I'm getting the feeling that you all would rather want nice people in office rather than people who can do a good job. I'm not saying any of the candidates are stupid, I am just saying you all might want to reconsider who your vote is going to. Think about who you think would do the best of jobs as OT Moderator rather than who be the nicest to everybody.

KIMON FOR OFFICE!! |

Kimon for backup! |
....And this is a 'serious' job, houndred of lifes depends on it, so we need qualified people, right?
And MF, if you are against nice people for moderators, why did you complain about Havoc? |
Oh my....
You don't need someone nice to do the job well. People are just more comfortble with a nice person to rule them, but that doesn't mean that they will the be the ones to do the job. But yet something comes to mind. If everyone nominated a person who could do the job well, wouldn't they 1. already be a Mod or 2. been a Mod before or 3. were comparibly new when the last debate on Moderators was done? And Dusan, for goodness sakes, Havoc is a nice guy! If someone is done constant rule breaking or pointless posts, a person will most likely bash them (a little)! It's just that there are some people who are just plain stupid around here, and they need to stop slacking and learn displine! Though, I do agree on the serious job part. Yet there are some Moderators that can goof off, but like doctors, they need to give their dsipline matters seriousily. |
:
And Slaveless – is that name ironic given how far your tongue is planted up Ambi’s arsehole? “However, like I said to her, even though nameplate doesn't sais she is one, Ambi is a Moderator.” I’ve just vomited. |
:
Mutual friend was complaining about him becouse he weren't nice, and now he is saying that person shouldn't be nice to become moderator (I used "nice" word ****ing alot). The irony is obvious. (this post is now pointless because I did'nt see MF post) |

Are you going to keep flaming each other or are you going to sit down and shaddap like I am about to tell you to?
SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP! Thanks for that, and for the kind and unkind words spoken about me these past posts. :) |
Flaming? Hardly. I've merely been correcting Dusan over his constant misreading of people’s posts (mostly mine).
Only the 'You said it, buddy' post was superfluous. |
:
and yes, RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE'S WAY OF THINKING!!! |
Fuck off.
Thanking you. This is a bit spammy but just READ what he writes. |
Any more crap in this thread and warnings start flying. Simply post your nominations for candidates. If you feel someone is unsuitable for the job then the solution is simple, when the time comes for the actual voting, don't vote for them. Problem solved.
|
OR, alternatively, this thread can be used as a forum not only for nominations but also for discussion/ranting/whatever on the choices. Which would seem acceptable.
Potential-politicians have to suffer through people jeering at them during their speeches, it's the same thing. It's the beautiful democratic process! Problem made more interesting. |
OR, alternatively, shut up and follow the rules us staff are clearly laying out for you.
|
If your rules are stupid I don't see why they can't be discussed in an on-topic fashion.
This isn't intended to rile you, but I am evidently right here. Sigh, I'm asking for trouble aren't I? < been doing that a lot today. |
Because this isn't necessarily a democracy. We could choose to let you express your views, or rather in your case argue with and rile everyone who disagrees with you, thus filling the topic was increasingly off topic scrapping. :p
Unfortunately, in this case, we've chosen to tell you to be quiet. |
Actually, I really take this point. I think I, and many other people, do kinda see that expressing one's opinion is a RIGHT and the internet especially is a platform for freedom.
But it isn't. This site is run and paid for by SOMEONE, and they're the people who have the rights to do whatever the **** they like. To post here is a 'privilege' (of crappy sorts), not a right. I just automatically take the idealised view that moderators are actually fair, and people are free to say whatever they want. But you're quite right, I'll shut up. This reads far more as some kind of back-handed compliment than it really is. I'm just setting out the status quo. Needlessly. :) See? What a nice way to phrase things, Rich. Havoc would just have twisted my nips. |
:
On the subject of niceness, it doesn't really need to be a qualification as others have stated. DI was a great mod (however he gave out lots of special treatment, heh) and he was quite the meanie. I'd still prefer someone kind and whatnot as a mod to insure fairness, although I'm not opposed to the occasional scathing remark with a bit of a bite to it. |
Ahh, MF, so like Dino minus the annoyingly enormous posts. :)
|
Can I ask that no one display things like "Vote for Ambi" in their signatures? I appreciate the notion(s) and definitely the votes when the time comes, but I don't want anyone out lobbying for me. So please, if you have something in your sig about me, please delete it.
|
:
My, my, these threads are quite dramatic, aren't they? Again I say, Humph Galumph. And I think the most central purpose of modship is fairness, which is what you nominators and/or voters should be focusing on. Who would actually do the job well? Once you've figured that out, it's pretty much just just personal preference. But for some of you slower voters, I made an equation. (Humor + Amiability + General Goodliness)(Fairness) - The Value of Post Count/Join Date = New Moderator. I spent much too long working on that equation. |
:
|
It is alright for you to vote for someone in your siggy, but apparantly Ambi doesn't want anyone doing that for her. Everyone else appears fine with it.
|
:
|
Because she just doesn't want us to. I wanna vote for her in my sig too, but if she says no, then i won't. Simple.
|
:
|
Ambi is not telling you that you can't support her in your signature. She is requesting respectfully that no one does, for her own reasons. It wasn't meant as a personal attack, Lord Vulcher.
SeaRex will compile a list of the nominees that comply with the rules tomorrow, as he is behind UTC, and therefore should any VERY late applicants want to nominate, they have the extra time. Then we will commence the one week voting session (which will be run differently this time). Alcar... |
....and maybe that's a trik, coz she want to show us how noble she is (no offence or someting, you're great, maybe it's not that, i'm just saying)....
|
This isn't McCarthyism people. Keep it simple.
|
It's reverse psycoligy I tell yaz! Only it's not working... :p
|
Erm. Yeah, Havoc, when I said no one should do it, I really meant everyone should! :p
You sillys. Alcar summed it up nicely but I just want to say again that I appreciate the thought of the whole sig thing (and still want votes!), it just makes me feel a little weird.. Like I have lobbyists running around for me or like I'm somehow showing off my votes or something. I don't think signatures really change anyone's mind anyway, you know? My own is just for fun. But thanks again for the support. |

Garg. I was as nice as can be in my first post about it. I simply asked that no one do it. It wasn't meant to make you feel bad nor was it a personal attack.
I just don't want anyone to do it. I was never mad or mean about it. The thought is nice, but I don't want you to do it please. |
Anyway, I had a weird dream last night about who would be the next Moderator. Well, lets just say I saw a mermaid jump out of the water and catch a badge that said MOD. I wonder what it meant....
|
You need to stop watching so many Disney movies and you have no life since you dream about this sort of stuff?

That's a pity. I adore Pinky and the Brain.
