I don't find it a problem. Besides if they "fixed" the physics then all of the levels from LBP1 wouldn't work properly.

Except that they would still work fine if you just pop in the first games' disk. This is a sequel. I expected a sequel to, at the very least, attempt to address the one complaint that is universally lodged against the first game.

Phylum 01-19-2011 02:12 PM

I wrestled with the controls in LBP for a while and I'm a bit disappointed to hear that they didn't fix the issues for the sequel. The thing about LBP that surprised me was my desire to wrestle with the controls so that I could find new stuff to put in my levels.

I think the smarter people in the community will create their own platforming sackbots using the direct input controls to better MM's control issues.

I got sucked into the iOS gaming craze and bought angry birds and Oregon Trail. Angry birds is fun for short intervals when you're waiting for 10 minutes of class to pass by or something.

Too bad you don't have a phone that can use Flash. You could have played Crush the Castle online for free and not bought in to the cult of its pale imitation.

EDIT: Just had a thought. Ironically, Crush the Castle's controls are probably even better suited to a touch screen than Angry Birds' are. I never felt AB was accurately following the direction my finger was directing it to go.

Phylum 01-19-2011 06:22 PM

I bought LittleBigPlanet2 for $82.

It feels exactly the same. Not one difference in the core mechanics.

The grappeling hook is cool, though. The up and down is too touchy for my tastes but I'm sure I'll get used to it (not that I'm excusing it's horridness).

I'm yet to try the create mode. I'll be sure to tell you all when my Oddworld level is finished.

Yeah, the physics of angry birds feels really weird, go slightly up and you fly over everything. Go slightly down, and the bird plops straight to the ground.

It's why I play it on short intervals, otherwise I get frustrated :\

The up and down is way too touchy. You try to get a good swing going, only to have it completely destroyed because the damn thing thinks that you want to start climbing up it. I didn't play it at all yesterday. I played Half-Life 2 instead. Partly because it's Abbey's game, and I don't want to unlock levels she hasn't done, and partly because I preferred to replay Half-Life 2 than deal with the stupidity of the controls.

I tried that on the first game, but couldn't get the silgs to walk. I gave up.

Phylum 01-20-2011 05:19 PM

I'm going to see if I can use a Sackbot/createnator combination for sligs.

I've finished all of the create tutorials now, too, so I have every tool at my disposal. I'm impressed by the logic stuff. People wrote mechanical calculators in LBP and they're going to write whole computers with this game.

I'm currently just dicking around in create mode and trying out some fun vehicles that I've been shabbily constructing. I'm going to make a versus level after that.

Dixanadu 01-21-2011 03:10 AM

Rise of the Argonauts.

It's ...okay. The plot is pretty good, though.

Thanks to Amazon's uselessness I don't even have it yet...:fuzsad:

Alf Shall Rise 01-23-2011 07:51 AM

Right now I'm playing Fallout New Vegas.

So far I like it. I think it's a bit glitchy here and there, but it's a fun game so far. I just recruited Boone, and although he's a nice addition, he's always stealing my kills.

The Catalyst 01-23-2011 07:58 AM

Just finished Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.

All in all it's a good game but the story of the game itself is somewhat irrevelent to the rest of the series (It's just another KH 1 rehash) and the only important things happen at the end. I like the fact that they used the command system from Birth By Sleep too, that has to be the best battle system they made. The game is a step-up from 358/2 days graphically but I kinda liked the panel system and the multiplayer on that one.

Phylum 01-23-2011 01:55 PM

I thought CoM was stretching it, but to redo the KH1 story again was just too much.

The secret ending is exciting, though.

The Catalyst 01-23-2011 03:58 PM

At least CoM was important. Re:coded is all been there done that up until the end, theres not even any new characters introduced we've seen them all already.

Daxter King 01-24-2011 01:36 PM

Borrowed Dead Space from a friend, really into it to far. Its kinda easy, although Im only on Chapter 3. Anyone have any advice on where to put power nodes? Im hording them right now.

Dixanadu 01-24-2011 02:35 PM

Health or weapon damage, unless you're playing on Casual, just use them to open certain doors. Dead people like stuffing expensive shit to sell in there.

Phylum 01-24-2011 02:46 PM

I finished LBP2's story mode. I'm now proceeding to dick around with vehicles in create mode.

Daxter King 01-26-2011 10:12 PM

Got to Chapter 7 of Dead Space, glad to have some genuine dread and its not just pop out scares.

God damn, that invincible thing is scary every time you fight it. Whenever I got to the room where a bunch of the fat things were around I heard a crash, and knew it was in the room. I turn around to get some distance between me and the fat things, and BAM that thing was right behind me. Scared the shit out of me, I missed with stasis and started screaming some incomprehensible sounds. My friends couldn't tell if i was scared or just acting stupid at first.

Also been playing a lot of the Bulletstorm and Crysis 2 demos. Enjoy Bulletstorm a lot more, and find myself trying to improve my score a lot. Crysis 2 isn't as fun as it was in the beta, I don't think I will purchase it anymore.

Mac Sirloin 01-26-2011 11:45 PM

I started playing Dead Space 2 with Jordan yesterday. It's pretty great, but a little frustrating in 'ambush' rooms, specifically because of the acid Necromorphs. Fuckers slow you down with...phlegm.

Dynamithix 01-27-2011 12:55 AM

I tested out the Bulletstorm and Crysis 2 demos and I liked 'em both. Bulletstorm is just crazy fun and Crysis 2 is a lot like Halo/CoD but better. I might get both!

Phylum 01-27-2011 01:37 AM

I played 3 hours of Braid today. I found at least 10 puzzle pieces, so now only 2 remain. They are both in the last world and they're both fucking bastards to get.

One of them involves guiding 2 Goombas (or whatever they're called) through a path of Pirranah Plants using the ring to ensure they don't get chomped. The other is a real bastard located in the area with the 2 green-outlining platforms and the switch operated falling ladder. I'm equally fed up with both puzzles.

Yeah, those puzzles took me longer than any other, simply because you need to get everything so completely perfect. I loved Braid on the whole, but the small number of puzzles that counted more on timing than logical thinking got on my nerves.

There's a secret star on the level with the falling ladder, and if you think the puzzle pieces in that level are tough, hoooooooly shit is that star hard to get. Even after beating The Kid levels on Super Meat Boy, I still see my greatest video game achievement as getting that fucking star.

Dynamithix 01-28-2011 07:29 AM

I bought Raskulls from XBLA for 800MSP and I love the game! It's a racing-platformer I'd say, but there are some puzzle elements in some levels.

It's really great and it's gotten mixed reviews that vary from 6/10 to 10/10 or 5 stars. Personally, I think it's worth a solid 9 out of 10, it has great humor, funny and cute characters, local and Xbox Live multiplayer, Megaquest (the campaign), grand prix and quick race -modes and a lot more.

Also, if you have ilomilo you get the red ilomilo guy as a playable character, cool!

Definitely try out the trial game at least, you may like it!

OANST 01-28-2011 07:32 AM

I hated it. I downloaded the demo, played a few levels, said "This is terrible", and deleted it.

MeechMunchie 01-28-2011 08:24 AM

Playing Magicka. It's buggy, the controls are unresponsive, my framerate is about as fast as a glacier on crutches, and it crashed when I was barely out of the tutorial, but I don't care. The gameplay is so compelling that I'm shelling out for the special edition without question. I love this game and I haven't even completed a proper level yet. It's Diablo meets Doodle God meets Extreme Typing.

Well, you hate a lot of things, bitch.

OANST 01-28-2011 08:29 AM

There really aren't that many games that I hate. I'm pretty forgiving of flaws in video games, especially in games made by small indie teams. I just plain thought the game was the exact opposite of fun. I let Abbey try it, and she didn't like it either, so I deleted the shit out of it.

Dynamithix 01-28-2011 08:33 AM

It is your opinion, but what was so bad in it? All my friends tried it out and they liked it and other people seem to like it as well.
