Those Asteroids-stlyle shoot-em-ups are possibly the only kind of game I'm actually good at, so it was a good buy for me.
The achievements don't work though. |
I'm getting the bundle this Friday when I get some money. (I hope it's still available then. If not, I'll have to get it earlier.)
Also, I just 'defeated' Riddler in Arkham City. Found 400 of those goddamn riddles and I still have a few to find. The last ones are either super tricky to get or just plain confusing. Have to look them up sometime. Gotta play through New Game Plus now. |
WRC 2,
It was never going to beat Forza 4 in sales considering it was released on the same day but it is still fairly enjoyable, The biggest improvement over last years games are the graphics, WRC 2 is still one of the worst looking Xbox games ever but the graphics definitely look better. When I bought the game, the guy that served me said "We have had nobody trade in this game yet" Now it's either the fact that the game is just that damn amazing nobody wants to get rid of their copy, or I am the only person to buy the game from that particular store? Well this photo I took below of the world XP leaderboard should give you your answer... and the fact that I have not seen more than 14 people playing online... http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/700...1111021025.jpg WRC 2010 and WRC 2 do have mediocre reviews but I do get a lot of enjoyment out of these games despite how very dated they feel. |
I found Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus downtown for PS1 for about 13$ total. They look like 42 inch plasma jpeg artifacts. Now I need to find a crummy old Cable TV to play them on properly.
|
i play with Oddworld and samp (gta san andreas multiplayer , only for pc)
|
Rage. Major dislike. The controls feel pc-ish, but not in a good way. And the backgrounds feel...I don't know, pre-rendered? I feel the same playing rage as I did playing the old Resident Evil games. Like my character is walking on an oil painting rather than being a part of the environment. Does that make sense? Like...Floatey.
Only part of the game that I actually liked was the fact that John Goodman does voice work. |
My friend lent me Batman: Arkham Asylum/City. Currently playing through Asylum, enjoying the fuck out of it. The Scarecrow room was intense.
|
Wait 'till you dig into City. Holy fuck. The replay value on it is ridiculous. Anyone get Nightwing yet, btw? Just downloaded him.
|
Not getting Nightwing before it's on sale. 560MSP for one playable character with 2 new challenge maps and hard as hell achievements just isn't worth it. I'll wait for story DLC if they make any.
Also, talking of Arkham City, I'm missing 2 riddler trophies! Fuck, can't seem to nail the physical challenge where you have to get an enemy hit another enemy by shooting that electricity thing into them. I got all character trophies, all character bios, one concept art missing and almost beat New Game plus. After that, I'll dig into the challenge mode more. Some of the predator challenge medals are ridiculously hard... |
I got the electric one during the fight with the joker, try zapping the big fellow with one arm. And Nightwing is kickass, btw. A good balance between bats and catwoman.
|
Because I'm always late for things, I've just got into Borderlands. I could see it becoming one of my favourite games, possibly because of the wind turbines (LOVE) and the overall atmosphere and look of the game. Very Oddworldian in some parts.
|
I've had a break from OoT cause the boss in the Forest Temple is annyoing as hell.
Just finished playing through Half-Life 2 for my Let's Play and started to play Zelda NES on a emulator. |
Ah, nes zelda...good frustrating memories. lol I'm playing Breath of Fire IV. Still best sprites around.

Sweet. Fou Lou is still one of the most badass characters in gaming.
|
I agree. He's one bad guy I always feel a lot of sympathy for. I find it sad that he's the antagonist.
|
Reminds me of poor Lynx in Chrono Cross, And Magus in Chrono Trigger for that matter.
|
I can't relate to Lynx cause I haven't played CC but Magus yes definitely.
|
I hope you play Cross, the plot twist regarding Lynx...Holy shit. Plus lots of tie ins to Trigger, if you know it well.

Blinding of Issac.
Unlocked Eve, Judas, found The Womb and defeated Mom's Heart in one (epic) playthrough. It's times like this that I wish the achievements worked. |
Just did 80 laps of the Beginner course on Daytona USA,
I came first, took me about 24 minutes. |
In mere moments I will be playing the Mass Effect 3 beta that was accidentally leaked to 360 Dashboard beta people. SO EXCITED
|
What?
How was it accidentally leaked to the dashboard!? |
Voxatron is really cool. It looks really nice when things start exploding and voxels start flying around. A multiplayer mode would work really well. I'm yet to start dicking around with the level editor.
The Binding of Isaac is really cool. I can see it appealing to the OCD 100%er in me. The gameplay is really nice and I like the character upgrade system so far. I can't find the radioactive spider I was promised, though >:( I can see what MM means about Asteroids-style shooter, too. I fought 3 different bosses that split into smaller versions of themselves after taking damage in 30mins. |
One thing confuses me:
The Blinding of Issac or The Binding of Isaac? Which is it? It's driving me nuts! |
The Binding of Isaac, which is based off of a biblical story given the same name.
|
Ironically, the Midrash* says that the Binding of Isaac inadvertently resulted in the Blinding of Isaac.
*Essentially biblical fan fiction by rabbis. |
Oh, yeah. I must have been misreading it. I knew it was a Biblical story but I assumed it was just some sinner who got his eyes gouged out because God is into that sort of thing.
Also there's a lot of eye-based imagery in that game, what with shooting tears, Issac with his eyes screwed shut, Cain missing one, and practically all the enemies having their eyes either sewn shut or absent from bloody sockets. Oh and @Phylum Fistula (that enemy that splits into maggots... or were you talking about Envy*?) isn't really what I meant, more the whole weaving-circlestrafing-firing at moving targets nature of the thing. Look at something like Geometry Wars and replace the spaceship with a crying child and you get the idea. *Brimstone makes that boss laughably easy (Brimstone turns tears into Monstro/Gluttony's blood beam). EDIT: :
RE-EDIT: As for Issac =/= Isaac... I dunno, you don't see that many double-a's in English. |
Sonic Generations. Modern Sonic's gameplay is actually very enjoyable now. I'm so glad it isn't like Sonic Unleashed, which was ridiculously unforgiving. Classic Sonic's gameplay is also awesome, not exactly the same as the Mega Drive games (no complaints!) but it's fun. Overall it's fucking amazing!
|
Oh, so good to hear. So, is it the comeback the Blue Blur deserves?
