Is it? Internet gave me an impression it was the MO of the Banjo Kazooie games. I never played it, though.

It's one of my all time favorite games. I like it better than the first two. But it's very, very different. Also, not having other people to play with (since it's been so long since it came out) may hamper a new comer's enjoyment. I still love it, though.

Varrok 01-07-2017 11:18 AM

Have you played Conker's Bad Fur Day? It's the closest to Banjo I have ever played

A friend of mine used to recommend Nuts N Bolts to me every time we saw it in the game store, and I bought it after like the twelfth time but never got around to playing it. What do you mean about it being better with other people – is it multiplayer, or a game that benefits from a group passing the controller round?

Shade667 01-08-2017 02:26 AM

Got XCOM 2. If ur getting it on console u better be a huge XCOM fan (which I am) or ur gonna be sitting through 1-3 minute loading screens. Cant speak for PC, but id imagine it would better.

Also stardew valley is godlike.

Nuts N Bolts is basically a vehicle creation game, and it's surprisingly very, very deep. Every time the game throws a new challenge at you, you're going to try to create a vehicle that you think will work for it. Your first attempt will probably not work at all, but you'll go back to the drawing board with a decent idea of why it didn't work (too heavy, too light, not aerodynamic enough, too aerodynamic ((yes, that can be an actual problem), too little fuel, wrong weaponry, add retractable wings to switch between ground and sky, that sort of thing. Your second attempt probably still won't work, but it's close. Your third should be serviceable. Come back later in the game with more parts, and better ideas, and you'll destroy the challenge, getting a better time, and more unlocked stuff.

The multiplayer aspect gives you dozens of different race modes to play against other people with their own creations. There's also a sandbox area called the Test O Track where you can hang out with other people, and just dick around in the different things you made. You learn a lot from this mode. Also, you can share vehicle blueprints with friends, which they can improve upon, and share back with you.

The game itself is so goddamn pretty, and there's so much to do in it, I probably spent a solid 150 hours getting 100% in it back in the day.

Yes, Varrok, I played Conker. It's fun, and I guess kind of like the first two Banjo games, but more linear than they were.

Xavier 01-10-2017 05:46 AM

I'm playing The Cave as it came free with Xbox Live Gold.

Liking that game a lot, should have bought it when it first came out, now I feel like I'm being cheap with Double Fine :p

If you like point and click games but don't like to point and click you should check this game out. :)

OANST 01-10-2017 06:30 AM

If you want to make up for it, buy Headlander. It's the best game they've made in a really long time.

I just wrote a massive essay on why DS2 is nowhere near the level of 1 and lost it when my phone decided to disconnect from the internet.

Summary: 1 is amazing, 2 is shit, 3 is amazing and has the best boss fights in the series. It's the most fun but 1 is probably better in terms of world design.

Also, I find it weird how you hate 2's DLC, it's almost on par with 1 in terms of quality.

I think I was pretty bitter when I made that post. I might have to revisit 2's DLC soon now that I've had some time away from it.

I’ve started playing Hitman and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

I very much enjoyed Blood Money and spent a longass time getting the perfect stealth kills for each mission, but I found Absolution to be much less interesting. Hitman (or as it’s officially named, HITMAN™) seems to basically be a larger game in the vein of Blood Money, with Absolution’s graphics engine and online features. The episodic format works alright and is priced fairly, and it encourages you to get the most out of each episode’s extra content. It’s such a satisfying game if you enjoy stealth and subterfuge, and especially if you enjoyed Blood Money.

MGSV is the first mainline MGS game I’ve played, since I’ve found the previous entries to have disagreeable control schemes and gameplay styles – I’ve enjoyed them through Let’s Plays instead. V seems to hit the sweet spot for me between easy to pick up and deep enough to be really fun; the open world, variety of loadout options and the number of ways you can approach missions because of that is exactly what I hope for in this sort of game. It’s missing a lot of the weirder MGS nonsense, but I don’t mind since it works in favor of the more serious tone Kojima was going for.

Oh no, it doesn't. It's just pushed further into the game.

Older MGS games have a sharper learning curve to them than a lot of other games do, and the older entries in the series in particular have clunky controls as part of that.

I should add I’ve already seen most of the game in video form – the weirdness is definitely way more subdued. It’s mostly down to the general lack of cutscenes, crazy boss characters, and the more serious tone of the voice acting and script. Also, the absence of nanomachines.

That's a surprising opinion. I've always considered the MGS franchise games with great controls, and I can't simply remember any difficulty spike early in the games, and to me they started pretty ok-easy. They even have all difficulty settings, with the lowest ones being so easy that's almost unplayable for me.

I'll just say that after you get the credits, it's not the end of the game yet, there are further missions which you, for the sake of argument, should play :P

They’re basically like big, well-oiled machines: they work very consistently and once you learn the mechanics, they will always work – but there’s so much that you have to learn up front to be able to do anything that it can be very perplexing if you’re not used to it.

I know. I’ve not personally seen it, but I’ve read all about the twists in the ending.

I played the "remaster" of AC2 + BH + Revelations. Since i'm a Big Fan of the Series. But got to say, even they didn't make any changes(even old Bugs are included!), it was awesome playin' them again.

Right now, i'm up at the Arkham Trilogy. Beated the First Part of the Story a while ago. Now i'm at Arkham City & im really impressed of the Series. Need to play all 3 of them, before i catch myself up with Kingdom Hearts 2.8 . And now that Soulstorm is incoming, i know already my new Project after KH. This is going to be a great Year for Gaming to me.

Alf Shall Rise 01-21-2017 06:49 AM

I played Star Wars Bounty Hunter again last night after not playing it for over a decade, and man, now that I'm older I realize how bad that game is.

I still like it though.

Pohatta 01-23-2017 02:37 AM

Titan Quest Anniversary Edition.

tmakz 01-24-2017 02:29 AM

I don't know. Are you playing Pokemon Go? This is the 'What are you playing right now?' thread... :p

Varrok 01-24-2017 10:18 PM

At the moment I'm playing the "Don't fall asleep at work" game. It's not a video game, it's one of these fancy IRL games.

The video game I played yesterday is Parappa the Rapper. This game has a broken timing and/or unclear rules, and it's gonna drive you a little mad on the Normal difficulty, but the visuals and presentation is great. Everything in this game could be a meme.

For Gods sake! Stop the hate, Nate !

E: before the Toxic Nate comes back cuz of no reasons, im playing now Brave Frontier RPG.

Crashpunk 01-25-2017 09:24 AM

Still playing the loving christ out of Overwatch. As you can probably tell by the avatar. The new event just came out and they added a Capture the Flag mode. Always loved that mode in other games, especially in TF2. So I'm glad to play it in Overwatch.

Apart from that, I played Donkey Kong Country for the first time with a mate and enjoyed the hell out of it. It gets pretty tough at times, The controls were a little weird to get used to at first, but I picked it up quite easily. It's a very solid platformer which I've been told only gets better in 2.

I do actually. I still have a friend who plays it, so we sometimes just wander out and get the stops and stuff. It's a nice chill game which gets me outside. Although I do miss the times in the summer when I used to join huge groups of people playing the game. I highly doubt that game will ever have that much amount of popularity again.

Nate told me he doesn't like you.

I'm playing Mega Man 9 because I want to.

Varrok 01-25-2017 12:22 PM

Well today I played UnJammer Lammy. It's a spinoff of Parappa the Rapper. If you loved the former, you're gonna love this one as well.

They fixed up the timing detection a bit, although now it requires mashing more buttons faster, so, yeah, you're still gonna be mad.

Alf Shall Rise 01-25-2017 12:44 PM

I played Resident Evil 7 with VR yesterday and it creeped the hell out of me up until the first encounter with the protagonist's wife. That wasn't creepy at all. It was fun though. I only played for about half an hour but so far I really enjoy it. Though to be fair, it would be really unimpressive without VR (from what I've played).

Mega Man 9 is awesome. Huge Mega Man fan myself. Though IMO Mega Man 10 was better. Though some of the 360 achievements were down right impossible.

Mr. Bungle 01-31-2017 11:52 PM

I've been playing too many games. Most recently started a new file in Final Fantasy V because I'm an idiot and ended up with a dumb magicless team on my first run. So yeah. Started over.

Might be my favourite FF game from a pure gameplay/roleplaying perspective. Story is pretty whatever and dumb, but works perfectly fine for the game so I don't care.

horiZon 02-05-2017 02:38 AM

Started Batman: Arkham Knight today. Cuz i love Scarecrow. But, i don't like a GTA - Style with the Batmobile. I prefer more the hidden Kill Strategy in the past 2 games.

Mr. Bungle 02-24-2017 02:12 PM

I've been playing too mucn Monster Hunter and I've still barely scratched the surface.

fuck

Lord Vhazen 02-24-2017 04:13 PM

I've been switching between Creatures 3, Halo Wars 2, TF2 and Black Ops 2.
I'm mostly just trying to learn the ropes of Halo Wars 2 and its new gameplay in multiplayer. I'm doing pretty shitty since I seem to be going up against people who already have experience with the beta, but I'm a fast learner so far.

At any rate, the playerbase doesn't seem as invincible as Starcraft II's elite leaderboards so far.

TheParamitePie 03-02-2017 01:34 AM

I've been playing through New 'n' Tasty again, but in non in non Oddworld gaming I've been playing 7 days to die and The force unleashed. It was free with XL Gold for 360 this month so I figured I'd give it a go.

Phoetux 03-02-2017 11:06 AM

Playing Age of Mythology. I'm addicted to it now. again...
Perfect meme content tho

Apart from replaying Oddworld, Overwatch!

Shrykull43 03-19-2017 10:25 AM

I've been playing FFXV and there are a lot of things I like, it's more like the old games mixed with a little DA: Inquisition, and is leagues better than FFXIII (any of them). The only thing I dont like is it seems way too scripted for me. Everything has to be done in order and there are no workarounds for locked areas (like leveling up the chocobo in FFIX). For the first while this didn't bother me but now that I'm almost 100 hours in, it's incredibly frustrating as well as the fact that as far as I can see the whole fucking game looks exactly the same. Also shout out to the new XP system, and the nixperience band, it kicks ass.

Acclivius 03-25-2017 07:57 AM

I've been playing a lot of virtual pet games like Dragon Cave and Furvilla. Also been playing Zelda Breath of the Wild. It's really good so far!

Is it worth a buy?

Yokai 04-08-2017 05:44 PM

I just finished MediEvil, and am now playing The Legend of Mana and Tomba!

AlexFili 04-14-2017 05:04 AM

I've been holding back on quite a few new games as I'm trying to complete some of the older ones I didn't play much such as Witcher 3. Pretty much finished all of MGS: Phantom Pain now so I'm mopping up sidequests and fultoning the skulls unit so I can get some sweet camo/ability unlocks. Decided to play Wave Race 64 again, it has such good courses, even if the graphics are a bit jagged in this day and age. Besides that I can't wait for Shadow of War to come out as that looks so good! (I played Shadow of Mordor for a very long time)
