2 and a half hours of intense video editing later I'm pleased to bring you all some vids of this evening's SMP fun.

Max and Dripik both found a naturally-occurring mushroom field containing 186 mushrooms:


We celebrated Oddhunter's birthday in the nether (note that even though I've compressed the entire thing into 7 minutes, it may not be interesting for some people unless you were there, go here to see the ending in a separate video of us all being attacked by a ghast!):


And we found this hilarious glitch where Crashpunk became horizontal:


I think this evening was the most fun I've had in a game in a long, long time, and I'm happy to have recorded some of the best parts of it. :) Thankyou so much to all who were involved!

That was somewhat enjoyabe. I tried to kill the Ghast by bringing him close with a fishing rod, but some glitch destroyed it even though it was never used.

I think Splat had a similar problem yesterday as well. I have no idea what causes that, it doesn't seem to be a general problem.

I didn't think that the idea of the Nether party would catch on, but I was wrong. The ghast adventure topped it proper. No wait, crashpunk's glitch was the icing on the cake. /shamelesspun

Together with Dripik we've decided to try making the server dedicated for a while. This means less lag and it will be up 24/7 for the next 30 days. Depending on how it goes we'll see about extending it.


The old server will no longer be available. The new server has a 1 on 1 copy of the old one, so none of your creations are lost. I'm walking around in it right now and all is well.

e: to explain, I disconnected because I was unable to pick up dropped items. I haven't been able to reconnect since.

I got disconnected trying to travel to the Nether, and can't log back on. I managed to travel to the Nether the first time from the base portal, but the second time trying from my personal portal, I got disconnected and can't get back on. The error every time is

1.6.6 happened, so the server might need to be updated, if Havoc haven't done it already. Max will be happy about the glowstone update.

It's gonna have to wait until the server software called Bukkit is updated to accomodate 1.6.6, since that apparently serves a framework for additional features we're not even using yet -_-. I'm keeping a close eye on the update thread and will update the server as soon as I humanly can. Till then, don't update your client.

After watching the videos and listening to you guys talk, I have a serious itch to get on and play. But I'm not going to. I have a hard time sitting in front of my computer for a length of time greater than 15 minutes, and that's obviously not going to work out with MC. Plus I did the cheap thing and used my spare MS points to download FC for my 360. A cheap, half-assed clone that doesn't even really scratch the surface, but entertains me enough.

Keep posting videos, though. I like seeing what you guys have been getting up to.

Yeah, it's called FortressCraft. An indie game that's a blatant rip-off, but only 240 points and you get the benefit of playing on your couch, on a gigantic hd tv, if you have one. Which I do, so that makes it nice. They have a lot of plans for the game, and the next patch sounds like it's going to make it a lot better, so we'll see. It's still pretty young as far as development goes.

Well it's not like MC was the most original game of all time either. Everyone involved in some sort of creative process borrows or steals from someone else. It's just a fact of life. The only downside to the whole thing is that the MC fanboys are now buying FC just to come into the worlds and destroy them. It's pretty pathetic.
