Love that first one. Is that Hellboy?
Yep.
:
Childrens' books, you say.
Can't understand these childeren, eh listen to dubstep and watch creppy nude art
I can't imagine any children's book publishing company that would let those into their books, thus traumatically scarring a whole generation of kids.
That said, they're nice pictures. |
I also like Escher!

I love the palette and stroke of Sargent http://www.jssgallery.org/Paintings/...iz_1880-82.jpg http://uploads6.wikipaintings.org/im...verie-1876.jpg http://artmight.com/albums/2011-02-0...nk-O-Meara.jpg http://www.online-utility.org/image/...argent_002.jpg http://a3.img.mobypicture.com/9bb9ba...16ea5_view.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...gent_1882.jpeg http://www.artrenewal.org/artwork/18...reet-large.jpg |
Some of those look more like photos than paintings.
:
there's this hyper realism painter and if you're at any time around vienna, take a look at his paintings. he has a permanent exhibition in the leopold museum. his paintings are HUGE and it's quite unsettling to stand before them. you mostly don't even see the strokes. Although I don't really like his paintings, I am really impressed by how he manages to fake the blurred photo effects only with oil and acrylic. http://www.helnwein.com/stc/ghpicts/gh2156.jpg http://www.helnwein.com/stc/ghpicts/gh2280.jpg http://www.helnwein.com/stc/ghpicts/gh1729.jpg http://www.helnwein.com/stc/ghpicts/gh1341.jpg http://www.helnwein.com/stc/ghpicts/gh1092.jpg http://www.helnwein.com/stc/ghpicts/gh1068.jpg http://www.helnwein.com/stc/ghpicts/gh385.jpg |
The first one was pretty surreal. I like surrealism.
I'm having a hard time accepting the last one as a painting. I'm not saying it isn't. I'm just saying holy shit if it is.
I love that Mickey Mouse painting. I had it as my icon on MSN for a while back when I first saw it.
If you want hyper realism, check out Eloy Morales. http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto..._3849198_n.jpg http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...74543883_n.jpg http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...29530893_n.jpg http://sphotos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...31478839_n.jpg http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...4_861994_n.jpg Yes. These are paintings... http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto..._4614428_n.jpg |
I just.... how can they
Oh my
Right? People carelessly throw around the term "mindblowing" on the internet, but this time it actually is.
Very very impressive.
That's the kind of realism I appreciate. Especially the reddy-brown one.
Kinda looks like his face is melting. I like it.
Am I allowed to post album artwork?
Fuck it, doing it anyways. It counts. http://www.melodysupreme.org/wp-cont.../09/url-11.jpg Beautiful. http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ls...goajo1_500.jpg Apocolyptic, bleak, depressing. Minimalism at its finest. http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mc...xz0yo1_500.jpg I don't know why I love this one so much, but I do. Very... nostalgic. Not sure why. http://www.fieldrecords.co.kr/upfile/cover%28828%29.jpg Loneliness in one picture. http://www.progarchives.com/progress...1715102008.jpg I love industrial styled art, so this one really hit home. Uhh, I guess that's it for now. |
Number 2 and 5 are truly terrific, not that the others aren't good but those two stood out for me. Those hyper-realistic pictures are absolutely god damn amazing too, how could you ever tell they were paintings if you didn't see the process!?
argh fuck I accidentally closed the tab and lost all the neat pictures I've been preparing for you. I won't do it again
so here's the link to Lou Romano's blog and his colour scripts for "Up" and "The Incredibles" - his talent unfortunately wasted for disney http://louromano.blogspot.com http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_GY-vHrWkMM...8/s1600/41.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_GY-vHrWkMM...1600/CS_01.jpg this one is hilarious http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_GY-vHrWkMM...I/s1600/20.jpg some of his cooler stuff http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_GY-vHrWkMM...00/B2+MARS.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_GY-vHrWkMM...1600/MS_02.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_GY-vHrWkMM...1600/MS_03.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_GY-vHrWkMM..._INDY%2BIV.jpg http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5...00/OA_03.2.jpg I especially adore these ones - ingeniously simple http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5...1600/BK_02.jpg http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5...1600/BK_01.jpg http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5...1600/BK_03.jpg http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5...1600/BK_04.jpg |
Some of those looks like photographs of cut-out cardboard people. I can't tell if they are or not.
that's because they are cut-out cardboard people.
I like the use of coloured light to tint the details.
I love the album art for Counting Crows, though I don't really like their music.

I like how they couldn't decide on a name for the second one.
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_70JElYVm91...et-picture.jpg
The Impressionism is one of my favourites art styles. |
:
I like I Was A Rat! or The Scarlet Slippers.
I don't have anything else to add, I just really love that book. |
:
Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus is different from Final Fantasy, or The Spirits Within. |
:
I know there are better examples of modern media that do this, but I can't be arsed to think of any. |
It's not exactly modern, but isn't Dr. Strangelove or:How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb THE film example of this?
Yes. Yes, it is.
Yes, but I wasn't counting on Nep knowing what that is. Maybe I should stop assuming everyone is stupid.
Or maybe I should keep doing it. |
I think it's annoying, but presumably my opinion is too stupid to count.
Yes. Yes, it is.
Man, what a dick.
