Hehe! Nice strip.
Has anyone besides me noticed that the Orcs keep changing? I'm sure it's something we all have seen but they get more human with each movie. Ugluk and Grishnakh in TTT did look quite human compared to those Moria Orcs, I know they're different because they're Uruk Hai...but still, they're more humanoid than in the first one. a very much Q -input inputted |
I did notice that they look the same, but they've become more vocal. In FOTR, it seemed the Orcs and Uruk's were the brutal growling type. Yelling and grunting as a form of communication. Then in TTT we see them speak as if they talk all the time. Nothing that really bugged me. I mean, it would have been really annoying to read captions as the Orcs hissed a conversation.
-oddguy EDIT: It's Oscar night today...err, tonight. Make your predictions. Which categories do you think ROTK will win in and take home the Academy Award? Best Picture :)x11 Directing Writing - Screenplay - Adaptation Makeup Music - Original Score Music - Original Song Art Direction Costume Design Sound Visual Effects Film Editing |
Whoooo! ROTK won all 11 categories they were nominated in tonight! ROTK is now tied with Ben-Hur and Titanic for most won oscars! I'm so happy for PJ and his incredible team! I hope they have great time partying the night away! It was just so decent of the Academy to regocnize ROTK! I'm just so happy!
Am I going to write a single sentance in this post without the exlamation mark?! Guess not! -oddguy! :fuzcool: |
Man tonight was great for me and also great for ROTK! I was pleased everytime to hear the music playing when ROTK won! :) It was overdue for PJ and company and these films, plus for the whole Fantasy category in general. :fuzsmile:I had a feeling after it won its first awards that it would win all of them it was time.

Other film makers and studios should learn from Peter Jackson to make their own vision to that quility. The most absolute key to makeing great films and I stress is through the talent. Theres no doubt about it that the talent patrayed by the artist and designers, the actors, the music artists etc etc has to be top notch paformance. So congratulations to Peter Jackson and his crew at Weta who knows how to make a movie.

New Line just announced that the theatrical version of Return of the King will be released early...May 2004. Yay!
-oddguy:D |
I've seen RotK four times at the theater, including an IMAX viewing. RotK is my favorite out of the three followed by TTT and then FotR. I've got the extended editions of both released movies, and I can't wait for the last one. I'm so happy it won 11 oscars, but I'm still angry that TTT was only nominated 2 and FotR was only nominated for 4.

But WHY? How could you waste almost 12 hours of your life watching this movie? Watching it once was bad enough for me. Oh well, I don't get why people are into it, but that's just me. |
I don't know how you couldn't like LOTR, but you're still cool in my book...I guess. :crying:
Just kidding. ;) |
Duh-ooood! Just bought ROTK today. Didn't get to sit down and watch the whole thing, but I'll do that tomorrow. Anyway, I noticed that they didn't give us a preview of the Extended Edition as usual. Oh well, having the movie and finally being able to watch it in the comfort of mah livin' room is good enough for mwah.
-oddguy w00t! LOTR! http://69.93.88.162/forum/images/smiles/cheer.gif |
I know what you mean mann! I am going to pick it up today but the DVD and video release took me on surprise when I first found out several months ago. I thought it would be fall apparently not and a good thing too. I dunno you think they will make an extended edition of ROTK? Knowing just how long it is I can just imagine how long the extended version would be. Ah nothing like the extended trip into a fantasy world of visual eye candy!
Paramiteabe... :fuzblink: |
Is the extended version coming out in December? I hope it has the Mouth of Sauron and the watchers at the Tower of Cirith Ungol.

I'm really wanting to see the fight between Gandalf and the WitchKing. You'll notice in ROTK, when Gandalf finds his way to the chambers where Denathor is trying to burn Faramir, he has to grab a spear from a nearby guard. That's because they cut out the part where the WitchKing breaks Gandalf's staff. -oddguy |
I picked it up on tuesday at ten in the morning. I drove over to blockbuster, and I watched it straight through from start to finish. And then I watched it actually again today, along with some scenes a few times over cuz its just so awesome.

Al! My Vykker of love!
Hehe, I knew a LOTR topic would lure you back. :D Come back more often, alright? -oddguy |
Well I just rented ROTK this past weekend. All I can say is you guys have said it all. Oh and wow.
I am a huge Tolkien fan, I've been a fan of his along with C.S. Lewis (creators of the Narnia Chronicles and good friend of Tolkien) for over 20 years. I've read books that chronicled their lives together, plotted out the timelines of major events in their lives and how it affected their works. Well let's just say I'm a fan. I want to watch it again already, is that wrong of me? Actually my friends and I are going to have a marathon of all three movies. SIGH. |
I can't wait to have all the extended versions, then I can get up early and start my LOTR trilogy marathon.
Yes, C.S. Lewis is another one of my favorite authors as well. It is very cool to know that Tolkien and Lewis were firends, and they had a little club were they'd discuss their ideas with one another. C.S. Lewis even dedicated one of his books to Tolkien. I forget which one. Lemme think... -oddguy |

Well, it's good to be able to watch movies of that lengh in a comfortable setting.

:
Could the book you're thinking of be Mere Christianity? For some reason that's popping out in my mind. |
:
I have been watching ROTK a lot lately Im going to have a temporary marathon until the actual Extended Edition comes out for ROTK I'll just watch the Theatrical which is still wonderful. |
I've been so busy lately, I haven't been able to watch ROTK more that twice, which is very sad. :(
Oh, and my little sister who has spina-bifida is going in for surgery to have a bubble in her neck removed, so she took the portable DVD player with her and the entire LOTR collection. She'll have a nice little marathon in the hospital, since she'll be there at least a week. I just love that kid. :) -oddguy |
:
Haven't watched it yet! I'm sooooo excited... hope its as good on the small screen! I'm gonna do a whole 9 hour marathon one Sunday! Thoughts and prayers with your little sis OG... she sounds great... and LOTR fan is cool in my book! EDIT! Oooh! Oooh! Oddguy (looking back!) I think you're right about the CS Lewis / Tolkein connection... weren't they lecturers together? Tolkien was... he discussed his ideas for the stories he wrote for his kids with his fellow profs and dons... hense the extreme lengths he went to in developing the whole worlds, cultures and languages... it was like a department hobbie or something! |

Okay, back to LOTR. Or else! :flames: -oddguy  |

Oddguy, best of luck to your sis - and I can't think of a better way to pass time in a hospital than by watching great movies like that! Seriously you could watch them a couple of times in a row and still not be bored! :) |
