Regardless of whether or not Mudokons were actually living in Necrum, thats where they were all coming together at the end of AE. Who knows how long they waited around before migrating.

Aslong as they don't alter any of the story at all, I'm perfectly happy with a HD remake. Going to be interesting to see how it will work out regarding screen movement and such over the course of time.

I understand your point about the story not changing. But change can be good as it can be bad. I doubt they will change the story since it was a classic. But I think little tweeks added to the story would be cool and would get the already played through gamers of the game to give them a reason to give it a new re-play added value. Would you like to see new friends or enemies/foes of abe? I know I would.

Crashpunk 02-12-2011 02:17 AM

The only thing I could settle for is new content to the story. New cutscenes wouldn't kill anyone.

Dipstikk 02-22-2011 08:20 AM

I'd like them to take the opportunity to expand on the story by re-doing some of the FMVs. Lorne's hinted that there was more to Molluck and Abe over the years, and we never got that from their mumbling and voiceless in-game incarnations.

Yes because everyone wants a Sex Scene in Abe's Oddysee :fuzemb:

Bullet Magnet 02-22-2011 12:33 PM

They can paste together a storyboard using drawings from the internet. That'll save time, right?

MeechMunchie 02-23-2011 05:25 AM

I hope they put Paramites back into the Stockyards. Then everyone can shut up.

Bullet Magnet 02-23-2011 07:18 AM

We need that drama. Hopefully they'll show some sligs running a scrab/paramite pit fight in the background of the stockyards. PETA likes games with animal pit fighting, right?

alluz 02-24-2011 07:05 AM

Achievements of course heres a few

True savior: Save all 99 mudokons
True killer: Kill all mudokons in the game (those that are possible to kill)
Who cares about ammo: Shoot total 10,000 bullets in the game as a slig
Bulletproof: Don't get killed by sligs at all
Shrykull madness: Gain shrykull power 5 times.
Messy messy littel slogs: Kill 150 slogs.

And yes im new in this forum so hi

STM 02-24-2011 07:25 AM

Y'know, to field a previous point, I reckon actually AO and AE took place pretty soon after each other, sufficient and undeniable evidence suggests this I mean c'mon, he sees the Weirdos as soon as he falls from the Monsaic Sanctum and goes to Necrum pretty much as soon as he sees them.

And I aggre with Dipstikk, we need to see what is behind Abe's latent chanting ability and Molluck's empire.

Sekto Springs 02-24-2011 07:59 AM

Molluck's character was never fleshed out as much as I would like.
As Dipstikk stated, his personality in the first game is muddied by our inability to understand him, and plans to bring him back for MO were scrapped. I want to see a Molluck with more depth (as deep as Glukkons can get anyway).

DarkHoodness 02-24-2011 09:12 AM

Now that's a point. Between AO and AE the style of the FMVs completely changed - The fact that the characters didn't really speak properly gave a sense of mystery. For the industrial characters, it added to the dark atmosphere of the game, since it made Molluck seem more threatening because you only saw hints of his personality. I wonder how that'll transfer across if AO is redone. Will they make him dark and threatening in a different way if they give him an actual speaking role?

Xavier 02-24-2011 10:30 AM

I wonder how much of the actual FMVs will actually be redone? I mean it's going to be a hell of a budget to do better then the movies we have now, no?

I'm afraid this is considered as spam THE ALMIGHTY RAISEN, and spam isn't allowed on this forum. Don't spam again or you'll get an infraction.

Sorry about that Xavier. I was thinking that as soon as i posted it but then it was too late. It wont happen again;)

I liked that feature, like before the gas level it sounds like says "the cocky little bastard"

MeechCrunchies 02-24-2011 01:34 PM

No, it sounds like he said incompetent, like he's irritated at the sligs for allowing abe to get this far. He looked really pissed at the end :/

Actually, when I first stopped to listen to what he says, I was actually able to understand every word.

BlackVenom 02-25-2011 01:08 AM

I want to see a fully supported level editor for it! :O

Mou5e 02-25-2011 10:49 PM

Level editor is a must.

Mr. Bungle 02-28-2011 03:06 PM

Level editor would be fun, yeah.

Shrykull15 03-05-2011 05:12 AM

If they were to implement 3D into this remake, alot of cool ideas could be conjured. Whenever a slig is destroyed, his body parts could pop out of the screen in 3D; or when abe is in the stockyards, the detection lasers could also be in 3D. If they enable 3D, it would be awesome, but I somehow doubt they will.

GlukkonGluk 03-05-2011 02:21 PM

Good god, is it not enough that they're coming back, let alone wanting them in 3D?! You're insatiable ;)

Well ground breaking FMV like the originals from AO aren't going to happen, that's for sure.

However I like the way Valve solved that with the Source engine and it's film maker. All the movie clips for Left 4 Dead and TF2 are done inside the engine with special settings enabled to create more detail on environment and characters. Basically they made models that were detailed enough for a FMV and then toned those same models down for actual use in-game.

A similar concept could be used in this case and if they do it right it wouldn't have to cost a whole lot.

Hazel-Rah 03-06-2011 12:50 AM

I won't buy this game unless there is new content in it. I don't want any of the new cutscenes to have slapstick humor or one-liners though, I miss the dark atmosphere of AO and wouldn't want to see it ruined and would also like to see that atmosphere in the NEW Oddworld games.

Havoc 03-06-2011 05:50 AM

I hope MO taught Lorne enough to not keep going in that direction. He should be smarter than that.

Dynamithix 03-06-2011 09:54 AM

I thought Exoddus was very good, but it wasn't as dark or atmospheric (Is that even a word?) as Oddysee was.

I thought it was a sorta bad thing.

I totally agree. It's one of the major reasons why I prefer Oddysee. Mechanically, Exoddus is a superior game, but the overall atmosphere and feel of Oddysee is unlike anything I've ever experienced. And yes, atmospheric is a word. A very good one at that. :)

I know, it does seem a bit needy, but it's just a suggestion. Don't get me wrong, I'm over the moon about this release regardless, but I have high expectations. It's important to me that they throw all their weight behind this remake. And why not? Strangers Wrath is recieving Move support, so it's not unusual to see these new upgrades. Abe's Oddysee deserves 3D as much as any other PS3 game out there.

Havoc 03-06-2011 02:25 PM

I actually like the way of storytelling in AE above AO. AO had relatively little story to go with it compared to AE, mostly because the side of the Glukkons in AO is completely neglected. I would love to see in the form of FMV's how Mullock reacts to Abe escaping much like the press releases in AE. It gives more story depth and character development IMO.

Shrykull15 03-06-2011 04:37 PM

Apparently, the recent word on OWI's Facebook page suggests that 3D support is confirmed for Abe HD. So there you have it folks. ;)

Hazel-Rah 03-06-2011 04:53 PM

Also please retain the original difficulty factor, that was one of the best things about the game. I hated how easy they made Earthworm Jim HD, video games today hold your hand no matter what it seems >_>

I think they meant 3D as in 3DTV using, not actually 3D game. But I could be mistaken...

Yep, that's exactly what I meant. Apologies for the misleading post. It will have 3D TV support, which I think is exciting. Even though I don't currently own a 3D TV, I'm sure that when this game comes out, it will encourage me to finally purchase one. It's great to see these Oddworld games getting this deluxe treatment.

Can you give a link to this statement?

As you can see, the questioner doesn’t exactly specify 3D TV.

Well, in that case I could be wrong; but it's what Darren initially intented to ask about. Perhaps they didn't understand what he meant by "3D software".

Havoc 03-09-2011 10:08 AM

I think he meant the game engine and that has been confirmed to be a full 3D engine used for a 2D platformer game. I see no reason why a platformer would benefit from using 3D tech for TV's and such. The only thing that could be interesting is seeing the FMV's in 3D, but then I would rather see them spent that extra money on upping the details of those FMV's.
