I just started The Fountainhead.

If you are anything like me, when you get to the section where our male hero rapes our female hero and she realizes that she loves it you will finally realize that Ayn Rand's philosiphies are horrible and disgusting. She really thinks that this rapist is the most pure of all human creation and that he knew best what the woman wanted.

I dunno. I found ED's article on Objectivism to be pretty funny, though. "It was my right as an individual to blow up that building!"

I've never actually read anything of Rand's, but after reading about how Objectivism had a huge influence on Bioshock, I started doing some looking-into of it.

Leto 09-28-2008 01:39 PM

right now I am reading:

I hope to move onto it's sequels within the month. It's far more enthralling than first anticipated.

Kimon 09-28-2008 01:59 PM

Yes, the socio-political subtext in the entire "Clifford" series is really subtle and well-thought out, despite the childish illustrations.

I'd write more, but my shift at the library is over and I'M LEAVING bigreddorg

Iknowrite?

Ayn Rand is a she satan whore bitch donkey dick fart. She is one of the few people on this planet that I honestly wish would trip face-first into a puddle of horse semen, drown in it, be brought back to life, then be raped in all of her holes with phallic objects made entirely of fire and acid.

Then shot.

Leto 09-28-2008 02:56 PM

Oh Jesus.

I'd love to rep you further for that post.

I have been reading Eragon and Eldest over and over so many times, I know most of the darn books off by heart. I need to buy MOAR...
Oh, and The Bakers Boy. Strange book it is.
And I wanna read IT....

Nemo 09-28-2008 07:39 PM

I "acquired" the Lord of the Rings books, so I'm going to try to read those.

Abeguy 09-28-2008 10:24 PM

Reading Brisingr, the third and hopefully last book in the Inheritance trilogy.

Didn't know it was out...picked it up at my school.

Might finish it, though the series is more boring then I remember.

Nate 09-29-2008 06:41 AM

Just finished The Absolute Sandman volume #1.

It was good. Not quite the life-changing event that I had been led to believe it would be. But then perhaps the next three volumes will do that for me.

It definitely gets better as it goes along. The final portion is actually beautiful.

I have just finished the graphic novel "Watchmen", I thought it was cool, though a bit dark for my liking and I think it's one of those stories you have to read over and over again to understand as I got a bit confused with the ending!

Nemo 09-30-2008 09:18 PM

Holy hell, I apparantly legally own a copy of The Hobbit.

Laser 10-01-2008 02:43 AM

I've read...Times and Legends: Nagash, in the warhammer range of books.

Brilliant book

Strike Witch 10-01-2008 03:13 AM

I just read 1001 Ridiculous Ways To Die. Twas funnier without the author's occasional bad jokes.

I like the skydiver jumping out of the plane with his camera but forgetting his parachute, though.

Anonyman! 10-18-2008 07:38 PM

A bit of a bump. I'm sure almost any over the age of old has seen 2001: A space odyssey, am I correct? I rather enjoy that movie/book series.

Strike Witch 10-18-2008 09:58 PM

I just read through a free review copy of the Force Unleashed star wars book.

What a ton of uninteresting crap. Play the game, it's the same sort of thing.

Hobo 10-19-2008 01:55 AM

Jennifer Government. Not too shabby.

Phylum 10-19-2008 02:02 AM

Just finished Winnie the Pooh by A.A.Milne(with original colour illustrations by E.H.Shepard) and will read The House At Pooh Corner once my friends done with it. He'll probably keep it for as long as he can without getting murdered by the librarian just to annoy me.

Nate 10-19-2008 02:06 AM

Winnie the Pooh is class!

My five year old self is so totally jealous, and he's in charge of my body for four hours a day.

OANST 10-20-2008 06:42 AM

I'm reading The Telling by Ursula LeGuin. Pretty good, so far.

mitsur 10-20-2008 04:28 PM

Just finished Brinsingr, the new Inheritance book.

Captivated me from the new take on an overused subject.

Kimon 10-24-2008 11:16 AM

I'm reading Black Hole by Charles Burns right now, it's pretty uncomfortable. I don't think I like it.

Strike Witch 10-24-2008 12:13 PM

Just finished Terry Pratchett's latest book, The Nation.

Man's got some of his magic back, methinks.

You found Making Money disappointing as well? Not many people seem to share my point of view about that. D:

Strike Witch 10-24-2008 12:59 PM

It wasn't bad, it just didn't feel really inspired.

But man, the Nation's great.

GRARRR! My library doesn't even think it exists. But at least I put my name down to be the first to get it when they finally approach the modern world.

Strike Witch 10-24-2008 04:38 PM

I got a review copy =3

Wings of Fire 10-24-2008 04:46 PM

Wow, I finished it before I even got up to uni, then I discovered the fun of set text reading lists.

Maus is an awesome epic uber cool comic, it's about Auschwitz, the Jews are mice, the Nazis are cats, the American's are dogs, the Poles are pigs and the Swedes are reindeer.

The Nazi cats still scare the shit out of me.

Mac Sirloin 10-25-2008 04:45 AM

I READ THAT, I got it with a Hellblazer compilation last year! and something I don't remember. I think it was Sin City.

The first part, anyway, but it was good.

Maus is amazing. By far the most engaging Holocaust literature I've ever read.

Leto 10-26-2008 04:42 PM

I own both Maus volumes, have had them since I was like 10. probably the first proper graphic novel I read until I found Black Hole (forgot who it was by... about a STD that turn people into mutants? something like that? cracking good read).

edit: oh wow Matt's reading it up there, lul. I rate it.

used:) 10-26-2008 10:17 PM

A friend lent me Return of the Dark Knight. I'm slowly reading it in the midst of reading for school.

skillyaslig 10-27-2008 09:20 PM

I just read Brisingr, I had a nut when I found out there was another book after it, so I have to wait for another 3 years or so until I find out if Eragon and Saphira kick ass....

OANST 01-14-2009 07:27 PM

I'm reading 'The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle' by Haruki Murakami. I am enjoying the shit out of it. Best book that I have read in some time.

My sister has both copies of Maus, so I got to read the second, I really liked it, I expected to be really depressed at the end (HURR I WONDER WHY) but still enjoyed it.

Black Hole was fuckin' retarded.

I finished reading Lamb: The Gospel according to Biff, Christ's Childhood pal, Batman: The Long Halloween, and Louis Riel's graphic novel biography.

Lamb is fantastic. Read it now.

Long Halloween was good, too, but I only wanted it for the Action Figures.

Louis Riel's Graphic novel thing was okay, if you can find get it from your library do it, but not really worth a purchase if you HAVE to find out what Gabriel Dumont did after fleeing to the U.S.

abe is now! 01-17-2009 05:48 AM

I am reading "Gigi Buffon Numero 1".
