Aw shoot... MY name starts with an A. :nonono:

Hmm me too. I'm pretty sure Max was talking about me. ;)

Yes, some people main source of humour IS at the expense of others.

I make fun of me, myself and I. In most cases I make fun of those three at the same time.

I only put humour on the expense of others when they annoy me.

It is shi. It makes fun of people. Most dark or crude homour I see to be at the expense of others when it makes fun of people. Like South Park and celebrities. I think I'm screwed for so much off topicness....Well on topic...I can't think of anything to say on topic....Yay noobs.

What the hell do you consider funny then? Oh forget it, you'll probably say something like "I have a good life with good friends, I don't need to have lots of humor." But just remember this, sonny, all good crude humorists or whatever should know that if they're willing to dish it out, they better be able to take it. I make fun of people behind their backs all the time, and I expect something bad in return. But if they can't see me for what I am to them, an asshole, then they're wasting their breathe. Assholes such as oanst and myself don't give two ****s whether or not you're offended. The person should be mature enough to just shrug off our disgusting form of humor. You live miles upon miles away and will probably never encounter us in real life. What the hell do we care what you think?

You're a man.

:)I find this funny, even though my sound isn't working http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f57aYASKeRU&NR=1 . I don't see how maturity comes into shrugging off insults, people called me a freak to my face, but I didn't see the humour. Ah yah, and if you keep on making fun of people behind their backs.....Well yeah, someone might find out, you could lose friends, bladibladibla. And a-holes are exactly what I don't like, you can be humourous and not a hole.

Do you think that someone calling you a freak to your face may not be attempting humor?

BTW that is the ugliest frigg`n dog i have ever had the displeasure of viewing.

:)They seem to get a sick kick out of it. Oh come on, Sam isn't that bad without the demony eyes. :)So what did he say on the video? Because my sound isn't working.

Chubfish 07-09-2007 12:35 PM

Maybe I should go on topic...I don't think most of the noobs here get flamed. I didn't...and some of the noobs here have became good members anyway. And we were all noobs once...but anyway.

Aww, come on. You're either being more than slightly disingenuous here, or just plain stoopid. I would hope you recognise rudeness when you see it, that not everything is game for a laugh - not some absolute 'I'm an asshole, it's what I do: deal' bollocks.

Besides, of course you'd be bothered whether or not someone is offended by something outrageous being said. Can you imagine if you got no reaction at all?! By god, you'd be so disappointed without your moment of validation.

Anyway, I'm mainly playing devil's advocate here, because someone may actually have a legitimate point here and I don't want to see them simply being shouted down simply because they aren't hip enough to be in your crowd.

If you were so completely secure in your asshole-ness (I probably had that stage when I was 13), then why attack someone so profusely who's doing simply what you ask for? The person who's answering back, who decided not to take people's crap. Just like you asked for. Or was it not the right kind of rebuttal?

Now, here's the rub: either your statement above is actually some vaguely post-modernist, ironic comment on your disability to empathise OR you actually believe that contradictory nonsense.

Disingenuous or stoopid. Which? Which!

EDIT: Because I don't think this is clear from all of the above, just to say I really have no problem with the sort of humour Zozo takes umbrage with, and in fact the people who would perhaps be seen to be the main perpetrators are actually my favourite members on here. Including Used. But the aggression shown isn't justified or helpful, it just makes me cringe. I'm fine with the piss-taking, I'd probably be doing the same if EVERYONE wasn't so dismissive of the point, but to actually try to debunk an argument which isn't all that unreasonable with such a zealous streak is, for me, just ridiculous. Especially as it's the sort of thing some young idiot would come along and punch the air and say 'right on!' to.

And once again: I love Used, I want his babies, but I think he's way off base here.

:pNah, I just like Sam, and today I got to hear him and he said something about being electrocuted I think. And Sam's owner Susie posted a coment saying she found it funny.

Exactly, you find him in pain hilarious. The owner doesn't matter, it's the dog whos being laughed at.

Sadist! SADIST!

:pI didn't know what he was saying the first time, and I needed my friend to tell me what he was saying when I could hear it....Wait, my friend is partly deaf....Oh well, I'm insane. I find the fact he looks scary humorous, they made his eyes all demonic.

Leto 07-10-2007 10:13 PM

So there, laughing AT the scary dog.

All humour is at the expense of something.

:)Yeah, but I like Sam and I'm not trying to hurt his feelings or laugh at him harshly. Its when people get a kick out of hurting peole's feelings or that they don't care when they do hurt people's feelings, then I get bugged.

Rex Tirano 07-12-2007 08:39 AM

Oof, on topic please people.

All humour is at the expense of something.

I'm trying to a think of something to contradict that, just cos I can't stand that sort of sound-bite absolute... but unfortunately I can't, so I'm gonna just have to admit that's correct.

Though we've still got to remember there are levels to this: taking the classic example, there's a world of difference between the 'expense' of laughing at a donkey eating a fig and someone laughing at an act of infanticide.

Besides, it's like saying ANYTHING is at the expense of something. It's a nonsense. Isn't it?

Why do you keep using the term 'noob' in every other post? This is Pat And His Islam all over again, and equally tedious.

Can't we just have an orgy instead?

It's a kind of love

Laser 07-13-2007 01:11 PM

A cybersex orgy.
Now that would be funny

Wil 07-13-2007 02:49 PM

Cybersex? That’s just wrong. Take your perversions elsewhere.

moxco 07-13-2007 06:43 PM
