I think Operation Raccoon City actually undermines a lot of the groundwork laid down by Capcom in Resident Evil 2. The inconsistency in the trailer of how Leon arrives for example, and the fact that while he's battling for survival with a pistol in a police station wiped out by zombies, a police station where the inhabitants were no doubt armed with pistols and rifles but were nevertheless overwhelmed, there is a battle between two groups of hazchem suit wearing ponces armed to the teeth, it ruins a lot of that 'survival horror' feeling that the game pioneered so early in gaming history. Oh an also...
:
Until they make a game that makes me shit myself to turn into another corridor I won't be happy. But then, it's a new era of gaming and I don't like it. EDIT: Oh and from 2:10 in the trailer....whaaaaa?!!? When did that happen in the original? O_O |

|
That's my point, they were overwhelmed yet these other guys being dropped in aren't, I suppose they're more prepared though.

N'aww I never minded Leon, I mean as far as RE protagonists go, he wasn't so bad.
|
Apparently, the XCOM game that was supposed to come out this summer has been delayed until 2013. Well, it looked pretty shit anyways.
|
I'm not gonna miss it (FPS) - imho it looked totally unoriginal and uninteresting... with a little to no connections to original XCOM series
|
I thought xcom looked great. Fuck your opinions.
|
Looked meh to me. The shooter genre is so over saturated at this point I only even bother with ones I know I'll love(Halo 4, Borderlands 2) or ones that do something to set themselves apart(Prey 2). X-Com looked like neither.
EDIT: Damnit, it appears THQ is pretty much dead. They have cancelled their entire 2014 lineup and are currently looking for buyers. This makes me sad as I love Darksiders, Red Faction, and Saints Row. I was also looking forward to Devil's Third and Del Toro's new game. Hope someone buys them up and saves all those great IPs and games. |

http://cdn.gamerant.com/wp-content/u...COM-Vortex.jpg Check out that sucker. I can't say what the GP'll be like, but who can? Honestly, the only thing wrong with that game is the title. If you called it 'Attack of the Cubes' no-one would be complaining. |
I can honestly say that sucker is the only thing that doesn't suck (irony) in my opinion. I really dislike the aliens, it's like devs had no idea how to design aliens and then one of them said: "WHO NEEDS ORIGINAL DESIGN, LETS MAKE THEM LOOK LIKE IRREGULAR SHAPES OR SOME OTHER SH*T" and everybody agreed because of lack of other ideas. I think it's so forgettable... AND I DIDN'T EVEN START PLAYING!
|
Shifting glowing cuboids are more convincingly original and alien than most of the enemies we get in games.
:
Have you played it? oh right |
I think he was referring to the designs being forgettable, considering thats what the rest of the post was about.

I don't know, maybe it's me, but I feel huge difference when I e.g. look at Bioshock Launch Trailer ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoYorK3E4aM ) and 2K's next game's (XCOM) trailer from E3 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdVb4UnqO7A ):
On the first movie I see interesting scenery, everything's really climatic (with old, happy music contrasting to drastic scenes I see), there's a lot of dynamism, creative-looking enemies and (semi) innovative gameplay mechanisms (you know, plasmids etc.). Some individual elements may look cliche, but the way the developers combine them is unique. When I look at XCOM's trailer... well... okay, there's a city based on those from 'fifties, but it looks... just boring, there's no music - even for a moment at the beginning, then I see some characters: a woman and 2 men... the woman looks pretty ok, but when I look at that grumpy guy I'm confused and can't tell if it was supposed to be realistic or it's a cartoon... he just looks extremely silly, even for '50 standards... then we cut to scenes showing aliens moving and leaving bodies - I think it looks like a rip-off from a BAD lowbudget horror - 1:05 - "Oh no a dead body and no sign of the murderer *scream*"... then there's a gameplay scene with a shotgun... You're shooting shapeless aliens with a shotgun... and then you're shooting more of the same type of aliens with a shotgun... then you change a weapon to some sort of electric one and you zap the same type of aliens - I honestly think I'd be bored if I had to shoot the same thing over and over again (and I don't think i'd like to shoot many small round objects [it's annoying, it's ok if it's not that common]) - I know there might be some more types in final game, but it's a trailer and it's supposed to show the game from its best side... then comes "sucker" scene, which is neat, I have nothing to say here, but it's only less than 1/3 of the whole trailer... That's the longest post I wrote since I joined here : o with the biggest number of spelling/grammar/whatever errors |
The 2011 trailer seems to depart from the blobs of ink in the first trailer. Though, the enemies look pretty unimaginative either way. I do like the part where the trailer says "Study Them" and the player simply shoots the ink with a shotgun.

Oh, I haven't seen that trailer before (I still don't like the game and wouldn't buy it)
:
Why are there human-shaped aliens now? It looks even dumber: shaping as humans when you're capable of shaping as anything... aliens should look like something more ideal (for fight)... and: Google images - > Necrons |
Bah humbug, too many games jumping on the 50s bandwagon.
|
I just read some stuff about Kindgoms of Alamur: Reckoning. I'm now very excited about getting this next month.
Sadly, the trailer I watched was on a disk that came with a magazine and I can't find it on the internet. None of the others seem quite as good. |

Is this it? It looks pretty cool actually, I might just pick it up. |
And if you play the demos for Kingdoms of Amalur and Mass Effect 3, you unlock in-game stuff to both games. Kind of neat. I'm pretty interested in Amalur too, looks cool.
|
EDIT: I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO HALO 4
|
I think you got the threads mixed up.
|
I soytanly did.
|
They only deny cancelling the 2014 lineup and address none of the other issues, even though they mention the MMO, they dont say whether it is cancelled or not. All the other rumors aren't addressed at all, so Im not so sure about it right now. Also, their stock is currently less than a dollar.

This is rumoured to be a viral campaign for Resident Evil 6. Doesn't seem too far fetched.

Resident Evil 6? I doubt it: Too much disturbing images/horror things and too less shooting stuff

Erudite? World's #1 poetry simulator.

I just got my hype on for the new SSX after watching a bunch of new trailers of it.
It's been so long since I played an SSX game. It looks so fun, I think I'm going to get this. And to be honest, as much as some of you people hate dubstep, this seems like a game where that kind of music would fit perfectly. EDIT: Newsflash! Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition's trailer is awesome. It comes out in February. Oh, and Deadlight's first teaser looks interesting to say the least. Also, someone who's supposedly working in Capcom said that RE6 will be revealed very soon and that the main protagonists are Leon and Chris. Interesting. |
Just played a bit of the Kingdom of Amalur demo. Really liked it. I'm going to finish the demo later, but at this point I'll probably pick it up.
