I have played both Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon. Loved Odyssey, Dragon...alright. Though I love Toriyama's art. I have played all the numerical FF's, barring III, as I have yet to play the remade ds version. And the only two I HATE are V and XII. exdeath and that mother fucking license board can bite me. I expected so much from XII...tactics and Vagrant Story are amazing. And FF chars have been repackaging themselves loooooong before XIII. Though I agree, it is still shite compared to IV and such. But I enjoyed the fantasy, and await XIII-2 eagerly. nonlinearity returns! And monster catching sounds fun, like SMT. Also, as a sidenote, Kaim Argonar made me cry. That is a feat.

Wings of Fire 10-21-2011 07:58 PM

I hated Final Fantasy X. Just saying.

StrangerEastwood 10-21-2011 08:02 PM

Im not surprised, lol. Poor thing gets bashed by everyone.

Wings of Fire 10-21-2011 08:05 PM

The battle system was just about as good as Final Fantasy games got and I really loved the sphere grid system.

But the plot man, the plot.

Character-wise Yuna was awesome, Auron was awesome in a kind of not really trying way, Lulu and Wakka were a little interesting, the lion thing was cool.

And then Tidus.

Tidus is the worst Final Fantasy character ever. He's worse than Vaan for heaven's sake, if only because Vaan has much less impact on the plot.

Also Seymour. Just Seymour.

Dixanadu 10-21-2011 08:06 PM

I loved Lost Odyssey. Gongora was my favourite character though, I always had a thing for antagonists. Hironobu did a good job, I wished the game had more recognition. It beat the shit out of XII and XIII combined.

Indulge? :( What did you not like?

StrangerEastwood 10-21-2011 08:34 PM

Agreed, I especially loved the dreams- heart breakingly beautiful. And am I the only one who loved Tidus? Dx

Wings of Fire 10-21-2011 08:41 PM

A lot of people loved Tidus, I'm sure. He was essentially the most blatant self insert character ever.

StrangerEastwood 10-21-2011 08:47 PM

Plus I love James Arnold Tayler...Tidus and Ratchet? mmmhmm. Though I wish Michael Erwin did more besides Jak. My friend always refers to Tidus as "THAT MEG RYAN MOTHER FUCKER" lol...poor nonexistant memory guy. lol

Wings of Fire 10-21-2011 08:52 PM

Oh and here's another contraversial opinion whilst we're at it.

I absolutely loved X-2.

Dixanadu 10-21-2011 08:57 PM

X-2 confused me.

Then again, I was 15 when I played it.

StrangerEastwood 10-21-2011 08:59 PM

I loved it as well, minus the true ending...Way to ruin X's beautiful ending...

Wings of Fire 10-21-2011 09:01 PM

The plot only made since if you did the two extra dungeons.

As a Final Fantasy game it was shit, but it was much much more fun than X and didn't take itself seriously at all.

The only real criticism I have with it is that it basically murdered Yuna's personality.

Dixanadu 10-21-2011 09:03 PM

Guns and a mini skirt.

Really, Yuna?

StrangerEastwood 10-21-2011 09:04 PM

It was nice to see her become more outgoing. She's still my second favorite female main character, next to Jade from Beyond Good and Evil.
btw, that aladdin recolor vaan can go die in the sewer with Cait Sith and Selphie. God I hate them...Oh yes Selphie, by all means, BASH ON THE CONSOLE THAT FIRES WARHEADS. THAT"LL FUCKING WORK.*insert screams of rage here*

Ridg3 10-22-2011 07:29 AM

My favorite character out of X was Rikku. She was just adorable and shit. Kimahri was also a fucking bad-ass character because of the whole mute business, more respect for him once he started talking. Wakka was good for two things; Comic relief and the occasional emo shit.

Seymour, I agree, was possibly the worst boss in the world and the final fight in X was complete horseshit with absolutely no challenge in it whatsoever. However, I loved the game as a whole and would easily rank it amongst my top 5 FF games.

Started playing IV and fuck me pink, it's hard. But fun. Console of choice? My phone. For a fiver.

StrangerEastwood 10-22-2011 07:38 AM

FFX still has the most well put together and strategically sound battle system in the series. And I loved all the characters. Rikku is the only "ditzy girl" type that I've liked, especially with how protective she is of Yuna. No Yuffie or Selphie in this one...ugh. Those two.

Jordan 10-22-2011 08:07 AM

I actually don't really like Tidus all that much if I'm honest. I like him during the story-telling sections, but otherwise he's a bit grating.

I'm tired of Square Enix using such automatic battle systems, I don't want party members to control themselves, I want full control over all of them at all times. When I can control them I seem to be able to like the character more because they aren't controlled by the computer.

StrangerEastwood 10-22-2011 08:26 AM

I guess I dont mind because I accepted long ago that FF will never fit my expectations for an FF entry, as since it's inception FF has evolved (or devolved, as the case may be...is that a word? I'm not sure...) and changed with every entry. Hardest game series to be a fan of, ever. lol It's like a bunch of fanbases that have to live with eachother in some fucked up reality show. >_<

Jordan 11-22-2011 04:23 AM

Take a look at this everyone: http://www.computerandvideogames.com...ery-1-2-years/

This made me so angry. It just proves what absolute dicks Square Enix are. They don't even fucking realise they're targeting a completely different segment of the market to that of COD and Assassin's Creed. Final Fantasy fans expect more detail and time to be put into the games, whereas COD fanboys get bored and whiney when they don't get anything new almost immediately. I shouldn't even be this mad, it's not like I've found any of the new Final Fantasy games enjoyable, it all went to shit after FFX in my opinion. I just can't believe how stupid they're being. Hope to God they mess this up.

Wings of Fire 11-22-2011 04:50 AM

To be fair, a new Final Fantasy game was being made every year or so during the 'golden' years between III and X, with only once a two year break in between VI and VII which was more due to executive concerns than anything else.

When the series started to get sketchy, the output actually dropped.

That's true, someone did post a list of all FF games and their release dates on the comments section. I think what annoys me the most is they're actually trying to follow the trend of other games, which have a totally different fanbase. With it in their objectives to complete the production of the game in a short amount of time, I'm worried quality could be sacrificed to finish it.

Wings of Fire 11-22-2011 05:01 AM

Yeah, that's a legitimate concern.

Well, the Tales of series has been discontinued and the whole Japanese games market has been in the shitter for a few years now. We'll see how it goes.

Dixanadu 11-23-2011 03:32 AM

Call of Duty model "seems to be the best way to keep our fans interested"

Are they fucking kidding?

Wings of Fire 11-23-2011 03:47 AM

Like I said, the Japanese market has been in the shitter for years. Companies have to adapt or die.

If you want to blame anyone, blame Activision for setting quantity over quality standards and the western gaming market for lapping it up and wagging their tails for more.

Jordan 11-23-2011 04:59 AM

Sometimes I wonder why I want to even enter the gaming industry, because it infuriates me to no end.
