Yeah, American Football is pretty magical. I've never listened to Sparta though. Aren't they the other band that formed from the ashes of At the Drive-in or something?

Yes. Yes, they are.

Mr. Bungle 10-23-2012 10:35 AM

I imagine they can't be that bad if they formed one of the best rock bands around at the time.

OANST 10-23-2012 12:20 PM

They aren't horrible. But they aren't particularly great, either.

Not bad, but yeah, nothing special. The drums were probably the best part, and the guitar was pretty nice. Vocals were boring though.

Dynamithix 10-23-2012 09:34 PM

I like this, there was some sort of a remix of the song in SSX but this version is better.

We're covering this in my funk/soul band.

Mr. Bungle 10-25-2012 04:16 PM

Love Ratatat.

That was actually good and it really seemed something made in the funk era.

On-topic:

Two completely different moods, I know.

Fuck yeah, Kraftwerk rules. I don't know much of their stuff, but this album is pretty amazing.

Phylum 10-30-2012 03:59 AM

We're playing this lots at school lately. A friend taught it to me, I taught it to someone and it's just gotten around. Now rather than playing Chameleon when we have a group of people with instruments and nothing to do we're playing this. I love it.

Mr. Bungle 10-30-2012 05:30 AM

Chameleon is so much fun though. I could play that song on bass forever.

Takeshi 10-30-2012 06:12 AM

A classic right there.

Dynamithix 10-30-2012 09:45 AM

Now that I listened to some more of this guy he's actually kinda similar to Kid Cudi. That's good.

Havoc 10-30-2012 09:48 AM

Thanks to this I found this. Two amazing artists :).

Mr. Bungle 10-30-2012 09:53 AM

Love cranking the speakers full of bass and letting this one just absorb me:

MeechMunchie 10-30-2012 10:54 AM

Remember Pericles?
He democratised a city with his mind
"A little wisdom never hurt anyone..."
Tell that to Socrates!
Telling the citizens what they needed to hear
But still they fed him hemlock!

Now, the Greeks don't speak my language
I don't see the relevance
I am irreverent; I have no reverence
So show me no deference
I'll do the same for you

OddjobAbe 10-30-2012 05:19 PM

This is the nicest thing I've ever heard.

Varrok 10-31-2012 01:14 AM

I find it ok, but not the nicest thing I've ever heard

Mr. Bungle 10-31-2012 01:58 AM

Where would one start in Zappa's massive discography if they want to get into his music?

Dynamithix 10-31-2012 05:08 AM

We took a trip down Mexico, I nearly shot myself like Plaxico.

Since you like Pink Floyd (I think) and that sort of stuff, I think you should try the any of the following:
Hot Rats, Weasels Ripped My Flesh, Apostrophe, One Size Fits All, Burnt Weeny Sandwhich and Roxy & Elsewhere. Look them up on Youtube, they're all there, I think.
Lumpy Gravy and The Yellow Shark are compulsory.

Mr. Bungle 10-31-2012 07:52 AM

Think I'll check out Hot Rats first, I've looked into it and apparently its commonly regarded as his best.

Thanks.

OddjobAbe 10-31-2012 07:53 AM

Shit, that was fast.

Mr. Bungle 10-31-2012 08:01 AM

Oh wow, didn't you realized you posted that literally right after I got on. I guess I've just got impeccible timing.

Or it looks like I was hanging around waiting for you to answer. Which would be weird.

In related weirdness, I'm listening to Mr. Bungle's complete discography for the first time in ages. I still fucking love their debut.

The musicianship is just brilliant with these guys. You cannot argue with Dead Goon's basslne.

OddjobAbe 10-31-2012 08:06 AM

God, I haven't heard that for ages. Trey Spruance was always my favourite out of them, along with T. Dunn.

I would love one of those Longhorn baritones.

Its my favourite band! Autobahn album is pretty nice, although I recommend you listening the Man-Machine, Radioactivity and The Mix. ;)
