I think you should let other people fix it.

BAM!
EDIT: I got ninja'd, not that this would really make any more sense in context. |
I think.

I now hate MeechMunchie because today's Romantically Apocalyptic made me sad.
Sorry. I didn't know where to put that. |
Hm..yeah, i suppose he finally got it right.
On the subject of hot fuzz, yes the beggining can be boring, but it really picks up tje pace. |

Easy now, use your power wisely.

On-Topic, everyone!
I liked Shaun, Fuzz and Scott Pilgrim. But I acknowledge that none of them are films that will be universally liked by everyone. Scott Pilgrim in particular needs an audience with a very specific set of interests and sense of humour. Which I have. It's like Speed Racer, which is another film I love but never recommend to anyone. :
|
I like Hot Fuzz, haven't seen Shaun because I avoid zombie movies, and Scott Pilgrim was unfunny hipster shit.

I actually did enjoy Scott Pilgrim. You can stuff your I'm too cool to like what the cool kids like up your asses. It was a silly, fun movie. |
It was terrible horseshit full of completely unlikeable characters, intrusive LCD nerd references and humour that fell flat and stayed flat.
|
It was silly, and fun.
|
Your silly and fun.
Give it to me. |
You'd like that, wouldn't you?
|
OANST is a hipster down the board, but doesn't try to be. It's weird.
|
I'm just too old to care about whether or not something is as deeply clever as it should be, or if it is "hipster", or whatever. If it's somewhat different than all the normal, boring garbage being made, and it isn't too dumb or insulting, I will probably enjoy watching it. Doesn't mean I'll fall in love with it, but I may just take a vacation from having to hate everything for a minute, and let it fill in a couple hours time.
|
That entire post reeks of hipsterness.
|
That's because I'm a hipster.

So how is that not both again? |
I didn't get any of that from it. The only thing I got from it was that the dude was so desperate to get her back that he controlled her with a computer chip. It doesn't explain any of her past relationships or behavior, and maybe having seven or eight former lovers sounds like a lot, and makes her seem slutty to you, but it's fairly normal. And I think it was silly. Silly is a bit different from dumb, as it isn't meant to be taken seriously. People are allowed to be silly, and have fun without being completely stupid.
|
I don't really care about her having a large number of exes, though the 'that one time in college' thing with the lesbian was poor fucking taste. I care about the fact that everything became so unlikeably dumb once Gideon entered the plot and the reason for it was so fucking cheap. I mean really? Was I supposed to laugh at that? A whole faux-angsty subplot for the sake of one joke?
Also my GOD I hated the constant string of references. I hated how stupid and mainstream they were, like they were trying to make a compromise between 'Selling the movie' and 'Appealing to our target audience' and the humour reached the point of being bland and uncreative. It's not like I can't have fun with a show, or find stupid things funny. I have a very very wide sense of humour. I just really really didn't like Scott Pilgrim. |
Yeah I liked the movie but some parts are just... How do I explain it, it's that stupid.
Well in all honesty it did make me laugh for the most part and make my eyes almost pop out of my head. It's the first time I've seen a movie like this. |
In what way is it poor taste? Does that not happen? Do people never explore their own sexuality, and is college not the place that this normally happens? You know what the problem with modern hipsters is? The real hipsters? It's their ability to take offense at media portraying things that happen every day. "I white knight for LGBT people, and this person thought she might be gay, but it turns out she wasn't. That's in poor taste! She should either be a lesbian, or bi, or not, and never have wondered about it!" Also there is the whole "I white knight for women, but really hate them, so seeing them portrayed as having multiple sexual partners must mean that she's a slut even though that's not the way she was portrayed, and I'm totally projecting that onto her, and it's a fucking outrage".
Grow the fuck up. It was a silly movie, and in no way deserving of having some sort of morally outraged tirade thrown against it. |
On the topic of Scott Pilgrim, are the books any good? Isn't it based on a series of books?
|
It's not that bad.
I wouldn't call it a 'great' movie but it had its moments. Okay, the film was just a bunch of gaming references one after the other with a poor plot but aside from that though it was a lot of fun to watch, It was silly. I actually enjoyed it. Maybe it was just because I am a gamer and got a lot of the references... The books are great, I love the artstyle. And the Scott Pilgrim Game is actually surprising a really good side scrolling, beat 'em up. It looks really good as well and the soundtrack is amazing. I would actually say the books and the game are better then the film hands down. |
