Cyber-Slig, it's good to know that you've been in the situation I have been in many times before. I honestly don't think I've been too harsh. Perhaps a little at the beginning, but I've progressed slowly down to a less-agro approach. I've been very lenient with a lot of things. I've given reminders instead of warnings. I've reduced banning times. I've let what some might call spam pass through.

Alcar...

Maybe you should do that more often :p

I honestly think that a part of the problem is that it came too sudden... And i think that might have made member think : This is bullshit.
I think You really have to loosen up a bit... Just a tiny little bit.

I think he's already done it.I thought ''Oh no not a warning'' . If you give reminders to people they won't change thier attitudes but they will try to refrain from doing it again.BM could be much better if you tried to remind him of the spamming and he would stop probably.I have also noticed most of the spam has swearing. Why not get a swear blocker? I think we're heading down the right track now

I understand that reminders or cautions (ta Charlie ;)) are a better way of informing people. But I've been asking the same question a lot lately, in regards to the no warnings / cautions:

What about repeat offendors?

There are those that will repeat the offence, even after a reminder is handed out. Do I simply send more reminders? Of course not. Which leads us to something else. What about those members that deliberatly break the rules? Especially in Welcomes & Birthdays, members are scaring off new members, by deliberatly greeting them in a rude fashion. A simple reminder ain't going to do much there either.

EDIT: About the swear filter. We tried implementing that a while ago, but it wasn't a popular suggestion. But a few more members and moderators have suggested we implement it, so I'll add it to the to-do list. Which will be addressed after we sort out this enforcement scheme stuff.

Alcar...

I understand people who keep doing that. they should get a warning if they always offend. So far I haven't seen anyone greet new people in a rude fashion. I try my best to do it like oddish and WiLL making banners.I make a smilie for the new guy. Maybe if people kept it simple on the welcome forum with ''Hi there welcome to the forums!'' that problem would'nt exist . I have seen allot of nastiness when people leave though

I believe something about nastiness in returning threads/new comers came up. That reminds me, I need to create a new thread of niceness offering back there. And possibly update the posting tips/spam reminders in Off Topic. I s'pose whatever happens with this will happen, and will wind up however. But the the arguments are just running around in circles now, and the bottom line seems to be missed.

Choosing the blunt path of spam enforcment was most likely not on the smart side, as something so sudden would surely create a nasty backlash.

Trying to fight it and start a "revolution" is equally silly, will get no where, and merely looses face for everyone.

My solution here? We've stated our opinions, nothing is changing. Delete the Crackdown announcment or whatever, and put up in place ot it, a nicer sounding reminder to keep posts relevant and on topic. Close the 3 or so threads here in the FS & H. If it's still needed at all, create an thread of nice debate if any further concerns arise. Because as of now, the effort for laxing down is just as futile as the effort for staying uber strict. And right now, this is that last thing we want. With the mod elections coming up, and increasing publicity for Stranger, constant bickering and a hard ass attitude are both big no no's.

If our staff just sticks to what we need to, covering out own areas well enough, and a new stranger kin gets worked up, we'll have a clean jump into the rush for the next game. Whenever it decides it wants to come out.

Haha... I just made that Revolution thread so we could actually see how many was with or against the law. I just like calling it revolution, like alcar likes to the law enforcement The Lawenforcement.
I wasn't trying to make a big revolution... I just wanted a clear message what members think, an overall list of what they want best. The revolution was just a cool title.

And yes... Now that i actually think about it... It actually the nasty posters that scares members away. I think it's apity that there always has to be someone who says something like: "oh no, not another Noob" or " Do not have a good time here"
And stuff like that. What happened to our nice members?
But then again... Members ARE leaving becouse oft the law. Many Members has posted their goodbye, and said that they wehre leaveing becouse of the law.

Heh. Rude posters. Psh.

Anybody who takes any amount of time to associate posts with names should know my stance on that. *evil glare* Be nice, people. Or I'll have your buttox's on a silver platter next to the roasted pig.
