot 03-23-2009 08:28 PM

I just watched Kung-Pow for the second time. Then I came back here to write about it and found that Kastere already put the most relevant quote from the movie into his signature.

Creepy.

:

Killing is wrong. And bad. There should be a new, stronger word for killing. Like badwrong, or badong. Yes. Killing is badong. From now on, I will stand for the opposite of killing. Gnodab.

Daxter King 03-23-2009 08:32 PM

Taken, good action movie, I liked it. Also saw most of the Shawshank Redemption, excellent movie.

Nate 03-28-2009 03:58 AM

Watchmen.

I have no idea what I thought of it.

AlexFili 03-28-2009 05:10 AM

Liam Neeson was kick-ass in Star Wars :D
I was quite impressed when I watched a trailer for the Death Note movie. It looks about a million times better than any other comic book adaptation.

Facsimile 03-28-2009 08:35 PM

In the last couple of weeks I have watched:
Watchmen - Really enjoyed, not as much as TDK though.
The Godfather - Wow. Marlon Brando is incredible. Can't wait to see the second.
The Last Temptation of Christ - Interesting take on the classic tale. Good stuff.
American History X - Only the second film I've seen Edward Norton in, but I think he's incredible. I both hated and was compelled by his character.
Rocky - Good to finally see what has been parodied so many times. In context, probably my favourite musical theme for a movie. I couldn't quite work out if Rocky was retarded or funny for a lot of the movie, but I liked him by the end.
Being John Malkovich - Weeeird. But cool! Didn't recognise Cameron Diaz for a while, and didn't recognise John Cusack until near the end when I was told. Very cool concept.

OANST 03-30-2009 08:55 AM

I saw a few films over the weekend.

Hamlet 2: The last act was the best part. Over all it was good, but not on par with Steve Coogan's previous efforts.

Beerfest: It was okay, I guess. Nothing special.

Edmond: Fucking fantastic. David Mamet always writes quality shit and William H. Macy was tremendous in it. I recommend.

Wings of Fire 03-30-2009 09:36 AM

I saw the whole of The Princess Bride a couple of days ago and I must say I am simply blown away. How anything can be that cheesy and still pull off being epic to the nth degree is unreasonable.

Yes, but it's intentionally cheesy.

Wings of Fire 03-30-2009 11:08 AM

The last thing I'd do in respect to the cheesiness factor of that movie would be complain about it.

Must read book next.

It's good. Do that.

Bullet Magnet 04-01-2009 06:10 AM

I just saw The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. I cried.

Facsimile 04-01-2009 05:39 PM

I really want to see that.

Mac Sirloin 04-02-2009 10:04 AM

Saw For a few Dollars More. It was good.

Saw For a few Dollars More. It was good.

All three of the "man with no name" films are fantastic. The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly is the crowning achievement, though.

Wings of Fire 04-03-2009 08:31 AM

Saw the second episode of The Mentalist last night, I like.

Don't make me kick your ass in Crystal Defenders some more.

Oh, I forgot. You were a bad boy.

I'm considering going out and buying a Gamecube with some game just to spite them. I have the money for that.

AlexFili 04-03-2009 09:27 AM

Just get a Wii, you can play gamecube games on that.

OddjobAbe 04-03-2009 09:48 AM

And pay more than for a GameCube? That's a little much just to spite somebody.

Also, I just watched Benny Hill. Hilarious stuff.

There aren't nearly enough games on the Wii to motivate me to buy one, especially when I'm jobless.

Also, the Gamecube has the gameboy player.

Havoc 04-03-2009 05:07 PM

Just started watching Leverage. Cool tv series, think I'll enjoy it for the episodes to come. Has good potential for one season at least, dunno how long it's gonna stay 'fresh'.

Fuzzle King 04-12-2009 03:02 AM

I watched Wanted yesterday and i enjoyed it.

Strike Witch 04-12-2009 04:18 AM

Watched Transformers again.

Fucking awesome.

Then I watched Beast Wars.

Fucking awesomer.

AlexFili 04-12-2009 04:53 AM

To each their own.

Mac Sirloin 04-12-2009 07:50 AM

Observe and Report. Very good, but not what you think it is.

Anonyman! 04-12-2009 01:38 PM

There's been a lot of stupid-looking movies that have actually been quite good recently. I don't know if I've mentioned it, but Role Models was surprisingly amusing.

OddjobAbe 04-14-2009 11:21 AM

A few hours ago, I had to watch a Loose Women show with Emily. Those lasses are very irritating. I have a strong dislike for how they communicate. I know exactly what I dislike about it, but I can't think of the right word to describe it.

You know, I think most of it is to do with my dislike for women. Look at it like this - the bloody suffrage movement was about equality, and yet here a lot of women are babbling on how "men are only good for this, that and the other, other than that, useless". Quite amusingly, this is most of our (men's) attitude towards them. Yes, there is equality (at least technically), but looking at most people's attitude, there may as well not be. Women are becoming too much like men. That is not at all attractive.
Then again, I am old-fashioned.

I recently saw Saw after hearing so much about it. It wasn't bad, but I've seen better. I also saw the remake of the Chainsaw Massacre. It relied too heavily on special effects. It just wasn't as bizarre as the original.

alf's brother's mate 04-14-2009 02:19 PM

I saw Max on Heavygate road. :D

It was either an old bearded man who I waved to or Max. I need some opinions.

AlexFili 04-14-2009 02:54 PM

Daytime TV sucks in general to be honest. Thank god for DVDs.
I watched Shawshank Redemption today, the piece of music I played after it? Queen's "I want to break free".

Nothing can compare with the opening credit sequence of the original.

Anime-wise, I've picked up K-On!, Sengoku Basara, and Valkyria Chronicles.

K-On! is a comedy about a light music club. It's pretty funny and the instruments are all perfectly accurate and stuff too.

Sengoku Basara is this really hilarious overdone Japanese history lesson with lots of manly face-punching and epic fights.

And Valkyria Chronicles is pretty cool Alt-history action, it's based on the game.
