I've been playing creature stage, and while I enjoy the gameplay, I'm close to giving up. Because I see nothing anywhere but fucking Maxis creatures. I've downloaded stuff, it's in my Sporepedia, I've created stuff, but nothing appears other than Maxis. I've hunted 2 species to extinction because they appeared everywhere, and hoped that killing them would provide new species.
I lvoe the game, but I hate the creature content. 58 creatures encountered so far. 55 are Maxis, 3 are creatures that were auto downloaded when I got the game that i didn't even choose to donwload. I so dearly wish you could ban Maxis creatures. Spore is about the massively multiplayer sharing aspect, yet I've yet to experience it to any degree. |
When you start a game, you have to choose a theme for the game. It can be Maxis (most of the encountered creatures will be from Maxis) "My creations" or the name of one of your friends, or a sporecast. I think your problem comes from here. You must have the Maxis theme on ^^. The only way to change that is to restart a game ^^ hope it'll help you.
Whenever i start a new game, there's no theme available except for 'No theme' :(
Still, i manage to find creatures other than Maxis ones... And then i eat them |
Well, if you do not have an available theme, it means that you have no friends on the game, no sporecasts and no created creatures as well. Or maybe a glitch D: But actually there is no theme for the "download section" of the sporepedia. Just "Friends", "Sporecasts"and "My creations".
So how on earth do you request for things you've downloaded to appear?
Well, the game do it automatically when you select a theme, to fill in the theme. But the main encountered creatures will be selected with the theme. I mean if you have the no theme, the majority of the encountered creatures will be from Maxis, and if you select the "My creations" theme, it'll be your creations in priority, and downloaded creatures in a second time.

Haven't got this game yet, found it for $80 at JBHIFI, but I'm not too sure, does it download much on the internet, because I have prepaid internet, and am busy playing the witcher untill school starts tommorrow, and then will spend my non preparing for year 12 time that I have on weekends to play fable 2, so I'm not too sure about getting it.
Probably will eventually, my brother loved the sims 2 and civilasation, and I'm aware Spore basically rips this, and more off, but I'm sure he'll enjoy it. The space stage seems great, if I get the game, that's what it'll be for. |
I can't give you numbers but it doesn't download a huge amount from the internet. Maybe a few megabytes every time you run it.
That said, I finally got to the centre of the galaxy and can thus officially say that it's not worth buying. It's only fun as a game of designing creatures, buildings and crafts. What you actually do with them is boring as batshit. |

A confirms Creepy & Cute Parts Pack for November 18, with Space stage slated for spring 2009.
GameStop's listing for Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack is back, and this time it's official. Along with officially announcing today the first add-on pack for Will Wright and Maxis' evolution simulator Spore--10 days after it was spotted in the specialty retailer's online database--EA also revealed the game's first expansion, which will focus on the Space Age. As previously reported, the Creepy & Cute Parts Pack will be available for PCs and Macs beginning November 18. The add-on will include in excess of 100 new creature-building parts that will fall in line with the titular theme. The parts, available in the game's Creature Creator, include components for the body, as well as paint options, animations, and backgrounds. |
Any other game with any other publisher would have released those as a free update.
What, new content? Expansion packs are never free. I've downloaded lots of new content for other games before, and they're had price tags.
May I point you to valve, dear BM?
I won't be wasting any more money on this. I imagined Spore as some huge and great game that would let you free in almost every aspect of the game. Instead it became a creature creator (which is awsome) with a bunch of REALY lame sidegames. Spacestage is just as boring and repeative. Maxis realy let me down with this one.
Yes, we all imagined the game to have all sorts, though I can't see what in the demos it doesn't actually have in the game. You were taken by what you were shown, and then provided exactly with what you were shown.
I had discussions with people who imagined full-blown parasitism and brain-slug options to evolve. People went completely overboard with this. :
Good news, but it means that this would be able to be in the original game, if it would be reported. So, it's just business, again. A lot of money will be spent to have the complete game..
Wait for a combo pack, the current price is excessive.
Aye. So overall, the general opinion is negative? Too bad, I still enjoy this piece of shit. Maybe I just have a 2001:ASO fetish. Dropping monoliths for me is almost orgasmic.
I likes me some creature stage. otherwise thumbs down.
will get the cute/scary pack or whatever because I like the creature stage so much. I'm sure it will hit torrents as soon as it's released. |
