By the way I noticed a small glitch in the game, for some reason when I died the sprite for the little sign post that tells you about pushing barrels changed into a slightly different sign.

i know if you look carefully all the sign change

All this talk about Oddworld fan games makes me remember my old game, the first I ever made. I had been working on a glitch-free, side-scrolling, shooting filled sequel. Sadly my processor melted and I lost all my work from back then. My secondary character, Vras the dark-skinned Mudokon, had the possession ability. I used the orb, because its a lot easier to program.

As for Game Maker versus Adobe Flash. I would say both are great for making games. Game Maker is easier to use, but Adobe Flash has the benefit of being so much easier to distribute.
I use both of them myself. I can do everything in Game Maker that I can do in Adobe Flash. It just requires some thought. When making a game anything you think of is possible, you just have to figure out how to do it.

I'm currently working on making games I can make some money off. I'd love to make a Oddworld fan game again now that I have so much more knowledge about programming, but why do something for free when you can be paid for it?

OMG! I didn't know there was more then 1 level, but I accidently pushed a barrel onto a teleporter and it sent me to a new level! I was wondering what all this talk about barrel rides and stuff was about. cool, by the way is there anything after the barrel ride? because whenever I beat it it just starts over.

i like doing it for free unless i dont have a deadline on making the game, then getting paid would be good. im not very punctual you see. lates at school 70%...

right now i'm making the factory levels (trying to find a name for the factory) and need to finish of last 3 levels of the the Mudoochang caves (the mines)
edit--do aneyone have any slig walking sprites straight from the game if so please post here

well, depents what the factory does for example

BTGs is Gene Workz, geneticaly modyfing lab
and mine is NurveCo, power plant (they use nerve signals for power)

try to come up with names depending on the factorys usage

If you like i can cut and make a loop from the oddworld music, it will make the music half the size but make it seem like its longer than it was before.

Yerh, the thing with Fileave is that the download speeds are slow, I'm downloading at 47Kbps, my full speed is 1256kbps so you can see the difference.

Its the music that's making it so big, ill cut them for you soon.

EDIT: The game doesn't work, look, I'll post a screen shot for you so you know what goes on.

It stays like that for about 5 minutes and doesn't do anything so I killed the process. I've highlighted the process for your game to show you how much CPU and RAM its taking up. (CPU went up to 97% at max)

Lol, works now. Got sooo many irritating little things in it though. Like I keep getting stuck in crouch and cant get up.

How did you get it to work, my PC was getting red hot from trying to load that?

EDIT: It works, I managed to smoke a full cigarette before it loaded, also, on the barrel ride it told me this:

u got a problem thar, im no technoguy but I can tell you that somewhere youve ghosted (like deleted something without telling the PC) or changed an animation something along those lines.

ive editited most of these problems out now plus random lcd sign just use easy gif animator

I think I see the problem. Either the sound that is meant to play every frame a barrel is around isn't there, or you may not have set the sound action to anything.

Despite that it seems a fair game.:D

Not bad, I remember when I made loads of games in game maker 6. This is an alright start but the only thing that needs some work right now are the controls. Having to press down or up to crouch or stand up can be slightly annoying and time consuming. (If I were being chased, I'd probably would of been killed trying to do so) don't take this the wrong way, Your doing great right now!

There OK, but a bit short frames wise. Perhaps you could add more frames? By the way did the audio files work out, is the game smaller now?

I like it but the animation of the LCD pannel you posted is a little fast, you should lower the FPS (frames per second) Also did you get my glitch in the game message that I sent to you, if so are you working on it, if not it's okay I just need to know so that I can get a new programmer if I need to :D

ye the problem with the slig sprites is that there was only the stand sprite out of the walking set so i edited them to move more mechanical
