Yeah but Glukkons really don't care about anything. If theres something that will help them earn more money and they don't have to do any real work to do it the Glukkons will have it done, but if it involves any sort of real work at all then the Glukkons will just forget about it. Heck, the Glukkons don't even teach Sligs how to use there firearms properly.

Kaimana 07-06-2002 07:32 PM

Glukkons like the easiest way into things and the easiest way out. as long as they getwhat they want they will be satisfied and they dont care who they hurt in this processes.

General Drippik 07-06-2002 08:27 PM

Maybe the mask is to make them see better. It's a possibility...

Kaimana 07-06-2002 09:29 PM

yes to see better possibly night vision heat sensor i dont know but something along those lines

Danny 07-06-2002 10:00 PM

Rachel's already covered that possibility...

Xavier 07-07-2002 07:25 AM

well, only bigbro's have night vision heat sensor.
normal worker class not, remember you can hide in the shadows, and they can't see you

Kaimana 07-07-2002 09:42 PM

yes thats right Xavier. So can we put this subject to rest or are there anymore theories or disputes?:fuzconf:

molluck2 07-08-2002 01:58 PM

sligs aren't the only guards!what about greeters,interns,snoozers...?

Xavier 07-08-2002 03:05 PM

well greeters and snoozers are robots.
interns are only for the Vykker coglomeration

Greeters aren't firstly designed to be a guard, it's a marketing machine.
Snoozers aren't guards, they are only use the anestesies.

But you are right about the interns, altought there first role is to be nurces for the Vykkers

TheKhanzumer 07-08-2002 09:24 PM

Greeters aren't guards, like Xavier said. They were originally public relations robots which mysteriously started attacking customers. So they were shipped to different factories to work as security devices.

Snnoozers are not really guards either. Do to their size and armament, I think that the vykkers use them to capture large creatures without killing them.

Interns are employed as guards by the vykkers only. They also do other jobs. After all, they aren't called interns for nothing.

Not even sligs are an entirely "security guard species". They have other jobs as well although the majority of them do get trained as guards for the Magog Cartel.

Xavier 07-09-2002 04:18 AM

some sligs can be managers, others can be newcasters or valet.
much possiblilities for sligs.

ang Interns are armed in the game because VykkersLabs is in Alert Fase=> there is danger: knowed as Abe and Munch

molluck2 07-09-2002 09:20 AM

not all sligs can be wimpy, little and stupid!
some of them are strong, big and stupid!http://www.oddworld.au.com/paramonia.../slig02-sm.gif

Xavier 07-09-2002 09:35 AM

yeah sligs on stereoids...
and what?
we know there are bigibrosligs, what do you want to point out?

molluck2 07-09-2002 09:45 AM

i just wanna say that sligs are morans

tybie_odd 07-10-2002 08:51 AM

Wow...

What an interesting topic! Theories and Facts on Sligs.
Here are my personal views on the discussed items:

Natives Live In..... I would say swamps. To me, sligs seem clumsy (in a cute way). I can't imagine them being able to move in trees. Just my opinion.

Hermit Crabs..... Yes! I think you're right, Kai! A shell would almost be like the Natives' pants :D and we all know how sligs love their pants, even if they prefer not to sleep in them.

Masks.... I believe have a deep function. What, I don't know; but it seems pretty wierd to me that glukks would PAY to cover a worker's face painlessly. Why not just tear it off? Have Vykkers alter their DNA? Masks must serve a function that the glukks don't want ANYONE to know....especially the sligs, I think

Other... Yes, Kaimana, I have one thing to dispute (friendishly, not trying to change anybody's opinion): Why are sligs called dumb? Room-teperature I.Q.s? Here is my list that supports my argument :D ((oo, i'm havin' fun!))

- Smart Sligs -

1. They can read (Valet reads Lulu the news)
2. They can write (Crig, freelance writer for Daily Deception)
3. They can type...sort of (Operator in Abe's Exoddus)
4. ? They speak two languages? (BS and S'MO BS....I always thought these were slig-words, seperate from English. Just my theory...)
5. They have taste in Fasion (Valet, Slig-in-a-Dress/Hostess)
6. They suck up to their overlords (this shows Intended Manipulation, something stupid creatures don't do)
7. They are highly talkative with their peers (this shows constant Thought-Proccessing)

Erm....what's anybody think? I know it might sound crazy, but hey, that's why I posted it! To get some sensible corrections :D

they don't choose it themself. they are "gived" by the glukkons who use those sligs

Kaimana 07-10-2002 03:25 PM

Well Tybs im glad you like some of my Slig theories. I dont think Sligs are extremely stupid but i will say that *some are clumzy. I have no further comments. Thank you:fuzsmile:

ohoh, wait i have one more, the masktheories i dont think this one will be clearely answered, but as far as we no the original design was meant to cover there so called *hidious* face because the Glucks were to horrified to see it. Prabaly because it was to ennocent looking.

kleeng 07-10-2002 03:36 PM

Hey thats a good idear, give sligs masks to make em look more manecing to scare the slaves into obedience.

Oddsville 07-10-2002 03:41 PM

Most Sligs do have room temperture I.Q's but there are a few exceptional ones. The Gluks have to teach some Sligs so they can have them do the more 'qualified' jobs, ones that take more smarts to do like hosting the game show "Name the Trauma" and other occupations. But this dose show that Sligs can be very smart if taught there stuff. But seince the Gluks don't wanna spend to much money they poor ol Sligies never learn anything.

Xavier 07-10-2002 04:10 PM

oho, that's a cool subject: education
sligs with and without education, the differences, maybe the rivalities.

yeah I want to see that!

(and of cource this happen in our real world)

Kaimana 07-10-2002 04:14 PM

Yes that would be a interesting subject.
Is anyone willing to bring it to reality as a thread.?:fuzconf:

Xavier 07-10-2002 04:23 PM

well, you can, you are good for those tipes of topics.

TheKhanzumer 07-10-2002 06:26 PM

Sorry to break it to you Tybie but BS and S'mo BS aren't words in a slig languge. They stand for "bull s***" and "some more bull s***". That is easier than trying to write the sound they make.

Xavier 07-10-2002 06:31 PM

I got the game in french... amasing all the insults the sligs have.
plus I didn't knew that TheKhanzumer.

I realy tought it was something in slig langue

Kaimana 07-10-2002 06:33 PM

Yes it took me awhile to catch up to that. i later noticed that it represented what Khanzumer said.

thanks for the heads up, Khanz! I always assumed it stood for bull s*** but I had hoped it meant like "smalltalk" in a slig language. Thanks for the clarification.

As for discussing Sligly Education, I'd be willing to post it! :)

Here's some starter questions to get the brain juices flowing:

1. Crig works as a writer. Does this outlet of self-expression make him more self-aware than other sligs? We know from the Dear Alf letters that he has often *openly* accused glukkons of being unfair, greedy shmucks. Is he more in touch with his Native spirit?

2. Although most sligs only feel safe with other sligs, the Valet hangs out with Lulu 24/7. He is constantly surrounded by glukkons, vykkers, and interns. Has he developed a trust in these species, or is he just better trained at controlling his fear? Considering how much more powerful these species are compared to him alone, he operates very smoothly and confidently. From MO's Good Ending, we know that he feels free to dance, talk, and schmooz in front of these other species. He can be seen verbally expressing his emotions to his boss. What kinds of training could have prepared him for this? Was he born a Performer-type, or can any slig be trained to this level of self-confidence?

3. Again, the Newscaster is very self-confident and camera-comfortable. He uses the mic as various things, showing creativity and a strong sense of humor and/or boredom. His voice rings with enthusiasm--something most sligs don't have for their jobs. What is it about newscating that makes *this* slig so excited? Why does he care? What makes him feel safe enough to put his individuality out in the firing-zone of Glukkon Hope-Crushers?

ok, that's just a little starter. I know my posts are long and tedious, but please bear with me.

Let's hear some feedback

TheKhanzumer 07-10-2002 10:38 PM

How many boring or un-outspoken celebrities do you know of? Not many. Same thing with sligs. The reason they have the jobs they do is so that they can express themselves in their unique way without pissing off the boss. The more entertaining they are to watch, the higher the ratings, the more moolah the glukkon producers/editors make.

Iantiger 07-11-2002 04:38 AM

Yeah. The sligs are very varied, it seems there's some sort of class system, you got:

Slave sligs (guards)
Middle-class sligs (Valet + newscaster)
Royal sligs (yet to be seen?)

Kaimana 07-11-2002 05:09 AM

Hmm...Royal sligs......could be a possibility guys, like sligs working under the Gluck queen something like royal gaurds.

Xavier 07-11-2002 05:57 AM

i doubt there will be royal sligs.
the queens have other kinds of slaves, plus some of her kids stay with here to help here

Maggie picture: there are some Glukkons
Sam picture: there are some Mudokons
