Well, I already had these levels planned out on paper before I actually made them, so they weren't too difficult to make. :)

Fair do's, the thing that bothers me is that if I want to make a background, I have to copy and paste the same thing along which lakes it look amateurish, I am going to try and make a generic wall with no shadows that looks reasonable. Metallic I think.

Haven't you used my background packs that I sent you via PM? :)

Err, yes but some don't fit or look repetitive so, I'm in the process of creating custom made stuff specifically designed to appear generic and unrepeating

Fair enough, but in my personal opinion I don't that think the backgrounds look too bad. Though they do if you look at them carefully I suppose. :)

Ahhh the speakers aren't perfectly aligned!!!!! To stay on topic, the generic stuff will be released in the upcoming week I think

Jango 05-05-2010 08:43 AM

Ok, I'm looking forward to it. :)

To make a playable game, I think you have to build 3D models of every sprite, and not just use it as an image, and then use a programming language to be able to move these models in the game...

There's an open source 3D studio called Blender, it's pretty good, and there's an inbuilt programming language in it so that it's easier for someone to make the stuff move in the game.

If you want you could also downlaod a trial version of 3Ds MAX from Autodesk's official website, build the models, export them to Direct X (I'll have to ckeck again on that one) and then use something like C++ to build the game physics, accept the controls, move the models etc....

If you want I can help out with the programming and a bit with the modelling....

Of course a game like this would be extremely basic at first, but with time you can always improve on it...

Stay on topic Dean this isn't the place for any of that.

Dean Monti 05-06-2010 12:05 PM

Sorry, got a bit carried away there (I blame the O levels...)
Just ignore my post(s)...

STM 05-08-2010 02:53 AM

Ok fair do's. Ok, the generic walls will be turned into a generic map pack, there will be small walls and backgrounds as well, specifically for rupturefarms and maybe some gas screens as well (the greener ones)

Jango 05-08-2010 03:00 AM

Nice. Looking forward to it. :)

Gas screens are a good idea.

STM 05-08-2010 03:05 AM

Mmm, I always liked those ones that where in the special areas...free fire zone.
