My username comes from two different names, Job was what I named my male tabletop RPG characters, and McYossie was the most random, yet original, name for a dwarf I made when I started playing WoW.

I spent about half an hour reading through lists of words, because I wanted to create an online identity like I felt some of the guys here had. Phylum fit the bill, and won me scientific brownie points to boot. I didn't even fully understand what it meant until 3 or 4 years ago.

I've used Phylum, or "phy1um", everywhere since. I think about as many people know me as Phylum as they do Tom these days. I couldn't imagine ever going by anything else on the internet.

Upon a thorough probing of my brain with a rusty old coat-hanger I believe I joined OWF to post some self-indulgent fan fiction back in the dinosaur days of '07, all of which has likely been lost to time. I remained for the community which is like no other.

I think it's because we're no longer teenagers (or early 20-ers, as in my case). Just the other day I was looking through old chat logs with WoF and his screen name used to go on for half 10 or 20 words. Nowadays it's just his name.

Does this mean I'll eventually create a new account with a shorter name when I turn 20?

You can just get a name change like Max the Mug, old and not so tasty, Kastere and OddHunter before you.

My name was just the first thing that popped into my 13 year old head. I really remember the reasoning behind it but it seemed cool at the time. I actually quite like it now, it's strangely become a part of my self I feel. Still, it'd be nice to get it shortened since no one calls me anything but STM (or STW) any more. In fact, it's probably time to get rid of the 'woman' in STW...I don't think anyone's used a male gender pronoun to refer to me in about two or three weeks.

If I had joined any sooner than I had I think I'd just be Eoxyln on here because that's what I was using at the time getting away from the horrible username I was attached to beforehand.

But, thanks to this site and the username I picked I have the permanent alias of Slog or SB. Thanks OWF. Thanks.

My fairly chuuni username comes from a fairly chuuni point in my life where I unironically liked Symphony X's worst album to date. I somehow don't hate it (Wings and WoF are both great shorthand) but I go by the name Jaooooo literally everywhere else except the one forum I'm a G.I.R.L. on.
