Would it be "morale"? Since telling jokes to make light of a situation would fall under that catagory...

Yes! All laugh at the amazing dyslexic!

Look I can dance too!

Bite me!

I'm not laughing at you, you've mistaken the tone of my post for something else...

People who would be drafted would be between ages 18 through 25. I am 22 which I have three years until I am no longer required. If it did happen generally they would start and send the 18 year olds in first. By the time they get to my age group my age group would be no longer required. because we would be over 25 years of age.

Now here are two options you can do if a draft is re issued God forbid it isn't.

One flee the country but don't plan on comming back because you will be put into prison or two inlist yourself into the Air Force National Guard and be loading missles on air craft somewhere on an air base that way your not going in with the Marines or Army and your not on the front lines. Plus you would be guaranteed two years of services and then your done. Thats a way out if you don't want to be a fighter or soldier.

My uncle did that during Nam he inlisted himself before he was drafted and went to the Air Force and worked on a base as some kind of specialist. He was there for two years and after that he was finnished with it.

You eather flee and never come back or inlist yourself before they draft you. Which is the smart thing to do if you don't want to go to prison and still want to live here in the States. I paticulary don't want to move to another country away from my family and friends. Ask any American they would feel the same. But then again I do have family who lives in Ontario Canada I would most likely go and move to St Cathrines Ontario Canada or Toranto Ontario Canada. I wouldn't want to go to Mexico too dirty.

I hate the draft. I've always stated that I wouldn't fight in any war but people make me out to be a pussy for it. People have even said its ungodly to not want to be a conscript and get blown away so someone can make money and political hay off your dead corpse. I'm not going to be any government's patsy and I definately would be a conscientious objector. Maybe work in a hospital or go oversees.

You wouldnt like to move to another country and never see your family again? Well getting shot and your family having to live with you dead... thats something you want? The draft is stupid, and will never ever return. Take my word for it. Bush may be stupid, but hes not that stupid. And hes gonna lose the elections anyway, so that take's care of the biggest terrorist on earth.

Statikk HDM 05-21-2004 11:04 AM

Havoc, never say never. Draft boards are starting to get ready to be in action. Even if they are rumors it is important that people realize that the draft will be so unpopular and demoralizing that it will not work. Bush, if he eventually decides to start the draft up again, will most certainly wait for his second term(if he gets one. Shudder.) and sneak it in through the backdoor like he does to everyone else. I'm kind of scared because do you think Bush would care about the rights of dissenters? Nope, and if he caught you draft-dodging it'd be enemy combatant designation and a broomstick enema for you, for sure. Whoever said fate is not without a sense of irony really hit it on the head.

Codek 05-21-2004 11:15 AM

Look at what happened to that prime minister president guy in that middle east country when it went into a state of dissent. The people literally overthrew him. He was forced to pull out.

If the WHOLE of america doesn't like the idea of being drafted, then there's jack shit George W dickhole bush can do about it. Lets face it, at least 9 in 10 homes all over america bare arms, they'd end up taking EVERYONE by force, wasting millions of dollars in resources just trying to get people to leave their homes without shooting anyone.

The draft wouldn't start at 18. Too many people still in high school.

So the columbine shootings mean nothing to you then?

Just being 18 years old doesn't mean to say that you aren't going to resist the draft. I gaurantee many parents AND the students too would try to fight it off.

I got to agree with you there Death. Most people wouldnt want to draft. I'm probably the only one on the forums who just wouldnt mind.

I'm having trouble determining what you're trying to say here. I'm assuming, though, you misinterpreted what I said as meaning 18 year olds wouldn't want to resist. Of course they were. All I was stating was that the draft surely wouldn't start that young. It'll take a while, anyways, to determine all the factors involved, and set everything straight. T'would most likely be several years before it could be instated, and that's even if it ever gets accepted.

And what does Columbine have to do with high schoolers being drafted? I fear I'm ignorant on some unknown fact, here. Proudly elaborate, boy:p

Just imagine, you've got a whole career lined up ahead of you, you're getting all the qualifications/grades you need to get the job you want, and then all of a sudden you're drafted into the army and your future career is wiped off the slate completely.

EDIT: Lol just realised that my postcount is at 1337. :D

Thats one of the reasons why I am going into business for myself. I am starting my own Illustration studio. So if such things happen I will come back to my business.

The joke is all well and good but it makes no sense - ParamiteAbe is self employed. (or at least, will be when he sets up his own studio)

ClaireBear 05-23-2004 10:56 PM

I'm confused here guys... is America contemplating calling up civilians to fight in the Iraq war then it would involve 18 year olds... I can't see it happening though... I mean they ain't THAT busy there... simply being a nusance! Its hardly WW3 is it!

If its what we would call conscription, a period of military service, then career or rather education was always considered. Most blokes did their 18months service before or after Uni... it was simple!
