How does Randian Economics cover the people who do want powerful government, given that Hazel-Rah stated in his post that that is a legitimate viewpoint?

*Forgive me this is wordy but I don't want to be misunderstood! >.<
Under anarcho-capitalism WE would be the government, think of it this way, the federal government and the states have the most say in America they are the top two levels of the pyramid: federal, states, counties, cities, districts, citizens. They tax us against our will but we cannot monitor our government because congress is corrupt, our leaders spend our money on wars that congress doesn't even agree to, under capitalism we have no say. Take that pyramid turn it upside down, the majority or certain people that want government decide the leader or committee of leaders. However those leaders will have NO SAY in business ventures that much must be understood, it would be a free market of voluntary exchange run by ALL the individuals of the new and rightful top of the pyramid, this way the new leader/leaders couldn't abuse their power anyway! How can you call what we have now a free market economy, a TRUE free market economy needs no regulation, it probably wouldn't have any problems in the first place without rich bankers spending our money on vacations and the government reimbursing them. One can choose to live whatever kind of life he/she wants under anarcho-capitalism, live in complete chaos on the same land as your neighbor or simply ignore the decisions of the individuals put in power by the actual community, and you won't be punished by corrupt authority run by corrupt leaders. Retribution could be exacted voluntarily if one is wronged, but the things that cause crime, mostly poverty, will eradicated. Most of the world's problems are caused by its leaders not the starving masses acting on instinct to survive. Would that really cause more problems than we have now? No one person elected in the case of capitalism or unelected in the case of communism/facism deserves to tell us what to do, we are the masters of our own destiny, and money should not be motivation to be a leader, it should be done out of altruism. There is private property in anarcho-capitalism that does not belong to anybody but you. It's not that I want the government eradicated completely, I just want them to have FAR less power and in some cases none at all. The individual is king, a kind of structured anarchy. |
i'm knocking.

Hazel-Rah, that would only work if everyone was an intelligent and good-natured citizen. If everyone is allowed to do what they want, then what's to stop murder and exploitation with no state to intervene? Don't be so heartless to say it was the victim's fault or niave to think that a heavily limited state could do something about it. After all, police work for the government. Government needs money to get shit done. The state is what builds our roads and schools and that money has to come from somewhere. IMO, if you're going to live in a society, you have to contribute professionally and financially. Though I feel I shouldn't really comment on that since I'm not evn a tax-paying citizen yet.

Eh, I guess you guys are right, I have a lot of faith in human empathy. But capitalism isn't working out for us, you both know that.
|
So you're suggesting that instead we take out the restrictions and go for pure, undiluted and unregulated capitalism? You really think that would improve matters?
|
It's not just unregulated capitalism, it's a different kind with more focus on the individual where the rabble rules.
America's leaders are doing a horrible job representing the people. I never said the fed should be eliminated, just stay out of the economy, right now all they should really be doing is stepping in when a corporation oversteps its boundaries. Anarco-capitalism would probably work if we just kept the fed around for trust busting. Of course there are ethical problems with anarcho-capitalism, but there are ethical problems with any form of government, I live in a small fishing town, the police here feel like they could do whatever they want and get away with it and they do, you can't make a fed case out of it, the township won't allow it to get that far. |

I hope for your sake that video is being ironic.
Don't revive a long dead thread unless you have something meaningful to say. |

Two weeks ≠long dead. |
Maybe I was ;)
No, I wasn't. Opril's just annoying the hell out of me lately and it seems to me like that particular post wasn't worth reviving a two week old thread for. Sorry, but he's really getting on my nerves. |

That video made me feel ill. Only one thing can fix this.
Subway. |
