maybe it's because anime comes from japan

IDC. They have Naruto, Bleach, etc in America so why can't they have the Nanami Madobe commercial in America?

Your analogy is flawed. A better one is 'Why don't they use personality-less anime designs to advertise things in America because they do in Japan?' Well they tried. It was unimaginably dumb. They're not going to try again.

Bottom line is normal people don't give a shit about that stuf. Hell, I don't give a shit about that stuff and I'm far from a normal person.

Because moeshit is weird to normal people.

MeechMunchie 04-22-2012 04:36 AM

And, as WoF pointed out, most non-normal people.

Wings of Fire 04-22-2012 05:05 AM

No, I love moe. It's just... pointless. The whole Vocaloid thing too and all the other moe anthropomorphisms. Dumb.

T-Sex showed me that. I didn't expect to find it funny. I did.

MeechMunchie 04-23-2012 02:57 PM

That was a pretty good video. of Sekto Springs

DarkHoodness 04-23-2012 03:44 PM

Hehe, that was good.

Also I watched Robot Chicken Star Wars 3 and keep thinking about this - How do they make animated dolls have so much emotion?

OANST 04-23-2012 04:09 PM

Know what I did when I finished watching Robot Chicken Star Wars? I walked away from the tv shaking my head. Later, I asked someone if it was supposed to be funny.

Or maybe it was the Family Guy one. Eh, who cares.

Spooce-aholic 04-23-2012 04:12 PM

I found this OS-tan web comic.

I think it reads this way: <------

The Family Guy Star Wars parody was the most unfunny drivel I've ever seen.

And I watch a lot of unfunny drivel.

Grumpy guy is grumpy. :) At least it's better than the anime stuff that often gets posted here.

E: I will admit though that both Family Guy and Robot Chicken are hit and miss. South Park too. However the advantage of not being that up-tight about stuff like that is that you can still find some or most of it funny.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and surmise a carefully considered hypothesis that it involved the part where he threw it on the ground.

Really? I found the Robot Chicken Star Wars really funny at times. Much better then the Family guy ones.

Much of Lonely Island's stuff can be analysed as humour derived from surprise. Given that the supposedly 'funny' moment was foreshadowed in the title of the video, all potential humour was drained like blood seeping from a freshly butchered sow. And, like all of Lonely Island's songs/videos, nothing else happened; there was one quazi-joke repeated in slightly different contexts, never building to anything greater than the first failed attempt at humour.

Dynamithix 04-24-2012 01:47 AM

What a boring post.

Wings of Fire 04-24-2012 02:43 AM

I liked it.

The song, that is.

The joke does evolve. It goes from unreasonability to unnecessary belligerence and then crescendoes when he thinks a cellphone is (or rather, is not) his dad. And then there's his clothing, and the sour look on his face. This I gathered was supposed to be some downtownie wiener type, perhaps (If I can be so bold) an outright hipster. I assumed the facial hair was making fun of Adriaeieeien Brody's stupid-ass gillette commercial with his horrible goatee. The humor was definitely more in the video itself than the song.

The cellphone, and the cake.

This is what happens when you get a reputation for hating everything. The moment you say that you didn't hate something you get a response asking what the fuck is wrong with you for not hating it. WELL FUCK OFF NATE I'M A HUMAN BEING AND I CAN LAUGH AT STUPID SHIT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE IF I WANT!

There's an art to absurdity in humour. That video just got stupider and stupider as it went along, not more absurd.

Aside from anything else, every single joke was telegraphed way in advance, so that you knew the punchline before it was even finished being set up.

To be fair, I would have said that to absolutely anyone who said they liked that video.

I disagree. I think the first few jokes were telegraphed, and then the cell phone one just came out of nowhere. The final joke with the actors was stupid and long.
