I know this is going to sound religious, but it does tie in with this debate. There are thousands of religions in the world. Every one of them claims it is the one that tells the truth. How can we make sure of that? The statistics stand this way. If you are Christian, you are in a minority. We can't just get up and say that Christianity is the correct one. There is nothing wrong with being Homosexual, and I have no problem with people who are Homosexual. But most of the Christians that I have met hate Homosexuals. I find these people to be ignorant biggots. Many of these people have never even met a gay person, yet they make the judgement that they are bad. This really pisses me off. Every day in my school, I hear people called "gay" and "fag".

Now on to the genetics issue. A sexual preferance is something that can't be helped. It will always be a part of us no matter who we are or where we live or what we do.

If you actually read the bible instead of judging it and not reading, then you would know that the bible has a new covenant, and an old one. Christian God is not a hypocrite.

Why do you seem to think that Catholicism and Christianity are two different things? Catholicism is one branch of Christianity. If you mean that you are a Protestant, then Catholics are every bit as Christian as you. More, in fact, since they were there first...

It's okay for some people to talk all bad christianty and what we believe in and disagree, and it's not okay for christians to disagree with the people who are atheist? in the bible? No, catholics and christians are different. They both do believe in God and Jesus Christ the son of God, but somethings are different. We don't get baptized when we are babys. We don't do conformations or linton or whatever that's called.

I have no problem with any religion. However, when someone begins introducing scripture into a discussion that concerns the legal rights of people (of all belief systems), it becomes irrelevent and verges on the height of disrespect. When government policies are influenced by religion, we end up with things like the Taliban.

As I tried to point out in my last post, it's hypocritical to single out homosexuality when there are verses upon verses of sins that modern Christians seem to turn a blind eye to.

I understand. If you look at my post again, you'll see that my first paragraph concerned the introduction of religion to government policies and how people should be allowed to behave. In this case, the discussion was about homosexuals adopting children. Someone brought the bible into the discussion, which is irrelevent because not everyone in society follows the bible; there are people of all religions/beliefs.

Once the conversation had evolved into a religious debate, it's perfectly acceptable to use quotes from the bible to back up what you're saying. But I wasn't using them to support any claim of divine law. I just pointed out that it's hypocritical to single out homosexuals when it would be equally valid to deny people who eat shellfish the right to adoption because the bible says thou shalt not eat shellfish.

Pinky, why do you have no respect for anybody who disagrees with you? You think we have "something wrong with our brains" if we don't agree exactly with what you say. And anyway, Lampion always understands what people say, and English isn't even his first language, whereas English IS your first language, and you are always misunderstanding people. That is not my opinion, it is a statement of fact.

Now, I think people should stop flaming each other and get on with the Discussion at hand. On that note, I have scrolled back up to the last relevant post, which was Oddbodd's, halfway back up the page, to reply to some of the points he made:

I put it to you that a Gay couple is every bit as Nuclear as a Heterosexual couple. I know you have already attempted to deal with the problem of single-parent families, but I will reiterate what I have already said on the subject: I come from a single-parent family, and I am fine. Having a 'traditional' nuclear family isn't as important as having parents who love you, and a Gay couple is just as capable of loving as Hetero couples.

Sorry, lost me here. Are you saying that their language skills will be impaired, or that they would be socially impaired? Either way, explain what makes you think that they will.

I'm sure there are plenty of heterosexual fathers who have bought their daughters clothes at some point... Besides, the vast majority of Transsexuals are Heterosexual, anyway, so your argument doesn't stand up.

Firstly, the only reason they would be discriminated against is because of people like you, who hold these views. Once Homosexual Adoption is more 'normal', there will be no discrimination. On the other hand, if people like you succeed in keeping it a 'taboo', then the discrimination will continue. As for the last part of that quote, I still have no idea why you would think that a Homosexual couple would care for their child any less.

Who's to say the nuclear family is ideal? There are many cultures in the world who don't conform to the standards that seem so "normal" to us. Considering the examples I gave earlier that indicate a person raised by homosexuals will actually mature into someone who is better socially/academically adjusted, there's no basis for the claim that a nuclear family is essential for optimum child-raising.

Also, I might point out that if we should succumb to the desires of biggots, then African-Americans would still be under the whip of slavery.

P.S. The majority of transsexuals end up being heterosexual, if you consider their new sex as legitimate. However, most transvestites are actually heterosexual men who get a kick out of dressing in women's clothing.
