I seem to remember last year that if we voted we had to vote for each catagory. If that's the case this year I shall not vote, as I wish to leave one or two forums blank.

Naturally, on the off chance that I do get OT and FA&L, I would be more then happy to hand down one of the titles to the person that came in second.

Come to think of it, maybe that should be a new thing. Perhaps it would be better if each moderator (sans admin/Alcar) could only have control over one area. That might be more fair. I don't know. What do you guys think?

Abe Babe hasn't given us the 'OK' yet, but she's usually pretty flexible about these things and were overdue for a new election.

oh yeah, Peter told me that if there's a new election there will definatly be rule changes.

It was a bit over the top wasn't it. That's why I think this year we should just avoid it completely. Let Abe Babe decide, based on what has been said in this thread.

There is a lot to decide though. There are quite a few nominees for OT. Nominations for the OT moderators wouldn't be a bad idea, since there are so many. But I'm not really sure whether the people of OWF are really qualified to decide who moderates and who doesn't. A lot of them hold stupid grudges and might pass off good mods.

I'm still staying secretive about my voting plans. I'm guessing it will be in Poll form, that way we can vote privately, I personally wasn't all that for last year's system (mainly because I wasn't here).

Basically, the topic of new Moderators had been discussed before I left a week ago between Abe Babe and myself. Elections for Fan Corner and Non-Oddworld Art & Literature will take place sometime in the forseeable future. All other forums, do not need new Moderators.

It is not the member's place to run Administrative tasks. I'd appreciate it if the members would be members, and leave the Administrative side of things to those that run the Administrative side of things. Sure, you can suggest, but it ends there. It's funny to see that you'd do it during my absence, I'm sure it was no coincidence.

I posted our reasons as well. We don't see any need for Moderators other than those in Fan Corner and Non-Oddworld Art & Literature. Elections for those two forums will begin sometime in the forseeable future.

As for the "know your place" stuff. Could you explain what is wrong with that? Or is it the case of shear jealousy? For an example. I am enlisted in the Australian Army Cadets. I am of Full Corporal rank. That is, considering, fairly low. I have three ranks above me, not mentioning Adult Officers. I do what the higher ranks command. I want to progress to the higher ranks, and in due time I will continue up the rank ladder. But I still do what I'm told. Every time at Cadets you are reminded of the rank structure, and your place in that structure.

Get over it. You're the members. I was once a member, and I remember being full of energy and ideas. Well, as long as they don't impede on the normal workings of the forums (which clearly, starting up your own elections, when we do that ourselves) is fine.

Hmm, comparing the Forums to military rankings seems a bit OTT, Alcar. In fact, I'm kinda siding with some of what Codek (heh, typed Death) says, here. If Stranger is released in Spring 2005, then it won't be a vast number of months before I'm off to Holland. It's obviously impossible to speculate this far in advance, but I should think GD will still be very busy at that time. Another moderator for GD, one from an American time zone, would be great if things got much busier than they have been (though I say that having come from a whole week of new posts).

I can't really speak for any other Forum, though. I see no reason why a mod of FS&H needs to be part of the Admin team - TPTB will read what's said and respond to it in any case. It's not as if being a mod of this forum will suddenly give you the ability to cause OWFwide havoc.

We may not need these mods now, but we will pretty soon. The second stranger is released, there will be way more activity here than the current system can cater for.

And hey, if it turns out we don't need the extra mods, why not keep them on anyway? It can never hurt to have a few extra people making sure everything is the way it should be.

Alcar, please don't feel like we are doing your job for you, and say things like you want us to just be "members" - that sounds increadibly facist and idealist. This is the forum suggestions and help section, and we're making a suggestion. We are as much as you allow us to be, and frankly I think you're deliberately restricting us from making suggestions like these because you think it's putting you out of the job.

There is another way. A much easier way.

I understand that we will have a huge rush of new members during the pre-release of Stranger, the release of Stranger, and the post-release of Stranger. However, what is the difference between that, and the rush concerning Munch's Oddysee?

As far as I remember, no new Moderators were elected for the upcoming rush, other than the Spoiler Forum Moderator (which meant General Discussion was included). If the number of Moderators we had back then was smaller than the amount we have today, why should I worry any more than reason? When the rush occurs, both Abe Babe and myself will be on hand more often. Especially seeing as we will have to contend with updating our Oddworld websites a great deal more than at current.

If we feel new Moderators are needed for any other forums, which, as I've said, we have already discussed, and we don't (other than Fan Corner and Non-Oddworld Art & Literature) then we will discuss it, and see if it is a viable solution to our problems. I understand you are thinking of the future, but then so am I, except I'm using the past to help me.

We do not want extra Moderators for the sake of having a few extras to help with small tasks. If you feel so strongly about it, why not just help out now, instead of petitioning for Moderatorship. You seem to think that being a Moderator will instantly make you help people. That may be so for a month, but if you're not willing to do it as a member, I can for sure see that you won't do it as a Moderator.

The forums for election stand at Fan Corner and Non-Oddworld Art & Literature. The elections will begin sometime soon. If you have something constructive to say, please reply, but if it is the same old wish-wash, keep it to yourself, I won't bother repeating myself for the fifth time.
