Really? Then I was right, they could have just put him in soletary.
Score one for snuzi :). |
Although it's always possible that the new Iraqi government care about human rights...
|
Under Islamic law? Yeah, and Ken Lay was a socialist.
|
Well then it would ahve been fine if they did the deed in Iraq, wouldn't it? And it'd be more of a punishment for all the crimes he had committed.

Why not? Would you prefer if they were killed, rather than be put there?

Hn... I'm not sure what I was really saying there. What I meant was I thought it was better to kill Saddam then to put him in solitary confinement.
However, I'm probably being crap in thinking that the death penalty should apply to one when it doesn't for others. [*Devils advocate*] But if the person was a mass murderer and had a high-potential to escape, who also showed no signs of remorse and wanted to kill s'more people. Wouldn't it be better to humanely kill them than risk the lives of other innocent people? - Rexy |
I dunno, I'm tempted to favor the death penalty a lot, but if we kill one man, then that just opens up a door for us to push the letter to kill other people under lesser convcitions.
|
I just can't stand the idea that we, people who consider ourselves to have humanity, to treat people decently and generally be above filth like murderers, would so willingly, even demand, to commit the most barbaric act permitted by law. I just can't fathom how we could possibly condemn a man for doing such things, and then go ahead and do it ourselves.
It's just so medieval. I thought, hoped, that we were better than this. |
I think that killing Saddam was completely pointless, since we just glorified him in his country and made him a martyr. That's why we should've just put him in soletray. He would have suffered more for his crimes, and he wouldn't have the satisfaction of knowing that his "people" are honoring him.
When it comes to the death penalty, I really don't agree with it. As Bullet Magnet said, we're basically stooping down to their level, making ourselves the murderers. Plus, for all we know, when it comes to certain cases, we might be killing an innocent man, who did not commit the crime he is being punished for. After all, the judicial system is far from perfect. That's why I think it would just be a better idea to put these types of people away in soletary. If they did do it, they're paying for it dearly, by not being able to escape from the room, let alone this world. If they didn't do it, there's always a chance they'll be found innocent and released, rather than being killed and found to be innocent afterwards. It just seems like a much better form of punishment. |
I would much rather had him killed by me, but I have excepted that he has been killed all ready.
Saddam sucked balls. Glad he is dead. |
should have sent him to prision and i pridict this is how he would end up hehe :P
|
Nope, as some of pointed out he's with the Big Bad Guy;
http://www.thamike.com/fn_images/satan_saddam.jpg Man, that movie was awesome. |
Brief post just to say Saddam shouldn't have been hanged.
Why? No good reason. He just kicked ass when he grew that beard. Oh, Saddam with a beard...true bliss. ...quite hott, too. |

Hopefully, you'll stay this time and give OANST a run for his money for the title 'most intelligent/confidence-lowering comeback ever' |
Jacob is who OANST wants to be when he grows up. Period.
