Don't get me started on those rail track stages. My god...

Oh man, those are horrible. I mean, they're fun, and engaging, and well designed, but... god damn do they take ages to finally complete.

Though, when you finally do complete them, the feeling of gratification is awesome. Fuck you, Donkey Kong Country!

Still playing Darksiders 2. Jesus Christ but the City of the Dead dungeon was immense. I've played entire games that were shorter than that dungeon. And I don't mean flash games. I wasn't that crazy about the Earth dungeon, but it made up for it with the next two. There were a couple of good head scratcher puzzles in the final two dungeons as well, which was nice. I'm about at the end of the game now, but I'm going to go search out the things that I know I missed before completing it.

I hope you enjoy the ride, because there will not be a Darksiders 3. I enjoy it, but they could have trimmed a lot of fat from the game.

OANST 09-07-2012 09:29 AM

Why do you say there won't be a third? They said that if the game sold well they would make a third. The game sold well.

Daxter King 09-07-2012 09:32 AM

If I recall correctly they wanted it to do around 2 million, it did 247K in the US in its first month, pretty sure thats under the first Darksiders.

OANST 09-07-2012 09:35 AM

That can't be right. Darksiders 2 was the highest selling game of August, and Super Mario Bros. 2 sold that in it's first week. That number likely applies to only one platform.

Edit: Apparently that number is right.

Edit Edit: Still, though. That means that the game made about 14 Million in August alone. That and the fact that it was number one cannot go unnoticed. I think we'll have to wait and see if it continues to sell well before completely writing it off.

JennyGenesis 09-08-2012 03:23 AM

I picked up LA Noire The Complete Edition yesterday, I've been enjoying it so far even though I am only on the third case, I'm surprised how deep the game is.

My question is though, do I ever get the chance just to explore LA? Like GTA? It seems that I am constantly on a mission with my partner tagging along with me, I want the chance to explore the environment.

Dynamithix 09-08-2012 04:35 AM

Yeah, the free roam is called The Streets of LA, you unlock it when you complete a desk of cases and then you can choose it in the main menu.

Crashpunk 09-09-2012 02:12 AM

So after my horrible start at Metal Gear Solid 3, I played literally a whole day more of it and my god, it's great. I love the survival aspect of the game when you have to hunt for food to regain stamina and the camouflage really is helpful. The guns are brilliant like expected. I try to be all hidden by using the tranquillizer gun but most of the time I feel confident just to run around with a shotgun killing everything in my path.

I had a huge amount of problems beating The Fear because it's so difficult to actually locate him. Because of that, it's one of the hardest boss fights I've ever come across. The Pain was pretty easy, I found that whole cave section really cool and how you have to use the cigar to light up the way.

Right now I'm currently at The End boss fight (The Sniper one). What is it with piss taking boss fights in this game? Seriously, anyone know a affective way to beat him?

You can cheat defeat him by putting the clock forward by one week.

Of course that's lame, and the only proper way to beat him is by draining his stamina so you get that tasty tranq rifle.

Varrok 09-09-2012 08:58 AM

The first time I played MGS3 I killed The End in a method described by WoF. I felt like such a dick afterwards

Strike Witch 09-09-2012 04:43 PM

Or you can just shoot the tank on his wheelchair the first time you see him.

Wings of Fire 09-09-2012 05:18 PM

It's a little late for that if he's in the fight with him, sweetheart.

But seriously. Tranq his ass off.

Also, if you ever decide to replay it, the Fear strategy is to stockpile a lot of soiled food and make a little mound of them, then wait for him to come down and eat one and tranq the shit out of him when he vomits.

Varrok 09-09-2012 11:10 PM

Are there more games with that level of details like in the MGS series?

Phylum 09-09-2012 11:28 PM

I love that about MGS. I've never played MGS3 and you guys talking about this stuff sounds awesome. I need to buy the MGS collection soon. Before I buy it I want a TV in my computer room so that I can move my PS3 in there. That would mean that I could play without my dad whining at me.

Varrok 09-10-2012 01:38 AM

And it's not only MGS3, every single game in the main series is that polished with so many secret things

Nepsotic 09-10-2012 08:59 AM

The worst thing about MGS2, is when you're underwater with that stupid bitch clinging to your back and you're both on a limited air supply. Escort missions suck.

AlexFili 09-10-2012 09:29 AM

Sid Meier's Alpha Centuri. Like Civilisation but in space. It's addictive and fun. Diplomacy rules.

Stupid limited air while being underwater! Who the hell invented that

Nepsotic 09-10-2012 10:20 AM

Escort missions do suck, though.

OANST 09-10-2012 10:32 AM

Agreed. Except Ico which was really just one huge escort mission, and still managed to be one of the best video games I have ever played.

Nepsotic 09-10-2012 10:50 AM

Well, Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games I've played, but the escort sections are what take it down slightly.

I actually liked that part. It was much different from the usual escort missions. It actually felt like more of a survival mission.

Varrok 09-10-2012 12:27 PM

I felt much better after I rescued E.E. in that part. It was a feeling like I had accomplished something

Wings of Fire 09-10-2012 01:36 PM

The worst part of MGS2 was whenever Fortune was talking.

God, did I ever want to slap that dumb cunt.

Varrok 09-10-2012 01:43 PM

She was pretty poor, I agree

OANST 09-12-2012 12:51 PM

I feel the need to recommend Darksiders II to everyone. I finished it, and am now working my way through New Game+, which surprisingly adds quite a few new things to the game. Anyway, the dungeons are fantastic. There are lots of optional missions, lots of things to collect, and tons of stats to obsess over if you like that sort of thing. Buy it so I can play a Darksiders III, you cheap bastards.

Takeshi 09-12-2012 01:06 PM

Playing a small game on my iPod called Crime City

Mac Sirloin 09-13-2012 06:15 AM

I'm playing Destroy all Humans 2 and BLACK for the PS2. DAH2 is really outstandingly okay. The writing is dumb (though not always) and it seems like I was collecting a lot more brains in the first game from the get-go, but it's still fun in a silly way. A lot of the 60's-derived humour (levitate someone with psychokinesis, they say something like "WOW I'VE NEVER BEEN THIS HIGH BEFORE") gets stale, but there are still little funny parts that shine through to me. "I loved you in The King and I!" There's something for everyone.

Now, BLACK. Probably the most well-designed 6th gen game I played. If not, it's a close race between it and MGS3. It looks GORGEOUS for a PS2 game, has incredible sound design, and is ball-crushingly hard at some points. Also, if I'm not mistaken the plot for CODBLOPS was definitely lifted almost entirely from BLACK, apart from the Russian mind control. It's one of those games everyone should play just because a very, very good job was done in creating it.

Dynamithix 09-13-2012 07:16 AM

Both of those games are pretty good, especially Destroy All Humans!, the first and the second one. Sadly, from what I've heard, the third one is absolute shit and I don't want to play it because I know I'll be deeply disappointed.

OANST 09-13-2012 07:22 AM

I always wanted to play Destroy All Humans, but never got around to it.

Wings of Fire 09-13-2012 07:22 AM

BLACK was extremely good but sadly forgettable.

Crashpunk 09-13-2012 08:56 AM

Destroy All Humans was fun for about 5 minutes, Then I got really bored with it. I am referring to the first one however.

Dynamithix 09-13-2012 09:33 AM

You gave up in the first mission? Eh... You didn't even get to experience the game.

Mr. Bungle 09-13-2012 09:36 AM

The first Destroy All Humans was so fun. I played that game over and over. You gotta get past the first mission for the fun to begin, as Dyna said. Really. That game gets nuts.

Also, I've been playing League of Legends a fair bit lately. It's good fun. I mostly play Cho'gath and Tristana right now, but I'm trying to expand a bit. Anyways, I'm only level 10, so I'm fairly noobish, but if anyone here plays at all and wants to add me , my user is Okagon.

Well to be fair I only played it for a little bit, I just found it a bit boring. Maybe i'll pick it back up seeing how I've missed the good bits.

OANST 09-13-2012 10:23 AM

None of the parts I didn't play are good!

God, I hate you SO MUCH!

Crashpunk 09-13-2012 01:21 PM

wow. :(

Well there goes my smile...

I remember the advert for it on T.V looked good, you play it, and its bad.

Crashpunk 09-13-2012 01:35 PM

Again, I played it for about 5 minutes and I got bored with it. I didn't even get into to it so I can't really judge it.

OANST 09-13-2012 01:36 PM

YOU PIECE OF SHIT!
