STM 06-19-2011 05:20 PM

It's all bad, I need to wash my hands...fuck.

T-nex 06-19-2011 05:28 PM

STM i guessed your phobia before you even wrote about it... It probably IS the worst phobia i can think of... or anything similar, as it's an every day item.

I really don't understand phobias though... like does anything cross your mind when you see one? Do you think they are evil and will take over your brain?

Also Dixy, that's extremely rude. A phobia is probably one of the few things I find a 'sacred' sanctum. You shouldn't fuck with people like that. Phobias are a mental issue, and making fun of people with such problems is a real dick-move.

Dixanadu 06-19-2011 05:34 PM

He didn't need to be a drama queen about it.

It's only a picture, geez.

He just said he wears them, I somehow figure that's worse than a picture.

I wouldn't go apeshit if someone posted a picture of deep water I couldn't see the bottom of.

BECAUSE IT'S A PICTURE.

Chill.

not the same. i've only done a quick search on Koumpounophobia and i read that some sufferers are so bad they can't even say, write or read the 'b' word without at least feeling uncomfortable. you don't like very deep water, but i would assume that's more to do with the feeling, the sensation. you know you're in deep water, you can't see the bottom, it scares the shit out of you. a picture? no problem. but that's a totally different kettle of fish ('SCUSE THE PUN).

now i don't need to white knight for another six months.

Dixanadu 06-19-2011 06:28 PM

I doubt the severity of STM's condition goes that far, though.

Gwan-Thwei 06-19-2011 06:41 PM

Speaking of Phobias (and also bugs), I am afraid of dead spiders. No idea why. The twitching disembodied legs might have something to do with it.

I've always had a facination with Mantids. They're like aliens or something. The way their eyes seem to move on their own, how deadly they are, and those odd pincer things...Man. I've seen videos of mantids catching and killing birds, mice, and snakes. The snake was the coolest one though. He grabbed it, and it started wrapping around him, so the mantis started eating it alive. Sooner or later he ended up chewing theough it's spine, but the whole ordeal was amazing.

Yeah but you need to remember that a phobia is the extreme irrational fear of something. It may seem strange and hard to believe, but he has it and you don't.

CrissCross 06-19-2011 09:19 PM

I remember when i used to hold giant spiders in my hand...

Now i cant hold jumping spiders -__-

enchilado 06-19-2011 09:25 PM

They just seemed giant because you were so small.

I have kompounophobia I don't like to write the word of what it is I have a phobia of but if you type that in you'll get it. I can't breath when I say it it's that bad. =(

what part of this says "it's not that bad though"

moxco 06-20-2011 04:33 AM

STM, as a christian have you also got Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia? It's a stupid question I know, but how could I resist posting such a big word?

STM 06-20-2011 05:36 AM

Yes, it absolutely terrifies me, if the volume of something on the TV or my speakers are on 666...I have to turn them down one! That's how bad it is. ;)

Also maybe we need a mod split here?

@Dixy - I think you just need to realise that different phobia's are of different things are all. It's not very nice to tell what a phobia is after explaining you don't want to because people don't understand and then two posts down realise some dick head as gone and been stupid, doing exactly the sort of thing that makes people not want to tell other people their phobias. >=( We'll talk about this next time I'm in your dungeon.

MeechMunchie 06-20-2011 05:59 AM

Here's something you and Dixanadu can share: A fear of drowning in a sea of buttons.

enchilado 06-20-2011 06:55 AM

I have a fear of drowning in a sea of 666 spiders with buttons for eyes.

MA 06-20-2011 09:35 AM

stop it im hyperventilating

STM 06-20-2011 12:45 PM

I'm spazzing out guys! I'm spazzing out!

I'm so fat! =*(

ON THE TOPIC OF BUGS,
Goddamit it sent out the message with that first line. Anyways, I hate any blood sucking bugs, like mosquitoes, bedbugs, and ticks. Ticks freak me the hell out, man.

I also heard from somewhere that there was this type of bloodsucking moth in Africa or South America. That doesn't bother me. Moths are cute. They're all fuzzy!

Afterthought, didn't someone post a picture of a tear-drinking moth too? In another thread maybe? That was sort of odd. Imagine waking up to that.

Wasn't this discussion split off from the pet discussion? Any thread about phobias is doomed to be derailed.

Oh yeah... because Scrabtrapman went on about his bees, right? I don't think I'd like to keep bees. I suppose I wouldn't mind getting another rat at some point, but it's just so damn sad when they die. I can't imagine what it's like when a dog you've owned for ten or fifteen years dies.

Axolotls can live for twenty-five years, but they're hardly interactive pets so I'm not sure how attached to them you can get. They get pretty attached to you, though, if you put your finger in front of their mouth.

moxco 06-21-2011 12:25 AM

Stop being ironic. Go talk about pets in the pet thread.

Rats get terrible tumours all the time, it's not worth getting them just see them go through that.

Creepy.
I was reading about ants, and I found these ones called Turtle Ants. The soldiers have big flat heads that they use to block the entrances into the nest. I thought they were cool.

They would get the tumours whoever kept them, and none of the three I've had ever got any.

STM 06-21-2011 07:26 AM

Oh fair enough, I thought you were deciding to get your first one. Unfortunately of the three rats I had only one lived out a happy healthy life.
