No meat grinders moving at a crazy speed, please. It made my head and eyes ache. Oddworld puzzles were always based on gamer's gumption, accuracy and attentiveness: If you understand how to do it, you will succeed. No random and lack of logic, this was very good puzzle game. But not everything so brilliant in NnT.
Same for mines. Before, I count seconds to calculate how they flash, but in this case it was not so easy and too much randomness. Life indicator and checkpoints are not necessary, but ability to save anywhere is good. Also I want more of my favorite alien psychedelic atmosphere. Let it be dark, ODD and a little creepy, like in AO and OE. Mixture of fear of powerful enemies, blood, violent death of character you protect, and beautiful epicness of another world nature. |

This video sums up quite well a lot of the changes that should be made (although he is very harsh and I don't agree with everything he says, I didn't mind the ads on the boards for one). The main things are the bloom lighting, animations, atmosphere and the sound mixing at times, especially during certain cutscenes. One other thing I would personally say is a lot of the areas from the old games didn't transfer well to the New n Tasty style camera and I would say that the best part of NnT gameplay-wise was definitely Alf's Escape. That whole section felt like it was built with the new camera mode in mind and thus it seemed to fit the new game more than a lot of the revisted areas. So yeah in Soulstorm make sure the areas are built to work with the new camera system. I imagine going through this thread it might seem like people weren't too keen on the game but I for one want to say (and I'm sure most here will agree) that NnT was still brilliant, but it's better for us to be honest about the bits we weren't too fond of so that Soulstorm will be a better game all round! |
I would also like to see the game be much darker (which they're delivering in the ARG pictures) and glitch-free.

Slaves of consumerism
I think this idea should be developed. The problem is in the captives acquescing to slavery and not challenging the exploiters.
What will come in place of the Soulstorm brewery if it is destroyed, where will the escapees go and how will they survive? Can Soulstorm be re-engineered for the benefit of its employees, environment? |
