I promise that I'm not going to forever fill this thread with Animal Collective stuff, but the new album just came out, and I think that people should, no, need to hear this song.

If you find the song difficult at first, then you should jump to the three minute mark as that is about where the real meat of the song comes in.

T-nex 11-28-2009 07:56 AM

Hey.. Thanks :D I didn't know they had a new album. I bought the last one, but I accidently put tape on it, and the glue got on the CD so I ended up downloading the songs anyway :( Oh well.
I listened to the whole song. I liked it :)

If anyone is into weird music, try "Laurie Anderson" :p Some of it is a bit hard for me to digest, but my mom introduced me to it on my birthday. Not too bad if you ask me.

Oh and Electric Light Orchestra is yummy too!

Mac Sirloin 11-28-2009 10:06 AM

Listening to the Dethalbum/Dethalbum II. Good music to vacuum to.

Leto 11-28-2009 04:15 PM

Because that's what people who buy the Deth albums do for a living: operate vacuum cleaners.

Mac Sirloin 11-28-2009 04:17 PM

HEY I HAD TO CLEAN MY ROOM ALRIGHT

Also I was being fucking angry vacuuming. I was raping the carpet with the power head.

EDIT: No matter how many times I rewrite that it sounds bad. FUCK THIS GAME

abe is now! 11-29-2009 12:23 AM

Ehi guys who knows Richie Hawtin or Sven Vath?

The new Animal Collective album came out yesterday, so I'm buying it today. It's called Fall Be Kind.

OH MY GOD IT'S SOOOOO GOOOOOOD. I love it.

Weird, normally I love their shit, but I find this album pretty boring, save for the first song. Meh.

Wings of Fire 12-01-2009 03:52 AM

Uuuuuh so, there's this song I'm liking called Fuwa Fuwa Time...

You don't love the last song? I love the last song.

It's supposed to be a bit droney, and melancholy which can easily become boring. It reminds me of the less upbeat stuff from Feels. Which I love. Feels, and Water Curses are my two favorite Animal Collective albums.

Leto 12-01-2009 01:02 PM

speaking of drone...

www.letosheils.tumblr.com

daily drones. use them to cry while you masturbate, or whatever.

I recently got the new Sonata Arctica album "The Days of Grays," and I'd have to say while it's certainly not everyone's cup of tea (not even for some of those who do like the band's previous work) the songs have grown on me. It's probably my most listened to CD at the moment, until I play it so much that I get sick of it that is :p

Leto 12-01-2009 10:54 PM

i. LOVE. wolf and raven/black sheep/etc. ultimate beermusic. undefeatable. so wonderful.

Xavier 12-01-2009 11:17 PM

The last Rammstein album is actually surprisingly good, if you liked Mutter or Herzeleid I recommend giving it a try.

OddjobAbe 12-02-2009 06:48 AM

Rammstein? Good? Surely there's been a mix-up.

Subway to Sally is better.

OANST 12-02-2009 01:23 PM

It reminds me of The Tea Party. In the way that they both sound like they could be interesting if they didn't suck dick.

In retrospect, The Tea Party is obviously a much better band, but they're still a bunch pretentious twats. I'll always love Shadows on the Mountainside, though. That song was everything to me when I was in high school.

OANST 12-02-2009 01:49 PM

I'm sorry for double posting, but I have to share this. I was just on the Pitchfork website, and noticed that they recently reviewed the new Rihanna album. On a whim, I decided to read. I was horrified. Leave Rihanna's musical talent aside. I don't care. What did interest me was the fact that this reads exactly like a speech that Patrick Bateman would give right before caving someone's head in with a pick-axe. I mean, really. This shit is ridiculous. Did they hire Bret Easton Ellis to write a review for them as a joke?

On 2008's no. 1 single "Take a Bow", Rihanna blew off a philandering numbskull and delivered her most realistic performance to date. When she scoffed "please" at the whimpering chump 43 seconds into the track, she officially put the ice queen routine behind her and entered the realm of full-blooded pop stars. (Her newly severe, emo-boy-esque haircut seen in the song's video did not hurt, either.) "Take a Bow" was witty, funny, and as full of attitude as kiss offs come, and Rihanna definitely sounded like she was having fun with the imagined breakup. Fallouts mark Rated R as well, though they are decidedly heavier. Over the course of the album, Rihanna puts a revolver to her temple on "Russian Roulette", recalls "white outlines" on "Cold Case Love", and even threatens to crash head-on into a boyfriend on "Fire Bomb"-- not exactly the most politically correct metaphor in the age of IEDs, but it does get her point across. In a recent interview, Rihanna described the Rated R recording sessions as "theraputic," and the vitriolic, rough, raw end product is about as brutal as you'd expect.

I don't get it. There's a strange flurry of emotions in that excerpt and it hurts.

OANST 12-04-2009 11:56 AM

Has no one read or seen American Psycho?

Alf Shall Rise 12-04-2009 12:01 PM

I haven't, but I would like to read it one day.

OANST 12-04-2009 12:09 PM

Watch the movie, at the very least. It's one of those rare cases where the film makers really did capture the tone and intent of the book. It's not so much a book about a psycho killer as it is a book about everything that the author feels is wrong with our country.

Mac Sirloin 12-04-2009 12:50 PM

It's a good movie.

MeechMunchie 12-05-2009 06:34 AM

Just a shame it's not music.

Please don't kill me.

It's somewhat related. The killer often gives long monologues about music acts that he likes, such as Whitney Houston, Phil Collins, or Huey Lewis and the News. And they read exactly like that review excerpt I posted.

I can't embed them, but you should watch this link.

How do you guys feel about the new Rammstein album? If you're into that sorta thing.

OddjobAbe 12-05-2009 01:45 PM

It makes me feel like destroying the source of the sound and replacing it with something like Frank Zappa or John Lennon.

Taco 12-05-2009 01:54 PM

Fair enough

OddjobAbe 12-05-2009 01:54 PM

Feel free to lay into me and put down my kind of music. A dickish comment deserves a dickish response.

Leto 12-05-2009 02:02 PM

To be perfectly honest, I really fucking hate Frank Zappa and Mr Bungle. And I'm not trolling. I fucking hate them.
