You've got to remember that we're only seeing a 2d representation of a 3d world; there would have been plenty of stuff going on in the background and foreground that we couldn't see.

abe is now! 11-16-2007 06:40 AM

Ok, thank you. But is possible at beginning of AO in "This is Rupture Farms" clip, the slaughtered creatures that the Mudokons were processing weren't Scrabs or Paramites but Elums? I read it in Oddworld.com, in the Alf's answers. Is is possible?

Wil 11-16-2007 09:28 AM

Yes.

abe is now! 11-16-2007 10:00 AM

Thank you, Max. But how can Elum come down from the bells? I always thought it was free in Scrabania and in Paramonia, but Abe must use the bells. Why? And there is a screenshots in TOGG (and I didn't find it in the game) that I can't describe, is too strange. What the hell is it? http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=SSAO0012.jpg1

Zerox 11-16-2007 10:12 AM

There was already a topic/discussion on this.

It's not a bell, it's a prototype Elum trap. This was replaced with honey later during development.

Wil 11-16-2007 12:15 PM

I’m not sure what you’re asking, abe is now!, especially with ‘But how can Elum come down from the bells?’.

OddYouko 11-16-2007 03:23 PM

I have a question. How come in AE before Abe gets the chest tatto he doesn't have the Paramite and Scrab scars on his hands? And when he does get the chest tatto he has them but they look different. =/

I’m not sure what you’re asking, abe is now!, especially with ‘But how can Elum come down from the bells?’.

I meant: how can Elum be "generated" by the bells? I asked this because in the Italian version of AO I read in the story stone that I must use the bells to take Elum (excuse if I don't explain well my question) and I thought Elum lived free in Scrabania and Paramonia.

It could be very possible that bells really just call an Elum for Abe's use. I believe it is done through either a) wild Elums have a connection to the domesticated sort. That connection allows them to be free, but however calls their obidence factor to a Mudokon when a bell is rang. Or b) Elums have a connection to the bells. The bells ring a sound into their head that causes them to realize that it is safe to go onto open ground and follow the music.

Elum trap is a scrapped idea that Abe would have to journey to different areas to disactivate the trap. I guess they replaced the idea with honey and bees.

Thank you, Slaveless :). I want to change speech: everybody know that the Rupture Farms killed a lot of Paramites and Scrabs and they live only in the Temples, but why aren't there any Scrabs or Paramites in Scrabania (outside) and Paramonia (outside)? They are the symbols of those places but they aren't in there! And were the Meeches originating of the Monsaic Lines?

Bullet Magnet 11-17-2007 01:12 PM

The paramites and scrabs in paramonia and scrabania had already been hunted down by Rupture Farms. Those still in the temples may be the only ones left in those regions.

Meeches were found somewhere entirely different (joked to be "Meechonia"). Monsaic Lines is a cavernous sanctuary built by the ancient mudokons.

abe is now! 11-18-2007 12:50 AM

I read in Oddworld.au.com that the sketches of Meeches can be found in the Monsaic Lines. Is it true? And are they the "spikes" on the background and on the floor?
And I have absolutely to add here a pic because I am troubled for a thing: where is this screenshot from? It can't be the beginning of AO, because it is different. So, what is it? And is it truly a screenshot? What the hell is it?

Meeches were found only in the region surrounding RuptureFarms, explaining their more rapid extinction than more widespread Paramites, Scrabs, and Elums. Considering Abe can walk from RuptureFarms to Monsaic Lines overnight, they could theoretically have lived there. But they are the holy caves of the Mudokons, they wouldn’t have been allowed to live there because they would go around killing the Muds.

As for Meech sketches in Monsaic Lines, that sounds made up to me. Either Abe Babe is referring to a rumour I don’t remember, or she’s referring to something official that I’ve never come across.

There was a rumour ages ago that Necrum Mines were the Meech equivalent of the Mudomo and Mudanchee Vaults (the infamous Mudoncho Vaults!). The author of this idea gave the codes of the screens were Meech symbols could be seen in the background (I’ll try and dig them up if anyone is interested). But this is the same person (I think—‐I never read the original Usenet messages) who claims that Meeches floated about with gasbag bodies, using their single leg as a rudder and the spikes on their back to feed food up to their mouth.

And I actually believed this and passed on the knowledge. :p

First of all, where did you get it from? Second of all, it’s clearly an earlier version of the logo from the start of AO. It was obviously changed between the time that screenshot was taken, and the time the game was released.

Jordan 11-19-2007 03:04 AM

I have a question. Is it possible Meeches could live in the part of Mudos where Stranger is? And would they be hunted by Sligs and Glukkons?

Wil 11-19-2007 03:38 AM

Going purely by what Matt Lee has said, I’d say Western Mudos is well out the way of Meeches.

Do you mean the Stockyards for it?

Yes, I am interested to it!!!!!! Please Max, if you will find any images of it, show us them :)!!!

I don't remember where I found it: I think I will ask to OWI, I think it is the better solution. Anyway thank you Max :D!

That makes sense, although they obviously wouldn’t have been stockyards before RuptureFarms moved in.

O.K., I looked it up. According to one person, MIP02C11, MIP02C02, and MIP04C03 contain symbols that look like Meeches, but no one ever agreed with him. Someone else suggested there was something that looked like the Necrum Elephant in the upper right corner of MIPO2C21. I couldn’t see anything interesting in any screen. I also tried searching Google’s Usenet Archives, but found nothing about the dreaded Mudoncho.

Excuse me, but how can I find these screens? How can I use this codes?

And why are there some dead Mudokons in the Stockyards? They are hanged and it seems that someone hunted them. Is it true?

Wil 11-19-2007 08:55 AM

You have to pause the game, and a code will show on the pause menu. Just keep pausing until you find the right screens. Alternatively, start with -ddcheat, hit tab, and simply fly through the screens. The codes will appear in the top right of the screen.

And yes, there are Mudokons hanged in the Free‐Fire Zone (the area after the Stockyards with the starry sky). That’s what happens to Mudokons that try to escape or infiltrate RuptureFarms but get caught.

Zerox 11-19-2007 09:49 AM

Necrum Elephant? You mean the Guardian, right?

OddYouko 11-19-2007 11:11 AM

How come the Shrykull isn't in Munch's Oddysee?

Bullet Magnet 11-19-2007 11:51 AM

Munch's Oddysee is about Munch, not Abe. Without Roid, Shrykull would totally overshadow Munch.

Yes. Just felt like throwing that out there.

Next thing you know, I’ll be calling Clakkerz ‘Hickens’ again.

Bullet Magnet 11-19-2007 12:09 PM

You and your portmanteaus.

Zerox 11-19-2007 12:41 PM

Actually, speaking about Roid, you'd think that OWI would be glad he didn't get into the final picture. Given that the contrasts between Stranger and Munch and Abe are that Stranger doesn't care, but has physical strength, while with the others two said situation is reversed, those two being weak but actually caring. Surely Roid would sorta detract from that, giving Munch that physical strength that he is 'supposed' to lack.

abe is now! 11-19-2007 12:43 PM

I saw in the preview od the artbook a strange kind of Gabbit near Munch: what is it? I know Munch had to be different from the current Munch. But what is it?

Jordan 11-19-2007 01:20 PM

Either you mean the original concepts of Munch, or you mean Roid. If what you're looking at is a massive Gabbit with huge muscles, then it's him.

OddYouko 11-19-2007 02:27 PM

Is Roid like the Shrykull? Does Munch turn into him or something? Sorry I don't play MO so I wouldn't know. v_v

Well Roid was cut from MO for some reason. But yeah, he'd be somewhat like Shrykull, but instead of having the power to shoot electricity, he'd have a lot of power and physical strength.

OddYouko 11-20-2007 05:04 AM

Oh :o I see..but how can Munch protect himself from Sligs and other things?
