BUT TEH FOLIO IS BETTEHZ

Taco 12-25-2009 02:41 AM

Wow Xav, I thought there was actually a lot of bonus content in the limited edition and folio edition. Hmm they seem a little overprices just for a certificate and slightly better quality

BUT TEH FOLIO IS BETTEHZ

Perhaps, but is that slight improvement really worth the price?

enchilado 12-25-2009 04:52 PM

Of course not, but when did I ever care about stuff like that? Hell, I've got AU$150 in the whole world, I'm nearly halfway there.

Sekto Springs 12-25-2009 11:31 PM

I was personally disappointed in that the book showed very little of what we haven't already seen. Granted, it had high quality of drawings we only saw in secondhand photos. I love the book though, its great to be able to look down into my lap and see all the pages of Oddworldian glory.

Another thing that annoyed me, however, was how they neglected certain pictures. The book lacked some of the rendered images of the creatures used in the manuals, and seemed to only tease us even further by displaying never-before-seen artwork in thumbnail format in the corner of the page next to a small caption. I was also hoping for the pictures in Lulu's office that lampoon famous paintings like The Mona Lisa and Looks Like Four of a Kind, as well as Lulu's face on SLIME magazine.

Taco 12-27-2009 04:04 AM

So... is it worth getting? Or would I just be buying it for the sake of owning another piece of OW merchendise?

AlexFili 12-27-2009 04:34 AM

They should have released a PDF version too.

They should have released a PDF version too.

In my opinion that would kill the whole point of the art book. You could probably get most of the information that's included within the artbook on the internet already, a PDF version would be pointless.

Having all the art and information in a pretty book is what makes it special...

http://books.google.it/books?id=6t6i...age&q=&f=false

I think everyone who hasn't got the art book could check this link.

Josh 12-27-2009 09:45 AM

Is that even legal?

abe is now! 12-27-2009 10:09 AM

Why not? It's google books!

MA 12-27-2009 10:16 AM

http://www.ballisticpublishing.com/books/oddworld/

i found this in 08. you can browse the book before buying, but its smaller, so you cannot read most things. you can see the pictures fine, though.

EDIT: whoa, AiN's link is better.

Josh 12-27-2009 10:27 AM

AiN''s link only goes up to page 56. I'm assuming more will be added soon...?

Grieva 12-27-2009 10:39 AM

I dont think more will be added, its a preview, i bought the art book after reading though it a while back

Wil 12-27-2009 11:36 AM

It is legal, Ballistic gave Google permission to have low-quality scans of some of the pages. More will almost certainly not be added.

MA 12-27-2009 02:12 PM

creeper.

AlexFili 12-27-2009 02:13 PM

Who said anything about information? I'm talking like 3000x2500 (or higher res) images. I'd rather get something that won't decay with age.

MA 12-27-2009 02:15 PM

well the bible was written by that Jesus bloke weren't it, and that's been around for like a million years. that aint decayed.

Wil 12-27-2009 02:40 PM

Besides, he'd do that even if there wasn't a book involved.

Wouldn't we all?

Wil 12-30-2009 03:28 PM

My lap specifically? Golly, I'm flattered. *blush*

Nath 12-31-2009 03:35 AM

I looked through my book last night for the first time in about 2 years. Wow, that's a long time. Brought back good memories.

Sekto Springs 12-31-2009 08:59 PM

Holy shit. Nath posted.
I should say it's been about 2 years, you bastard. Why are you never around?

Nath 12-31-2009 11:57 PM

I didn't realise I was being missed. It's been a very very busy couple of years. And I'm ashamed to say this, but I started to forget about Oddworld :O so I came back to rekindle the spark I once had.

Taco 01-02-2010 06:21 PM

Ballistic Publishing ship to Aus right? Does anyone know how much postage is and whether or not it's registered post?

Also, welcome back Nath. I don't know you but you're a 2002 member so I imagine you're a legend around here..

Wil 01-02-2010 06:37 PM

Ballistic Publishing is Australian, odds are if they ship anywhere, it's there.

Taco 01-02-2010 06:42 PM

Holy shit, so they are... and they have stores in VIC. mind blown...

moxco 01-06-2010 03:54 PM

I actually bought my soft-cover edition at some book store in brisbane for only $50 AU!

Dipstikk 01-08-2010 05:15 AM

It's somewhere in my closet, I'm sure.

The one I bought was located in Italy, how is that possible?
