The Plutonia Experiment and TNT: Evilution are levels combined to make Final Doom, which is basically an addon for Doom II since there's only a few new textures added. GZDoom, Skulltag and Doomsday are source ports which all play Doom differently. GZDoom is a full 3D renderer which enables you to look in all directions without the screen being distorted and it also enables billboarding. It uses OpenGL features for this, much like SW and MO on steam (I think). Skulltag is basically the same thing, only it allows you to play online using a matchmaking program called Doomseeker. It doesn't allow HD gameplay or controller support (much) though... Doomsday is the whole thing updated. HD textures, 3D models, 3D rendering, OpenGL, shaders, and any resolution you want. With all this, it's extremely laggy on standard PCs and laptops. You can turn some features off though. Hope you understand now! :p |
Ok, thanks for explaining.

Let's talk about Brink. When I first heard of it I thought it was going to be good, I mean, it was made by Bethesda right. Wrong, the game was horrible and confusing as hell. I would be running for five minutes without a baldies notion on what the current objective is because I must have changed it about six times in the heat of battle by accident.
Also, can these fuckers ever die? Every time I'm struck down I could possibly bleed out for hours on end until someone throws me a syringe filled with make feel good. God, this game has so much potential but because it wasn't very linear it felt like a hash job in trying to give us choices but instead giving us a headache. |
It seems you hate Brink for illegitimate reasons, as opposed to legitimate ones.
|
What would the legitimate reasons be? The opening cut-scenes make no relevance to the game at all and are incredibly boring to watch? How the AI is so fucking stupid and fails to at least try and work together leaving me fighting off an entire wave of enemies by myself because the AI are too focused on lesser tasks?
The game is broken like hell. The freerunning system was a nice feature but the only people that can take advantage of this properly is the light body types which are fucking useless in firefight situations. Actually check that, everything in the game is fucking broken. |
Yesterday I bought Worms: Reloaded while it was on sale on Steam (as much as I love Worms, £8.99 is about as much as I'd like to pay for a 2D worms remake). It's as much fun as Worms Armegeddon was back in the day... Though why do the worms themselves look so crap compared to their older versions?
I already made a custom soundbank for it based on Portal 2's defective turrets, so it can't all be too bad. Again, OWF refuses to embed this for some stupid reason: http://youtu.be/0BOzrWBAbR8 |
Started playing Lost Odyssey again. Fucking beautiful. I forgot why I stopped playing it the first time round.

I'm worried now because I bought Brink but haven't played it yet. |
Holy shit, I got my copy of L.A. Noire today and that game is amazing.
The interrogations are really well made and the faces of the characters look so realistic. The chase missions are fun and I like the ranking system. Could be GoTY 2011 if you ask me, but let's see what the end of this year brings us. (Skyrim, Arkham City, BF3.) |
:
I have, and Armageddon, and 3D. WWP and Armageddon are superior to Reloaded, but I played them to death back in the day when they were new. As much as Reloaded doesn't bring anything new, it isn't a bad game and it is still fun. @Dynamithix - I've been keeping an eye on L.A. Noire and watched the first 5 missions on YouTube - That game really does look amazing with a fuckton of detail and a massive, massive map, while also introducing game mechanics that haven't been done before (reading character's facial expressions and judging them accordingly based on their behaviour). I like what I see. However, body movements are stiff in comparison to the natural-looking ones of the faces, since the motion capture quality for body movements isn't as high as that used for the faces. It's like a realistic face on a robot or so. Looks amazing, but somehow odd and I can't help feeling a touch of uncanny valley. Seems we still have a little way to go before we start seeing truly realistic characters, but we're getting there. |
I rented Brink. Dislike. It's a shame, because I immediately fell in love with the customization and vaulting/free running elements of the game, buggy as they are. It's just the shit objectives that you have to complete over and over before they register as actually being completed that make me hate it with a passion.

SOMEONE TAKE OUT THE GUARD
THE GUARD IS UP AGAIN SOMEONE TAKE OUT THE GUARD SOMEONE TAKE OUT THE GUARD THE GUARD IS UP AGAIN *ejects disc* |
Yahtzee reviewed Brink this week:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/vide...ion/3286-Brink Considering how bad you two say it is, I find it strange that he wasn't more harsh with it. Then again I haven't played it/probably won't ever play it, so I can't judge for myself. |
My friend has been hyping Brink since it was announced, and he seems to love it. Then again, he's biased as fuck. He'll praise it 'til the day he dies.
|
I was looking forward to Brink. Now if I buy it it won't be until there's a considerable price-drop.
|
:
|
I see those complaints all the time and I think they could and probably will be fixed quite easily.
It really needs a proper SP campaign though. |
:
|
Well, it isn't made by Bethesda, it was made by Splash Damage, and published by Bethesda's parent company. SD had made the enemy territory games, which I really liked, but Brink is pretty awful. I need to get around to selling it.
|
It has Bethesda's name on it. I blame Bethesda.
|
Finally got Portal 2. MAGNIFICENT!
|
I've been enjoying L.A. Noire a lot lately and I'm in the homicide cases now. I really like the interrogation system, makes me feel like a detective, hah. :p
I don't like it when the game gives you a new partner once you've completed a series of cases though. |
Friend got me back into Reach, been playing a mic of customs and matchmaking, really fun.
Tried to play Brink again after a friend said that they got rid of the lag. While most of it is gone, there is still a noticeable delay between my input and the game. There is also a lack of actual players, mot games are just bots, not to mention the broken class system. Selling it tomorrow, surprised that I should be able to get $25 for it. Also, looking for a good RPG on 360. Any suggestions? |
Just started playing Prince of Persia, the one from 2008. It's... eugh, well, my opinion of it is made worse by the fact that any setting I have it on, the frame rate it atrocious. I bought it as part of the deal on Steam where you got five PoP games; I might skip to Sands of Time.
|
Think I might start playing Chrono Trigger again. That game rules.

I finished L.A. Noire today. Took me a good 24hrs to beat it, including cruising through the city and completing some street crimes too. I'll keep this text as spoiler-free as much as I can.
It's definitely a very good game and the cases are quite interesting. Until the Arson desk. The first desk is pretty much a basic tutorial, teaching you the interrogation stuff, finding clues and such. The second one, Traffic desk, is quite fun but nothing too special. The third desk, Homicide, is (in my opinion) the best one. The cases in homicide are a bit repetitive but keeps you interested and the final homicide case, The Quarter Moon Murders, is perhaps the best case in the game. Was really fun to solve. The Vice desk is good too but not as good as homicide (again, in my opinion). And your vice partner is such a douche. The Arson desk is pretty bad to be honest, the cases are really similar and not that interesting. Your partner's okay though. Anyways, then the ending... WARNING: HUGE SPOILERS AHEAD, DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED L.A. NOIRE! The final case pretty much ends up with Cole sacrificing himself to the floods to save Kelso and Elsa from the sewers. Pretty weird that they decided to just kill Cole with something so dumb, did they run out of ideas or something? A pretty bad ending to be honest. Overall, a great game and I recommend it to everyone who wants a good singleplayer experience. However, don't buy this game expecting a 1940's GTA, you'll be disappointed if that's what you expect from it. I'd give it a 8,5/10 |

Oh, if you've got a few points laying around, check out Avatar Adventurers Online. It's an indie game that tries to be an MMORPG using the dashboard avatars, but each server only hosts like 16 players at a time, so you don't run into people very often. Still, it's a pretty fun old school-ish rpg. Reminds me of early final fantasy. If you get it, let me know. Me and Elvis play a lot.
|
I just finished Portal 2. MY NEW FAVOURITE GAME!
|
:
Can't wait for the Summer DLC |
I've been playing some old PS1 games because I finally found a PS1 memory card (Yes!) at a local store that sells used games, albums, movies and such.
I also found Hogs of War in that particular store when I bought the memory card so I tried it out. Seems quite fun but I'll save it for later. Anyways, so I've been playing Abe's Oddysee, Spiderman 1 and Crash Bandicoot 2: Wrath of Cortex. Nostalgic! |
:
|
It's gonna be free, they already confirmed it. :p
|
I'm marrying Valve. It's official :tard:
|
So... I'm a little late but when Mass Effect first came out I didn't want to spend money on 'another' shooter. Had no idea it wasn't a shooter at all. Just got it off Steam and enjoying it so far, pretty deep game. Kind of a mix between Halo and Fallout.
|
I borrowed Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood from my friend and so far it's quite interesting.
(I'm only up to the 3rd memory thing.) |

|
Yeah, the ending wasn't exactly the greatest but in my opinion, RDR's ending was good. Not in a "good good" way but it was a good way to end the game.
